A. C. Riley of Unity, Wisconsin, a formerminister of Wingham Baptist Church, died on Friday, February 5. His widow, the former Iva Jean Blackhall passed away on Sunday, February 7. Mrs. Riley, a sister of Mrs. Wilfrid Congram of Wingham, was raised here and resided in Wingham until her marriage. They are survived by two sons, four daughters, 23 grand- children and three great grand- children, A double funeral was held on Tuesday at the Loyal Meth- odist Church in Unity, where Mr. Riley was pastor. Miss M. Coultes Buried Here Mabel Coultes of Toronto, formerly of Bluevale, died Tuesday of last week in Toron- to General Hospital after a short illness. Born in Bluevale, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Coultes. She was a department store clerk in Toronto. Surviving are two brothers, Dr. John F. of Philadelphia and Charles H. of Bluevale. Sev- eral brothers and sisters pre- deceased her. The body rested at the S.J. Walker funeral home where service was held Friday at 2 p. m. Rev. George Mitchell of Bluevale United Church offi- ciated. Interment was in the Wingham Cemetery. Father Dies In Guelph Lt. Col. John Thomas Steele, father of Mrs. Murray (Jacque- line) Rae of Wingham, died at his home, 2 Tiffany Street E. , Guelph, on Sunday after a brief illness. Mr. Steele is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Grant; a son, Capt. W . J. (Bill) Steele of Oakville, and Mrs. Rae; a brother Herbert C. Steele of Guelph and sisters, Mrs. James (Maud) Finnell of Wal- dron, Sask., and Mrs. H.C. (Margaret)Chick of Ottawa. There are also ten grand- children. The funeral was held in Guelph yesterday with inter- ment in Woodlawn Cemetery. Reception Held At Whitechurch WHITECHURCH-Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Baker, newlyweds of Wingham, were honored at a reception here on Friday eve- ning. Tiffin's Orchestra suppli- ed dance music and Leroy Rin- toul was the caller. Terry MacDougall read an address and Douglas Tiffin pre- sented them with a gift of mo- ney, for which Mr. Baker of- fered their gratitude. Lunch was served and dancing again enjoyed. Mrs. Dilamarter died in St. Marys Hospital. The former Doris McDonald is survived by her husband and daughters, 'Mrs. Richard(Gayle) Gregory of Stratford and Linda at home; her mother, Mrs. Mc- Donald of Wingham; brothers Lorne McDonald of Wingham and Ray of Stratford; and sisters Miss Beatrice McDonald and Mrs. James (Versa) Wheal, both of Harrington, Mrs.Meril(Cora) Lotus of Brantford, Mrs. Ken (Shirley) Sutherland of Ger- many. A brother, Murray McDonalc predeceased her ten days prior to her death. The funeral was held on Monday at Embro. Wm. Wiseman Dies in Oshawa William Wiseman, 81, pass- ed away at Oshawa Hospital on Friday, January 29th. He was the father of Mrs. Joseph(Isa- bella) Finleon of the Lucknow area. His wife, the former Isa- bella Jane Robertson of Scot- land, predeceased him October 16, 1948, and a daughter, Nel- lie on December 19, 1944. Mr. Wiseman farmed at Kenilworth near Mount Forest and later lived at Toronto. Sur- viving are three sons, Charlie, John and William of Toronto and a daughter, Mrs. Finleon; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted from Sacred Heart Church, Ken- ilworth, on Tuesday with inter- ment in Sacred Heart Cemetery. The pallbearers were grand- children Thomas. James, John and Alexander Finleon of Luck - now, Eldon Austin of Kings- bridge and James Devereaux of Lucknow.
