byterian Church, opened the
meeting Tuesday evening of
last week with a call to w q r -
ship. A large attendance en-
joyed this Christmas meeting
which was held in the ladies'
church: parlour,
The Scripture reading was
read by Mrs. Monty Bennett,
and the meditations were given
by Mrs. Robert Arbuckle. Mrs.
Bruce MacDonald offered pray-
er. Throughout the evening

Mrs, MacDonald described
Christmas customs in other
lands. A film, "The Story of
Nativity", was enjoyed and the
roll call was answered by a
verse containing the word
"Christ", The reports of all
committees were read and ap-
proved.
Mrs. E. Anderson of the
nominating committee read the
slate of officers for the ensuing
year which was accepted. The
officers were installed by Rev.
Gordon Fish.

Waterloo, left on Saturday for
Regina to attend the funeral of
the former's father, Mr. W.
Bowie, who died in St. Mary's
liospital, Kitchener, on Friday.

W, of Calvin -Brick met at the
home of Mrs. Lawrence Taylor.
Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft presided
and opened the meeting with a
Christmas poem. Carols were
sung.
During the business period
Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft read an
address to Mrs. Alex Leaver,
who has gone to reside in Wing -
ham, and Mrs. Lawrence Tay-
lor presented her with a Life
Membership pin. Mrs. Leaver
replied, thanking the ladies for
their kindness in remembering
her.

Unit 4 of the Wingham tr. C.
W. held its Christmas meeting
on Wednesday at the home of
Mrs. G. W. Tiffin, with 1t
'members present.
Mrs, G. N. I lowson opened
the meeting with the poem of
a New Zealand writer "Love
was Born in Bethlehem". Before
the carol "Silent Night" was
sung the story of its Bavarian
origin was told. The Christmas
story as told by Sr, Luke was
read by Mrs, Murray Taylor,
The Christmas and customs of
many lands- -France, I lolland,
Italy, Mexico, Denmark, Swe
den, Germany, Norway, were
related by several of those pre-
sent. Our Canadian customs
come from round the world. The
French origin of "O Conte All
Ye Faithful", and the iletltle-
inen inspired "O Little Town of
Bethlehem" further demonstra-
ted this fact. Mrs. G, A. Tif-
fin thclt conducted a quiz on
"What do you know about
Christmas? which was won by
Mrs. Vern Reid
The leader of the unit, Mrs.
J. lteavie, played for the carols
and took- charge of the business
session. Mrs, Reavis is to cou-
tinue as leader for 1965 with
Mrs, Murray Taylor '.s her as-
sistant. Reports sh, : d that

and household articles were re-
quired for fire victims.
Lunch provided by the com-

Wed 45 Years
Rev. and Mrs. Chas. D. Cox
of Tecswatcr observed the 45th
anniversary of'their wedding on
Sunday, December 21st, with
some members of their fancily
and close friends celebrating
rhe day with them.

at Ciieton. They have one dau-
ghter, Mts. II. Gerber of North
Bay.

Donald Dow. Another feature
was the introduction to the Ad-
vent Wreath by five ladies who
each lit a candle.
Mrs. Jackson led in prayer
and pronounced the benediction
and lunch was served by the
hostess to 21 ladies and two
children.
