Celebrates 85th Birthday GORRIE-Mrs. Harold Keil of R. R. 2, Gorrie held open house in honor of her mother, Mrs. John Brown, who celebrated her 85th birthday on Saturday, November '7. Seventy friends and neighbors called to extend best wishes. Mrs. Brown is the former Harriet Sharpin, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sharpin. She was born on Con- cession C, Howick Township, where she liyed until coming to Gorrie in 1947. She is now a resident at the nursing home in Harriston. Mrs. Brown's hobby for ma- ny years was quilting and she enjoys recalling the days when she was an active member of the Molesworth PresbyterianLa- dies' Aid quilting circle. She is not able to sew now because of failing eyesight. Mrs. Brown has six daughters, Mrs. Langthan Vogan and Mrs. Andrew Edgar of Gorrie, Mrs. Clare Harris, Fordwich, Mrs. Andrew Gibson of Wroxeter, Mrs. Archie Irwin of Gorrie and Mrs. Keil and one son Clifford STUDY GROUP BELMORE-A study group has been organized in Belmore Un- ited Church for the purpose of studying The New Curriculum, published this year by The Un- ited Church Publishing House, for use in Sunday Schools. The group, under the direction of Rev. D. Steven, minister of the church, will hold meetings about twice a month and dis- cuss the adult study book, "God and His Purpose" by J.S. Thom• son. of R.
