Are Part of Roll Call
GORRIE-The annual meet-
ing of the W.A. of St. Steph-
en's Anglican Church was held
at the home of the president,
Mrs. Gordon Underwood, on
"Thursday afternoon. The meet-
ing
eeting opened with the "Come Ye
Apart" service from the Living
Message, led by Mrs. Under-
wood and Mrs. G.A. Anderson,
The lesson was read by Rev.
G. A. Anderson. Roll call was
answered with a verse from the
Christmas story and a Christ-
mas gift to the W.A. Mrs. R.
T. Bennett presented minutes
and financial reports. Mrs.
Norman Wade gave the report
of the Dorcas work.
Mr. Anderson presided for
the election of officers which
are as follows: Hon. pres.,
Mrs. G. A. Anderson; president,
Mrs. Gordon Underwood; 1st
vice, Mrs. Norman Wade; 2nd
vice, Mrs. Harry King; sec.
treas., Mrs. Geo, King; asst.
Mrs. R. T. Bennett; Little Help-
ers, Mrs. G. A. Anderson and
Mrs. Jack Bennett; social ser-
vice, Mrs. Bertha Plant; Dor-
cas sec., Mrs. Wm. Austin;
helpers, Mrs. Norman Wade,
Mrs. C. Ritchie, Mrs. J. Dins-
more and Mrs, B. Plant; audi-
tors, Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. W.
Austin.
Mr. Anderson gave a Christ-
mas message. After reading
the Gospel for Christmas Day
he said that John tells of a mya-
tery, the Incarnation, while
Matthew and Luke give the his-
torical details of the birth of
Christ.
Christmas poems by Alice
Roberts and E, P. Duffy were
read by Mrs, Norman Wade.
Mrs, Lawrence, Mrs. Under-
wood and Mrs. Wade were
named to make out programs
for 1965, The hostess served
refreshments.

On Safety Theme
In order to further traffic
safety education amongst
school children of our area,
your Auto Club has designed a
set of book -marks for free dis-
tribution through public librar-
ies, schools and other interest-
ed organizations.
Prepared in a series convey-
ing 10 different safety messag-
es, each book -mark bears an
illustration of a particular
theme together with an easy to
read and remember safety mes-
sage.
Anyone interested in procur-
ing supplies of these book-
marks may do so by calling or
writing the Ontario Motor
League, Box 518, Owen Sound.

Music Recital, Christmas Party
BRUSSELS -Mrs. Edwin Mar-
tin held a music recital and
Christmas party at her home on
Saturday morning.
The program consisted of
classical and secular selections,
hymns and carols, a piano and
violin duet, duets and trios.
Each child participated in a
piano duet. There were two
six -hand trios, one a six -hand
trio with a double melody. A
volunteer section demonstrated
the technique of playing scales,
triads, arpeggios, dominant
and diminished sevenths.
Those taking part were Anne
Stratychuk, Rose Mary Morrison,
Tharon Riley, Joan Stephenson,
Doreen Riley, Pauline McCut-
cheon, Dorene Cardiff, Colleen
Cardiff, Nancy Adams, Shirley
Bernard, Vonne McCutcheon,
Sandy McDonald and Susan Mc-
Donald.
To add variety during the
different divisions of the pro-
gram, six lucky draws were won
by Sandy McDonald, Doreen
Riley, Rose Mary Morrison,
Tharon Riley, Pauline McCut-
cheon and Dorene Cardiff. A
name contest was won by a
group composed of Shirley Ber-
nard, Vonne McCutcheon, and
Pauline McCutcheon. At the
close, a lunch was served by
the hostess, Mrs. Martin,
SILENT NIGHT
A broken organ inspired"Si-
lent Night." So that the people
of the parish might have a song
at Christmas, Father Joseph
Mohr, an Austrian priest, wrote
the carol, and his organist com-
posed the music. It was sung
on Christmas Eve, 1818, to
guitar accompaniment.
