Former Minister's Son Is Doctor in Congo
FORIWICH-The Christmas
meeting of the United Church
Women was held Thursday in
the Sunday School room in a
setting of poinsettias and light-
ed candles. The devotional
period was presided over by
Mrs. S. Bride with Mrs. Carl
Ettinger reading passages of
Scripture and offering prayer.
Mcs. Bride gave a meditation
on Advent.
A reading " The Three Sym-
bols of Christmas," was given
by Mrs. Warren Zurbrigg and
Mrs. Robert Connell gave" The
Spirit of Christmas". A solo,
"Dear Little Stranger Asleep
on a Manger" was sung by Mrs.
Jack Wilson.
An article on the experien-
ces of a young medical student
in the Congo was read by Mrs.
Clenn Johnston. The young
doctor is the son of the former
Halcyon Chandler whose father,
the Rev. Chandler, preached
in the Fordwich United Church
in the 1920's.
. Mrs, Wm. Wilson presided
for the business. The roll call
was answered by a thought on
Christmas. The treasurer's re-
port showed that the recent
bazaar netted $210.00. A
donation of $5.00 was voted
the Stewards of the Church and
a gift of $10.00 to Mrs. Rubt.
Campbell, formerly Wilda
Patterson, a polio patient in
St. Joseph's Hospital, Guelph.
It was decided to purchase new
hymn books for the church.
