Ira Campbell held open house
on Tuesday and Wednesday of
last week at their home here,
marking their 67th wedding
anniversary.
They are both 86 and in
good health. They spend every

were there last year.
Mrs. Campbell is the form-
er Gertrude Garniss. She was
born in Bluevale, a daughter
of the late John Garniss and
Annie Coultes, Her family
moved to Thessalon 71 years
ago,
Mr. Campbell was born at
Belfast and moved with his
parents, the late James Camp-
bell and Sarah Wilson, to
Thessalon, the year before the
arrival there of the Garniss
family,
They met and were married
in Thessalon, The .ceremony
was performed by Rey. W. R.
Seally of the Methodist Church
on December 1, 1897.
After their marriage they
moved to Kapuskasing where
Mr. Campbell was supervisor
for the Spruce Falls Pulp and
Paper Co. He also acted in an
advisory capacity in the devel-
opment of Kimberly-Clark
Enterprises at Long Lac.
Mr. and Mrs. Campbell re-
tired to Lucknow eleven years
ago and five years ago built a
new home in Belgrave.
They have three children,
Mrs. Ed (Ivy) Ansley of Thes-
salon, Glen of Lucknow and
Floyd of Belgrave. They have
18 grandchildren and 34 great
grandchildren.
Gus McGlynn Dies of Injuries,
Augustine "Gus" McGlynn,
65, of R, R, 2, Wingham, who
received a broken pelvis, bro-
ken nose and head injuries in
a ear -.truck accident on Tues-
day of last week, died on Tues-
day of this week as a result of
the injuries, He had been re-
ported in fair condition after
the accident.
The accident occurred on
Highway 4 and 9, six miles
west of Walkerton, The car
driven by Mr, McGlynn and a
stake truck owned by Canada
Packers Ltd. of Walkerton, and
driven by Andrew McAskill
were in collision, causing a
total estimated damage of $800.
Mrs. McGlynn, a passenger
in the car, suffered face and
chest injuries. The victims
were taken to Bruce County
Hospital at Walkerton. Mrs.
McGlynn is still hospitalized.
Mr. McGlynn had lived all
his life in this district, He was
a member of Sacred Heart
Church,
He is survived by his wife,
the former Annie Freiburger,
whom he married in Teeswater
in 1938; four sons, Patrick of
Hamilton, Thomas of Bluevale;
Jerry of R. R.2, Wingham, Rob-
ert of Kitchener; three daught-
ers, Mrs. Orville (Rose) Gate-
cliffe of Hamilton, Mrs, Larne
(Eleanor) Curran of Kitchener
Lois Baker Is Married
At Presbyterian Manse
The Presbyterian manse,
Wingham, was the scene of a
wedding of interest on Saturday,
November 28th, when Lois
Marie Baker, daughter of Mrs.
Baker of Wingham and the late
Sheldon Baker was married to
William James Alexander of
Listowel. The ceremony was
performed at 3 o'clock by Rev.

The bride wore a suit of
white boucle with matching hat
and black accessories and cor-
sage of red sweetheart roses.
The matron of honour, Mrs.
Don K. Cameron of Wingham,
wore a red boucle suit, white
hat, black accessories and cor-
sage of white mums and red
roses.
Best man was Mr, Robert
Jank of Hanover.
Buffet luncheon was served
at the bride's home following
the ceremony, where white
and pink carnations formed the
centre piece for the table.
Mrs. Baker received in a dress
of black crepe with which she
wore black accessories and a
corsage of yellow mums. The
groom's mother wore a dress
of blue wool with black ac-
cessories and corsage of white
mums,
Mr. and Mrs. Alexander
left on a wedding trip in Nor-
thern Ontario. They will re-
side in Listowel.
Prior to her marriage„ Miss
Baker was the guest of honour
at a miscellaneous shower held
at the home of Mrs. Robert
Jank in Hanover. About 15
guests were present to bring
gifts and good wishes to the
bride-to-be. The hostess was
assisted by her mother, Mrs,
Beardsford.
Mrs. H. Campbell
Funeral Yesterday
A well-known resident of
the town died at the Wingham
and District Hospital on Mon-
day in the person of Mrs. Her-
bert Campbell. She was 78
years of age.
She was the former Florence
Edna Straiton, and was born at
Goderich, the daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander
Straiton. She received her
education at Goderich public
and high schools and was mar-
ried in that town to Mr. Camp -
hell, who predeceased her in
1957,
Mrs. Campbell is survived
by one sister, Mrs, Katherine
Steel, as well as several
nieces and nephews. Deceased
was a member of St, Andrew's
Presbyterian Church.
Service was conducted on
Wednesday at 2 p.m, at the
R. A. Currie & Sons funeral
hotne by her minister, Rev.
Gordon L. Fish and interment
was in the Wingiiani Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Walter
Burgess, Eldred Nichol, T. A:
Currie, Willis Lapp, Gordon.
Leggatt and Donald Adams.

Children Hold
Christmas Meeting
The Christmas meeting of
the children of the church of
St. Andrew's was held in the
church parlor. Prior to ,the
meeting, Christmas songs and
carols were practised.
The call to worship was
given by David Fish, Beverley
Merrick gave the opening pray-
er. The Scripture reading was
given by Janet McGee.
The offertory ushers were
Connie Jamieson, Kendra Fea-
gan, Brian Shaunessy and
Brian McTavish and the offer-
tory prayer was given by Kathy
Pattison. Roll call was ans-
wered by 33 members.
A "Christmas" acrostic was
presented by the following
juniors; Jeff Anderson, Connie
Jamieson, Kendra Feagan,
Debbie Welwood, Peter Hil-
bert, John Campuell, Janice
Rae, Alexia Currie, Margaret
Arbuckle, Marilyn Congram
and Ruth Hastings.
Using a flannelgraph, the
following senior members pre-
sented "A Manger Bed"; Ron-
nie Perrott, Olive Lapp, Doug
Leitch, Gail Remington, Ste-
phen Cruickshank, Kathy Pat-
tison, Jim Hastings, Grace Cor
ria, Ricky Smith and Janet Mc-
Gee. The carol "Silent Night"
concluded the seniors' number.
Mrs. G. Welwood was in-
troduced as the new leader for
the coming year. The juniors
listened to a Christmas story,
and the seniors concluded the'
last chapter of "The Golden
Coin". The senior boys, as
winners of the quiz on the
study book, each received a
gift.
Mrs. G. Sutcliffe closed
the meeting in prayer.

The winners are announced
of last Wednesday night's
bingo game, sponsored by
Branch 180, Royal Canadian
Legion.

Mrs. Fred MacLean
Dies at Her Home
Mrs. Fred MacLean died at
her home on gaiter Street
yesterday (Wednesday) morn,
ing.
The former Janet Rintoul
was born in East Wawanosh.
She was in her 79th year. Mrs, -
MacLean was a member of St.
Andrew's Church.
She is survived by her hus-
band Frederick L. R. MacLean,
a daughter Margaret (Mrs,
John Loring) of Brampton, one
sister, Mrs. Chris Telfer of
Parkhill and a brother, Alex
Rintoul of Wingham. There
are seven grandchildren and
six great grandchildren.
Mrs. MacLean was prede-
ceased by a daughter Janet in
1946 and a daughter Alberta
in 1952,
The body is resting at the
R.A. Currie & Sons funeral
home. Arrangements were
not complete at press time.
