Harness Shop Operator Dies
GORRIE-Edward Henry
Bolander, 71, died Friday at
Listowel Hospital after a heart
attack.
He was the son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Bolander
and was born in Wallace Town-
ship, March 21, 1893. He
farmed in Wallace Township
for 60 years and moved to Gor-
rie in 1956, where he owned
and operated a harness and shoe
repair shop.
He was a member of the
Lutheran Church at Trecastle.
Mr. Bolander is survived
by his wife, Mary Elizabeth;
one son, Robin, at home; two

On December 7
GORRIE-Warren Zurbrigg
chaired the nomination meet-
ing for Howick Township on
Friday in the Gorrie Communi -
ty Hall. About '70 attended.
An election will he held
December '7 for the offices of
deputy reeve and councillors.
Robert Gibson and E. H.
Strong qualified for deputy
reeve.
Frank King, Harvey Mc-
Michael, Harold Robinson,
John Ferguson and Norman Car-
son allowed their names to
stand for councillors. Three
will be elected.
Reeve Ivan Haskins was
returned by acclamation as
were the three members of
Howick Central Schobl Board,
Stuart Douglas, Clare Harris
and Leonard Sanderson.
TEA AND BAZAAR
GORRIE-The Guild of St.
Stephen's Anglican church were
gratified with the fine atten-
dance at the tea and bazaar on
Saturday afternoon, in spite of
the unfavorable weather. Pro-
ceeds were approximately $150.
The annual meeting of the
Women's Auxiliary of St.
Stephen's Anglican Church will
be held Thursday, December 1
at 2.30 p.m. at the home of
Mrs. Gordon Underwood.

GORRIE-Over 30 neighbour
gathered at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Archie Miller on Fri-
day evening when Mr. and Mrs.
Irving Toner were presented
with a room divider and TV
tables, prior to their moving to
Gorrie. The evening was spent
playing cards and crokinolc and
lunch was served.
STORE ROBBED AT
BRIGHT'S GROVE
WHITECIIURCII-Word was
received here on Sunday by
Mrs. Catherine Falconer that
the store owned by Mr. and
Mrs, Relison Falconer, at
13right's Grove, had been brok-
en into on Saturday evening by
the use of a glass cutter to re-
move the large glass window.
The thieves removed rnttch of
the merchandise and with what
remained they made general
destruction.

Funeral service was held
Monday at the Moir funeral
home, Gorrie, conducted by
Rev. R. B. Gaalhaar. Pall-
bearers were Richard Carson,
Melvin Finlay, Charles Koch,
Robert Edgar, Gordon Edgar,
John Baylor. Burial was in
Gorrie Cemetery.
Safety Sisters
Hold Meeting
GORRIE-The sixth meet-
ing of the Safety Sisters was
held at the home of Margaret
Wilson. Roll call was "An
accident hazard in my home
and what I will do about it."
Twelve members answered
the roll.
Joan Reichard read the
minutes, Mrs. Harry Pltame
spoke on different types of ac-
cidents and how to dress inju-
ries.
A discussion was held on
public health services.
It was announced that
Constable R. G. Phillips of
Goderich would address 4-H
groups on "Driving and High-
way Safety" on Wednesday
night, at Howick Central
School.
Frank Coulter
Last of Family
WHITECHURCH-Frank
Coulter, 82, who retired to the
village in 1943, died in Wing -
ham and District Hospital on
Saturday.
Mr. Coulter was in fairly
good health until Thursday
evening. He was a familiar
figure at the post office each
morning when he went for his
mail and his friendly greetings
will be missed. He was a
cheerful man and was highly
respected in the community.
His parents were the late
William Coulter and Janet Mc-
Gee of West Wawanosh Town-
ship. Mr, Coulter was the last
survivor of their family of six
sons and two daughters.
On December 21, 1910, he
married Mary Purdon at the
home of her parents in East
Wawanosh. He was a farmer
and thresher until his retire-
ment.
Mr. Coulter is survived by
his wife, a son, W. Alex Coul-
ter of R. R. 3, Wingham, and a
daughter, Mrs. Hugh David
(Isabel) MacDonald of White-
church. There are five grand-
children.
He was predeceased by a
son, Chester, on September 5,
1961 and by a granddaughter,
Judy Coulter in August of this
year.
Ele was a member of
Chalmers Presbyterian Church.
Funeral service was held
Monday afternoon at the R.A.
Currie & Sons funeral home.
Rev. G. L. Fish officiated at
the service and burial in Wing -
ham Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dawson
Craig, Clarkson Martin, James
Coulter, Archie Purdon, Rus-
sel Purdon and W. A. Purdon,
Cedric Moffat and Noble Green-
away carried floral tributes.
ATTEND WEDDING OF
SISTER ON SATURDAY
WHITECHURCH-Mr. and
Mrs. Jim Richardson spent
Saturday in Toronto, where
they attended the wedding of
Mrs. Richardson's sister, Miss
Florence Moir to Horace Holt
at Grace and Truth Gospel Hall
Mrs. Richardson was matron
of honor and Mr. Richardson
was usher. A reception fol-
lowcd at the Grenedier Restau-
rant.

on Monday of his uncle, the
late Mr. Eddie Gaunt, and
visited other relatives here,

Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Purdon,
Lucknow.

coner, Kevin and Allan of
Streetsville, were Friday even-
ing visitors with Mrs. Catherine

fin and Kirk, of Kitchener,

spent Sunday with their mother,
Mrs. Emma Coffin, and John.
