WROXETER Mr. and Mrs. Danny Salter, Toronto, spent the week -end at their home here. Richard and Allan Griffith visited Sunday with Mr. George Griffith. We are sorry to hear Miss Eileen Haugh is confined to bed with inflamatory rheuma- tism and we hope for improve- ment soon. Mr. and Mrs. Aylmer Hart and Cheryl, Brussels, were Sun- day guests with Mrs. Alonzo Sparling, A successful farm and house furnishings sale was held at the farm of the late John McCutch- eon last Thursday and was at- tended by a large crowd. Good prices were realized, Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Doig of Dundalk spent Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. James Doig. Group Prays for Miss L. Collar WROXETER-The Friendship Unit of the U.C.W. held its Christmas meeting in the Sun- day School room of the church. Mrs. Archie Miller, leader of the unit gave the call to wor- ship. Scripture readings were given by Mrs. Allan Munro and Mrs. Stewart Higgins. The highlight of the meet- ing was a talk by Mrs. Dewey Adams of Gorrie, " The Old Fashioned Christmas Still Has a Message for the Modern World". Shc displayed the headings "Love, Faith and Hope" on flash cards. The nominating committee, Mrs. Stewart Higgins and Mrs. James Sanderson brought in the slate of officers for 1965 which are the same as 1964. Mrs. Al - rood Wearing has replaced Mrs. Higgins to look after the sale of all occasion cards. Fifteen members responded to the roll call. A letter was read from Miss Laura Collar giving a resume of her year's activities in Israel. Prayer was offered for her work. Mrs. James Doig was the pianist for the meeting. A tur- key dinner and social hour brought a successful year to a close. My sincere thanks for your patronage for the past two years. Old No. 3 is shut- ting its door. But the pupils and the par- ents of Glenannan School gave a final Christmas concert on Friday evening which was some- thing to remember. The pupils gave a variety of choruses, solos and duets, hu- morous recitations, and a Chris- tmas pantomime of carols, sung around the manger scene. Then the parents did a turn- about, and presented a show, "Circa 1920", to the great amusement of all present. Two readings were given by Lorne Metcalfe and Reuben Appleby, describing fictitious incidents in the lives of the neighbours. Mrs. Glenn Appleby directed a lovely and intricate May Pole Dance, performed by eight senior girls. The Featherville Choristers sang "Little Brown Jug" and "Good King Wences- las", led by Brian Metcalfe. A pantomime, done to "It's in the Book" and "Gran'maw's Lye Soap" was performed by Mrs. Mabel Goldrich. Then followed a riotous act, "A Day in School", with Mrs. Doug McPherson as teacher, Mrs. David Eadie as inspector, Mrs. Don Wallace, Mrs. Lorne Metcalfe, Mrs. Fischer, David Eadie, Don Wallace and Reu- ben Appleby as pupils. If rural schools are really so unruly, it is time that the pupils all went to Central School. Howick Lions' Bingo Winners WROXETER-Winners of the Howick Lions Club's bingo held in Wroxeter Community Hall Friday were: Mrs. Jessie Toman and Mrs. Harvey Reidt, tie; Mrs. Dick Jacklin and Mrs. George Hislop, Jr. , tie; Mrs. Art Wheeler; Mrs. Herb Patterson; Mrs. Harvey Bradshaw; Mrs. Leona Rupple; Mrs. George Hislop Jr.; Mrs. Harvey Bradshaw; Tony St. Marie; Mrs. Bob Montgomery; Gordon Edgar; Mrs. George His- lop Sr.; Mrs. Clark Sharpin; Miss Joyce Heimpel; Mrs. Art Wheeler. Special Games: Mrs. Carl Friburger and Mrs. Thos. Leek, tie; Mrs. George Hislop Jr.; Gordon Edgar; Mrs. Harvey Reidt. The next bingo will be on January 8. Weekly Euchre BELGRAVE-The last euchre for 1964 was held in the com- munity centre on Wednesday with seven tables in play. Pri- zes went to: High lady, Mrs. Jack Anderson; high man, Jack McCallum; novelty lady, Mrs. Victor Youngblut; novelty man, Harold Procter; low lady, Mrs. Harold Procter, low man, Bert Thompson, • The first euchre for the new year will be held on January 6. The program closed with the regular pupils singing " This Old School", with the follow- ing chorus.
