now and Mr. and Mrs. Terry
Pym of Kitchener.
Mr. and Mrs, Anson Ruttan
were Kitchener visitors one day
last week.
Mrs. Carl Jacobson, Kurt
and David left Saturday by car
for Melford, Sask., where they
will visit relatives over the hol-
idays. Mr. Jacobson left a
week ago and will join his fam-
ily there.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Campbell,
Kerry and Alan were Kitchener
visitors on Friday.
Mr, and Mrs. Keith Duncan
of Toronto were week -end
guests with Mr. and Mrs. Robt.
Connell.
Mrs. William Marriner and
Miss Janet Beck spent a couple
of days last week with the for-
mer's mother, Mrs. Jolliffe in
Pe terboro.
Mr. Doug Wallace of Owen
Sound visited over the week-
end with his parents.
Mr, and Mrs, Dick Aldrich
of Galt were Sunday visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Stan Bride,
Mr, and Mrs, Roy Simmons
visited Sunday with Miss Luella
Simmons at kluronview in Clin-
ton.
Mrs. John Inglis, Tom and
Stephen spent one day last
week in Toronto.
The Howick Legion met in
the Legion rooms and all offic-
ers were returned for another
year. A draw for five turkeys
was held, the winners being
George Hislop of Wroxeter,
Jack Brown, Arthur Forester,
Helmut Rybicki and Floyd Al-
len all of Fordwich.
Mrs. Winnie Downey left
last week for Livonia, Michi-
gan where she will spend two
months with her daughter, Mrs.
Dan Burgan and Mr. Burgan.
Mr. Bob Bride of London
spent the week -end with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stan
Bride.
Little Miss Kim Jacobson re-
turned home Sunday after
spending two weeks with her
grandmother in Hamilton,
Mr, and Mrs. Glenn Doig of
St. Catharines visited Saturday
with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Doig.

and family of Toronto were

United Church

BLUEVALE-A beautiful
Christmas pageant was present-
ed by the choir of the United
Church under the direction of
Mrs. G. C. Mitchell, on Sunday
evening. Rev. G. C. Mitchell
presided and Mrs. Carl Johnston,
organist, conducted the singing.
The choir gave several num-
bers. Soloists were Betty Heth-
erington, Ruth Mathers and C.
B. Hoffman. Grace and Ruth
Mathers sang a duet; A trio
was given by Margaret Craig,
Betty Hetherington and Ruth
Mathers and a double trio by
Betty Hetherington, Grace and
Ruth Mathers, and Mary, Patsy
and Margaret Craig.
A candle lighting ceremony,
preceded by a processional,
included the singing of carols,
and readings by Mrs. George
Hetherington and other mem-
bers of the choir. The recess-
ional of the members with light-
ed
ighted candles concluded the cere-
mony.
Carols were sung by choir
and congregation. Christmas
trees and candle light added to
the scene.

A cockroach was eating on
the floor of a restaurant when
another cockroach came run-
ning in, all excited. "Wow!"
he cried, "you should see the
new restaurant they're building
across the street. All chrome
and shining tile and plastic..."
"Please," the first cockroach
interrupted, "not while I'm eat-
ing!"

the December meeting at the
home of Mrs. Jack Wilson. A
donation of $5.00 was voted
for a veteran in Westminster
Hospital and 85.00 to the Chris-
tmas tree fund.
The mystery prize was won
by Mrs. Mel Allen. The spe-
cial, donated by Mrs. Ross
Doig, was won by Mrs. Jack
Wilson.

Sothetn, assisted by the host-
ess.
Reception Held
On Anniversary
FORDWICH-A reception was
held Friday night in the Ford-
wich cosfmunity hall for the
25th wedding anniversary of
Mr, and Mrs. liarold Wallace,
A mock wedding was put on by
several neighbours and dancing
was also enjoyed.
The couple was presented
with two occasional chairs and
several gifts in silver. Mrs.
Walter Dernerling read the ad-
dress and Lyle Foethers and
Walter Demerling presented the
gifts, Harold and Ena express-
ed their thanks to everyone and
lunch was served.
White Gifts
Go to Toronto
WROXETER- The teachers
and pupils of the Wroxeter
United Church Sunday School
held their annual White Gift
service last Sunday. Leone
Chambers was pianist and Ron-
ald McMichael led the service,
The Scripture was read by Kaye
Wright and Carol Loutit gave
the story.
At the front of the Sunday
School was a lovely tree and
the children placed their gifts
beneath it. These were sent to
St. Christopher House in Tor-
onto.
