125 Attend Tea At Golden Circle
A yellow color scheme was
carried out last Friday after-
noon at the Golden Circle
School when yellow candles
and flowers were used as decor-
ation for the bazaar and tea,
The centre pieces for the tea
tables were made by the stu-
dents.
The event was sponsored by
the principal, Mrs. Jack Rea -
vie and her volunteer helpers.
Wives of the.Association mem-
bers assisted, Mrs. Jim Hamil-
ton receiving the 125 patrons
with Mrs. Reavie and Mrs.
Ross Hamilton and Mrs. Ed
Yeoman pouring tea,
Mrs. Ted English, Mrs, Wil-
liam Forsyth and Mrs. J.C.Mc-
Intyre served and Mrs. Richard
Kilpatrick, Mrs, Hans Schipper
and Mrs. Gordon Sutcliffe were
in charge of the display of
crafts,
Other volunteers at the
school are Mrs. John Strong,
Mrs. Fred McGee, Mrs. Cliff
Robb, Mrs. W. T. Lapp, Mrs.
Stewart Forsyth, Mrs. Stewart
Leedham and Mrs. Ted Elliott,
who help with morning classes
and Mrs. James Seli and Mrs.
James Breckenridge, who are
craft volunteers.
The ladies were well pleas-
ed with the attendance and the
proceeds from the event. The
tea tables netted $29.00 and
$50.00 was realized from the
sale of articles. Those who at-
tended were amazed at the
large and varied display of
crafts that had been made by

Hold Open House
Robert Chettleburgh presided
at the meeting of Sacred Heart
Separate School Board, which
was opened with prayer by Fa-
ther Mooney.
Mrs. Keith Montgomery read
the minutes and financial
statement. A letter was sent to
the Public Library Board, • ap-
pointing Father Mooney as a re-
placement on the board for Fa-
ther Freker.
The board approved a re-
quest from the principal, Mrs.
Mary O'Malley, to hold open
house on December 9 at•8:30
p. m. Mrs. O'Malley also
stated that the teachers will be
available to parents at the
school every Monday from 3:30
to 5 p.m. The teachers will be
glad to discuss problems and
progress of the students if par-
ents wish to visit the school at
these times.
Nominations and election of
the 1965 slate will be held on
December 3 and 4.
Father Mooney closed the
meeting with prayer.

FORDWICH-The general
meeting of the United Church
Women was held in the Sunday
School rooms. The theme of
the meeting was "World Peace
and the United Nations".
The Evening Unit was in
charge of the worship service
which was led by Mrs. A. C.
Coles, assisted by Mrs. Lorne
Siefert Jr. reading the Scripture
and Mrs. Mel Taylor giving a
meditation on "Unity among
Nations". Mrs. Ken Graham,
and Miss Minnie McElwain led
in a sing song of hymns.
The guest speakers were Mr.
and Mrs. R. S. Buck of Han-
over. Mr. Buck told of his
work with the United Nations
under the U. N. F. A:O.,introduc-
ing tractors and modern agricul-
tural implements to the under-
developed countries. Mrs.
Buck showed slides and gave a
commentary on Burma, where
they spent their last five years
in United Nations' work. The
speakers were introduced by
Mrs. A. C. Coles and thanked
by Mrs. Mel Taylor.
Mrs. Wm. Wilson presided
for the business period. Roll
call was "Brotherhood". Final
plans for the Christmas bazaar
and tea on November 21 were
made.

Couple Honored
On Anniversary
A surprise party was held in
honour of Mr. and Mrs. Alex
Nethery on the occasion of their
15th wedding anniversary on
Saturday night. The evening
was spent playing progressive
euchre. High winners were
Mrs. Alex Nethery and Harold
Dawson and low was Larry Ne-
thery.
The couple were complete-
ly taken by surprise when pre-
sented with an electric fry pan.
A delicious lunch was served.
Those present were Mr. and
Mrs. Phil Dawson, Harold and
Murray; Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Dawson, Arnold and Donna;
Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Ritchie
and family, and Mr. and Mrs.
Douglas Machan and Linda.
RECEIVE CERTIFICATES AT SUNDAY SERVICE
The Little Helpers presented
their mission boxes during the
morning service at St. Paul's
Church on Sunday.
Rev. C. F. Johnson, assist-
ed by Jamie Douglas gave cer-
tificates to the children gradu-
ating from Little Helpers.
Those who received certificates
were Marlene Foxton, John
Kennedy, Deborah Yoeman,
Lorna Wenger, David Ritter,
Patricia and Catherine Met-
calfe.
