Everyone Frolics
At Final Concert
That was the last; there'll
be no more. Old No. 3 is shut-
ting its door.
But the pupils and the par-
ents of Glenannan School gave
a final Christmas concert on
Friday evening which was some-
thing to remember.
The pupils gave a variety of
choruses, solos and duets, hu-
morous recitations, and a Chris-
tmas pantomime of carols, sung
around the manger scene.
Then the parents did a turn-
about, and presented a show,
"Circa 1920", to the great
amusement of all present. Two
readings were given by Lorne
Metcalfe and Reuben Appleby,
describing fictitious incidents
in the lives of the neighbours.
Mrs. Glenn Appleby directed a
lovely and intricate May Pole
Dance, performed by eight
senior girls. The Featherville
Choristers sang "Little Brown
Jug" and "Good King Wences-
las", led by Brian Metcalfe. A
pantomime, done to "It's in
the Book" and "Gran'maw's
Lye Soap" was performed by
Mrs. Mabel Goldrich.
Then followed a riotous act,
"A Day in School", with Mrs.
Doug McPherson as teacher,
Mrs. David Eadie as inspector,
Mrs. Don Wallace, Mrs. Lorne
Metcalfe, Mrs. Fischer, David
Eadie, Don Wallace and Reu-
ben Appleby as pupils. If rural
schools are really so unruly, it
is time that the pupils all went
to Central School.
