BELGRAVE- The Evening
Unit of the U. C. W. held its
Christmas meeting at the home
of Mrs. Ross Anderson on Thur-
sday. Mrs. Laura Johnston op-
ened with a verse, "What Is
Christmas?" followed by the
carol "While Shepherds Watch-
ed". Mrs. Ross Anderson read
the Christmas story from the
Bible, and Mrs. Johnston read
a Christmas article, "The
Christ of Christmas" . Mrs.
Anderson read a poem, "He
Took Them In". The offering
was received and dedicated by
Mrs. Stan Hopper. "Sandals
for A Birthday" was the story
read by Mrs. Alan Dunbar and

William Coultes. Minutes of
the last meeting were read by
Mrs. Ross Anderson and Mrs.
Alan Dunbar gave the treasur-
er's report. The January roll

gestions for improving the
meetings.

December 19
BELGRAVE- The Ladies'
Guild of Trinity Anglican
Church met at the home of
Mrs. Herman Nethery on Thur-
sday. The meeting was opened
with a Christmas hymn and
prayer by the president, Mrs.
Clara VanCamp. Mrs.Lawren-
ceC mp.
Vannan read the Scripture.
Minutes were read by Mrs.
Richard Procter and Mrs. Coop-
er Nethery gave the treasurer's
report. It was announced that
the Sunday School concert and
pot -luck supper will be held on
December 19 at the Foresters'
Hall and that on Decetnber 20
the Service of Nine Lessons
will be held in the church. Mrs.
Clare VanCamp was appointed
to represent the Guild at this
service.
Rev. Robert Mcally conduc-
ted a contest on the Christmas
season. The roll call was an-
swered with a Christmas verse:
Lunch was served by the hos-
tess.

Belgrave Personals
The Christmas meeting of
the Belgrave Wornen's Insti-
tute will be held in the Com-
munity Centre on Tuesday,
December 15. Convener will
be Mrs. J. M, Coultes. Display
will be Christmas eake, each
member to take one piece.
Miss Marlene Walsh of Wa-
terloo visited with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs, James Walsh,
White Gift service was held
in the Belgrave United Church
on Sunday. Rev. Arthur Jack-
son was in charge of the ser-
vice. The story was told by
Miss Ruth Michie. The gifts
from this service will be sent
to the Children's Aid Society
at Goderich.

BID FAREWELL TO
McDOWELL FAMILY
O.P. P. Corporal John Mc-
Dowell of the Wingham detach-
ment, Mrs. McDowell and
their son William were given a
farewell party at the Hartley
House, in Walkerton, a couple
of weeks ago. About '75 neigh-
bors and friends were present.
During the evening each
member of the family received
a purse of money. Dancing was
enjoyed.
Cpl. McDowell came to
Wingham from Walkerton. The
family will take up residence
here in the near future.
