Home Helpers
BLUEVALE-The Home
Helpers meeting of the W.M.
S. of Knox Church was held on
November 12 in the Sunday
School room with a very good
attendance. Mrs. Bernard
Thomas, president, presided.
She opened the meeting with a
devotional message and led in
prayer. The motto of the W.
M.S. was sung with Mrs. H.
Robertson at the piano. The
secretary, Mrs. R. J. McMur-
ray read the minutes. The
treasurer's report was given by
Mrs. Thomas in absence of the
treasurer.
The December meeting will
be held at the home of Mrs. R.
J. McMurray. Mrs. E. Nichol
had charge of the mission study.
Mrs. H. Robertson read the
Scripture and gave comments
which were very interesting and
a.-nsopriate for Remembrance
D. -v. Mrs. B. Moffatt led in
prayer. The offering was taken
up by Mrs. W. Elston and the
dedicatory prayer given by Mrs.
J. McInnes.
Mrs. Keith Moffatt, Home
Helpers' secretary, presided
for the remainder of the meet-
ing. Mrs. Bill Campbell,
Molesworth, was the guest
speaker. She was introduced by
Mrs. Thomas and gave an in-
teresting, informative talk on
the Synodicals she had attend-
ed last spring. Some of the
events she enjoyed the most at
the synodical were skits and
panel discussions. She urged
the ladies to attend the synodi-
caJs for their own benefit and
also for the support of the or-
ganization.
Mrs. Moffatt thanked the
speaker and presented her with
a gift of appreciation.
The benediction was given
by Rev. T. E. Kennedy. Mrs.
Ross Gray conducted an inter-
esting contest and a social
time was enjoyed. Mrs. Keith
Moffatt, assisted by severalla-
dies, served lunch.

on Friday at Teeswater. Rev.

FORDWICH-Mr. and Mrs.
John Leppington were pleasant-
ly surprised on Tuesday evening
when friends, neighbours, and
relatives gathered at their home
in honor of their 25th wedding
anniversary.
Progressive euchre was play-
ed during the evening. Mrs.
John Craig read the address
and Mrs. Earl Murray, Mrs.
Stan Zurbrigg and Mrs. Fred
Litt presented them with a pair
of table lamps, smoke stand
and candy dish.
John and Helen thanked
everyone and a delicious lunch
was served.

successful bake sale and tea
in the Oddfellow's Hall on
Saturday, despite the snowy
weather.
There were no church ser-
vices held at Calvin -Brick on
Sunday due to the snow block-
ed roads over which no snow
plough had operated by church
time.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Walker vi-
sited recently with his sister,
Miss Walker Reg. N. of Walk-
erton, who is now a patient in
the hospital there.
Mrs. Carman Whytock was
admitted this week to Wingham
and District Hospital.
Mr. George Gaunt began
work on Monday at the Fry and
Blackhall factory.
Mr. and Mrs. Stan Kay
moved last week to their home
on Highway 86, which in for-
mer years belonged to the late
Mr. Jack Gillies.
Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Taylor

sive euchre party at Currie's
school on Friday evening had
14 tables in play,
Mrs. Gershom Johnston was
the high lady and Roy Dawson
had the top score for the men.
Consolation winners were Earle
Mayberry and Mrs. Charles
ShielL Henry Pattison won the
special prize.
A highlight of the party was
the presentation of gifts to Mr.
and Mrs. Lloyd Montgomery,
who have moved to Wingham.
Ronnie Coultes read an address
and two step-up tables, a cof-
fee table, a gossip table and
a bouquet of artificial flowers
for the coffee table were pre-
sented to the couple, on be-
half of neighbors and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Coul-
tes and Mr, and Mrs. Bob Ar-
buckle served lunch. The
next party will be convened by
Mr. and Mrs. John L. Currie
and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence
Taylor on December 4.

FORDWICH-The November
meeting of the Fordwich Wo-
men's Institute was held at the
home of Mrs. Robert Gibson,
Highway 87. Mrs. Gibson, the
president, presided and wel-
comed the members and several
guests.
The devotions were taken by
Mrs. Fred McCann. The motto
"A merry heart doeth good like
medicine", was discussed by
Mrs. Crosby Sotheran. The
three doctors (Dr. Diet, Dr.
Quiet and Dr. Merryman) were
stressed as being essential for
good health.
A treasurer's report showed
approximately $100 was clear-
ed from the Milk Producers'
supper. Thank you notes were
read from Miss L. Beswitherick
and Mrs. H. Harris.
An invitation from Lakelet
W.I. for December 3 was ac-
cepted. A get well card was
signed for Mrs. E. Williamson.
The guest speaker, Mrs. Milton
Pries, Reg. N. of Fordwich,
gave a very practical talk on
health and Mrs. Robert Gibson
gave a talk on a display sent
by the Huron Coir .y Health
Unit.
Mrs. Clarence Carswell
gave an interesting report of
the Guelph Area Convention.
The roll call was answered by
"A new item in my medicine
cabinet".
The adopted soldier at
Westminster Hospital is to be
remembered with a Christmas
box. Lunch was served by the
hostess, Mrs. W. Clyne, Mrs.
C. Carswell and Mrs. G. Win-
kel.
