Football
As was predicted, Wingham
ended the football season with
a 3-3 record. The Mustangs
won their third game last Thurs-
day when they defeated the
Mitchell Blue Devils 15-1.
Things got off to a bad start
when Doug Dennis, the defen-
sive inside line backer, injured
his leg. He now has it in a
cast.
Murray Procter scored the
first touchdown in the first quar-
ter and also kicked the convert
to give Wingham a 9-0 lead.
Mitchell scored a safety in the
second quarter to give them
their only point,
John Watson scored the final
touchdown in the third quarter
on a dive play from the five
yard line, Murray Procter
kicked the convert. Murray
Procter also scored a single in
the third quarter when Mitchell
was caught behind the goal line
The final quarter was more
or less a rest as the two teams
battled it out and neither scored
a point.
This was the first year in
the last ten that Coach Camp-
bell hasn't had his team in the
playoffs, but a change is as
good as a rest. (But who wants
a rest?)
The high scorer this year for
the Mustangs was John Watson
with 24 points. Second was
Murray Procter with 18. Doug
Campbell, Norm Corrin and
Max Pletch all had six points
and Bob Lunn had four.
In spite of the fact that the
Mustangs weren't as successful
as usual, I think they all de-
serve three mighty cheers.

Activities
A former teacher of W.D.
H.S. , , Mr. Archer, was in
town last Sunday. Mr. Archer
taught Latin here two years ago_
He was an active individual in
St. Andrew's Presbyterian
Church and he attended the
morning service last Sunday.
It was at this time that some of
his former students renewed
old acquaintances. It is al-
ways nice to see old friends
again.

Good luck to both teams.

What about TV for Students?
A good student is usually too
busy to watch much television,
however, there are several edu-
cational programs which are a
must and these are usually
viewed in order to gain know-
ledge for various school sub-

I do not intend to write
about such programs although I
realize they are of great value.
I would like to make known to
the students of W.D.H.S. a
program called "Looking
Ahead" which is seen every
Thursday at 5 o'clock.
The host of this fascinating
show is Gord Redding, who
along with a couple of students
from the broadcasting area
discusses occupations of today.
It has been calculated that the
area takes in at least 22 high
schools and the program en-
deavours to let these students
become acquainted with a
cross section of job apportuni-
ties available to them.
While I was discussing this
endeavour with the producer,
Larry Taylor, I was pleased to
learn that this program won the
Ontario Teachers' Federation
Award for 1963-64. This
award is given for the best edu-
cational television program-
ming. Last year the program
was only 15 minutes long and
the time has been extended to
one-half hour this season. This
is a great improvement.
For 15 minutes of the pro-
gram films interesting to stu-
dents are shown and the re-
maining portion is spent in a
discussion with a guest from a
specific occupation.
Last week the special guest
was Scott Young from Toronto
and he along with his wife,
discussed their careers in jour-
nalism. I have heard several
favourable comments concern-
ing last week's show, so it is
not only myself who enjoys the
program.
Mr. Taylor told me a few of
the guests who will be appear-
ing on the show in the near fu-
ture. Today, Mr. Ernie Mac-
Donald of the Catholic Family
Centre in London will be dis-
cussing social work. Jim Vern-
on of American Motors Ltd. , is
coming up soon to tell about
the automotive industry. The
Bell Telephone Co. will be
represented in the near future
as well as many oilier occupa-
tions.
I would like to congratulate
CKNX for the educational
work they are doing and as well
I would like to encourage the
students to watch this program
"Looking Ahead" at 5 o'clock
every Thursday.
