Mothers Attend
Christmas Concert
BELGRAVE-For the first time
in many years the mothers of
the pupils at Belgrave School
were invited to the Christmas
concert and certainly one and
all spent a delightful afternoon.
They all hope to receive an in-
vitation another year to see
these very talented youngsters.
The program was planned by
the teachers, Mrs. Mary Cham-
ney and Mrs. Isobel Henry, with
music under the direction of
Mrs. Phyllis Rodgers. The open-
ing chorus was by the whole
school of 73 pupils. They sang
"O Little Town of Bethlehem"
and "0 Come All Ye Faithful".
This was followed by the two-
part chorus singing "Shepherds
in the Hush of Night" and the
four-part chorus singing "Silent
Night".
An exercise was done by the
grade five students, "Christmas
Thoughts", where each pupil
said a recitation and placed a
decoration on the mantle. The
highlight of the afternoon was
an operetta, "Santa's Experi-
ment", a story of Santa's en-
deavor to operate a beauty par-
lor and the amusing happenings
when he got the customers' or-
ders mixed.
At this part of the program
the concert moved to the junior
room. Recitations were said by
Danny, Dwight and Donelda
Lamont followed by a drill by
the junior girls. Doreen Ander-
son said a recitation and a play
was presented by the juniors,
"Little Bear's Christmas". Reci-
tations were said by Donald
Scott and Scott Campbell.
A Christmas play, " The
Little Red Wagon", was follow-
ed by a chorus. Jilda Anderson
said a recitation. Santa arrived
and candies and presents were
distributed to all.
