visited on Thursday of last week
with Mrs, Thomas Aitken at
Walkerton.
A number of people from the
community attended the variety
concert presented by the pupils
of Glenannan School, in the
Community Centre on Friday
evening.
Belmore's Intermediate
Hockey team got off to a flying
start on Friday evening when
they won their first game in the
Tri -County schedule. We wish
them the continuance of such
luck for the remainder of the
season.
Miss Barbara Steven of Ham-
ilton spent the week -end with
Rev, and Mrs. Douglas Steven
and sons, at the manse.
Mr, and Mrs. John Tyler of
St. Marys were week -end
guests with her mother, Mrs.

Plan Menus
LAKELET •The seventh meet-
ing of the Lakelet Safety Sals
was held at the home of the
leader, Mrs. Gordon Wright on
Monday of last week. The
meeting opened with the 4-1-1
pledge and twelve members
answered the roll call with "A
safety rule I have learned".
The next meeting will be at
the home of the assistant leader
on January 5th.
Nutrition was discussed and
notes were given on general
rules for meal planning. Mem-
bers were then divided into
groups to prepare one day's
menus, keeping in mind Can-
ada's food rules.
A snack was served to the
girls at the close of the meet-
ing.

ship.
Rev. Howard Mills of New
York City, who is visiting at
his home in Toronto during the
holiday season, was a Saturday
visitor with Mrs. Alex Sangster,
in the village.
Many Belmore friends atten-
ded the Christmas pageant
staged by members of Mildmay
United Church, on Sunday eve-
ning,

land and Carol and Mr. and
.Mrs. Ross McKague and family
were guests of Mr. Henry Jo-
hann and Miss Mae Johann on
Tuesday evening of this week.

McBel Club Holds
Turkey Dinner
LAKELET A turkey dinner
was the highlight of the annual
meeting of the McBel Friend-
ship Club on Tuesday of last
week in McIntosh United
Church Sunday School room.
The committee in charge was
Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Johann,
Mr. and Mrs. Alan Darling,
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Dustow
and Mr. and Mrs, John Ruther-
ford.
A special Christmas collec-
tion was taken to be sent to a
Korean orphanage. Rev. Doug-
las L. Steven conducted the
election of officers which re-
sulted as follows: Presidents,
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Haskins;
vice presidents, Mr. and Mrs.
Bruce Harkness: secretary -treas-
urers, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred
Johann.

BELMORE-Special services
were held in McIntosh United
Church on Sunday morning, for
the congregations of that church
and Belmore. Rev. D. L. Stev-
en baptized two infants, Heath-
er Louise, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Orval Dustow, and Mary
Frances, daughter of Mr, and
Mrs. Murray Wright. Two
members, Irene Doubledee and
Sharon Merkley, were received
into the Belmore church by pro-
fession of faith; and two by cer-
tificate of transfer, Mrs, George
Merkley to the Belmore church
and Mrs. James Busby to Mc-
Intosh,
The members of the Sunday
Schools of both churches pre-
sented their White Gifts at the
Nativity Scene, and sang"Away
in a Manger". Following the
Christmas service, Mr. Steven
officiated for the Holy Com-
munion service.
In the Presbyterian Church
on Sunday afternoon, Rev. T. E.
Kennedy spoke on "Why Christ
Carne". The senior choir sang
"A Song of Bethlehem" , and
the juniors sang "Come Hasten,
Ye Shepherds". A quartet corn -
prised of Joe Jeffray, Ian Inglis,
Hugh Leeson and Jim McKague,
sang "Go Tell It on the Moun-
tain". Organist was •Mrs, Alvin
Mundell, and the choir was di-
rected by Miss Mac Johann.

Mrs. Hazel Tuck of Wing -
ham visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Ernest Wylie several days last
week.
There is lots of activity at
the outdoor skating rink in
Lakelet these days, and nights
too. It is an excellent place
for the children to enjoy their
Christmas holidays.

and children of Palmerston visit
ed with Mr. and Mrs, Ervin
Reidt on Tuesday.
