BIRTH STEELE-To Mr. and Mrs, Wm, Steele (Alma McMichael) in Guelph General Hospital, on February 8, a son. Mrs. Fred Davey Dies in Hospital WROXETER-Mrs. Fred Davey, who had suffered a long illness, died in Wingham and District Hospital on Thursday afternoon, The former Elizabeth Cam- eron was born 87 years ago at Goldstone, Peel Township,Well- ington County. She was the daughter of the late Hugh Cam- eron and Elizabeth Philip. In 1909 she married Fred Davey, who predeceased her. Mrs. Davey is survived by one daughter, Mrs, Kenneth (Margaret) Edgar and fourgrand- children. A daughter, Isabel, predeceased her. The funeral was held on Sat- urday at the Moir funeral home its Gorrie. Rev. George Ander- son conducted the service. Bur- ial was in St. Alban's Anglican Cemetery at Grand Valley. Pallbearers were James Sand- erson, Jack Clarke, Art Gibson, William Wade, William Hart and Wes Paulin. DONNYBROOK Mr, and Mrs, Billiard Jeffer- son spent a couple of days with relatives in Toronto. Cheryl and Susan, who spent the week -end there, re- turned home to Clinton with them. Mrs. Wesley Jefferson, Deb- bie, Doreen and Barrie visited Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Josling and family of Londesboro, John,Laurie and GrantJohn- ston, children of Mr. and Mrs. Morley Johnston, are all in Wingham and District Hospital with pneumonia. Mr. William Webster of St. Helens visited last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Chamney and family. Mrs. Hardy, U.C.W. Hostess DONNYBROOK -The Febru- ary meeting of the U.C.W. was held Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. William Har- dy with a good attendance. The call to worship was given by Mrs, Charles Jefferson who had charge of the program. Mrs. William Hardy led in prayer, Mrs, Ernest Snowden read the Scripture lessons and Mrs. Ed- ward Robinson gave the medita- tion. A Psalm was read in uni- son. Mrs. Margaret Leddy gave a reading, "God's Good Samari- tans". Mrs, Stuart Chamney read the minutes of the previ- ous meeting and the offering was received. Mrs. Hilliard Jefferson took charge of the business. Two quilts were displayed which had been made for the bale, and yarn was distributed to be knit- ted into mitts and slippers. Eas- ter cards were also sold. Mrs. Tom Armstrong read from the study book and a dis- cussion period followed. Mrs. Murray Wilson gave a reading, "Do Something'.. Mrs. Margaret Leddy closed the meeting with the benedic- tion and lunch was served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Sam Thompson and Mrs. Gordon Naylor. A program was provid- ed by the students and lunch was served by the girls, all wearing fancy tea aprons. Each mother was presented with a very fancy bird cage made of 8 inch clothes hangers, adorned with flowers, ferns and an artificial bird inside.
