Rainbow Club
Makes Plans for
Christmas Party
The Rainbow Club met in the
town hall with Mrs. George
Drehmann presiding. The roll
call was answered by 25 mem-
bers and three visitors.
A Christmas party will be
held December 1 at Danny's
Restaurant. Members will meet
at the town hall at 6:45 p. m.
for transportation and there will
be an exchange of gifts valued
at a dollar. The entertainment
committee will be, Mrs. S.
Cowan, Mrs. James Carr and
Mrs. Wm. Bain.
A donation of $25 was voted
to the Salvation Army and $5.00
to Golden Circle School for
Christmas.
Euchre was played. Mrs.
Emily Elston was high lady and
Mrs. Ethel Stewart, high lady
playing as a man. Mrs. Omar
Haselgrove had the lucky tally
and Mrs. Adeline Simmons won
the surprise draw.
Mrs. Robin Campbell, who
was recently married, was pre-
sented with a cup and saucer.
SPARKLING PUNCH
Here's a punch with an elu-
sive cinnamon flavor. It is
economical, but pretty enough
for special occasions. It makes
20 glasses.
1 small package (3 tablespoons)
red-hot cinnamon candy
$ cup sugar
cup warm water
1 46 -ounce can pineapple juice
chilled
1 quart ginger ale, chilled
Combine sugar, candies,
and water; cook over low heat
stirring constantly, until cool.
Then combine with other chill-
ed ingredients.

EUCHRE WINNERS AT
NURSES' RESIDENCE
A euchre patty was held
last Thursday evening in the
recreation room of the nurses'
residence under the auspices
of the Personnel Conference
Committee. Eight tables were
in play.
Prizes went to Mrs. Gordon
Walker, high lady; high man,
Gordon Walker; lady playing
as a man, Miss Lynn Eichen-
berger; low lady, Mrs. Mc-
Donald of Brussels; low man,
Oscar Holmes. The door prize
was won by Mrs. Omar Hasel-
grove.

Bazaar Follows
U.C.W. Meeting
LAKELET- The monthly
meeting of the McIntosh United
Church Women was held in the
church on Wednesday with a
good attendance.
The meeting opened with a
hymn followed by responsive
reading, and the roll call was
answered with a verse on Re-
membrance Day. The minutes
of the last meeting were read
and the treasurer's report given.
Collections were rece ived and
dedicated.
An excellent study period
was conducted by Mrs. Robert
Wood based on Acts 26: 19 to
23 with commentary. Mrs.
Ivan Haskins read an interesting
letter from Miss Jean Bridge-
man, missionary in Indor,India,
written after her return from
furlough.
The annual bazaar andbak-
ing sale followed with a fine
display of homemade baking
and needlework including a
finished quilt which sold for
820.00.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Mac Inglis, Mrs. Clark Ren-
wick, Mrs. Gordon Wright and
Mrs. Bert Bylie.

BAKED PEARS WITH
MARSHMALLOWS
QUICK OVEN DESSERT
6 Canada Choice Canned % tsp. cinnamon
Pear Halves 1 lemon, sliced paper thin
1 tablespoon sugar 6 marshmallows
Place drained pear halves in a baking dish with 1/3 cup of
their juice. Mix sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle
over pears. Place a paper -thin slice of lemon on each pear
,half and a marshmallow on top of the lemon slice. Place
In a moderately hot oven (400°F) for about 5 minutes
or until marshmallows are delicately browned and pears
are heated through. Serve immediately, pouring the juice
left in the baking pan over the spears.
