Born in Morris Township,Mr, Geddes moved to Belgrave in 1899, where he learned the blacksmithing trade. In b)..!t3 he went to Seaforth, whrre he was blacksmith at The Rohl. rt 2:11 Industries until his retire: - n.Mnt in 1952. An active member of First Presbyterian Church, he served ou the hoard of managers for a number of years, and since 1947 had been a member of the ses- sion. While Mr. Geddes was o: a quiet, retiring nature, pre- fern: ; his home and his garden, at the same time he took a keen interest in the community and country, and was an astute student of the political scene. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Porterfield, to whom he was married in 1910. He is also survived by a son, Stewart of London, and Miss Mary I. Geddes, at home, and by two grandchildren, John and Robert. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Box funeral home, with Rev. D. O. Fry, of First Presbyterian Church, offi- ciating. Burial was in Brandon cemetery, Belgrave. Pallbear- ers were Robert McMillan, Clair Reith, Keith Sharp, John Holescher, Charles MacKay and Sid Pullman. Flowerbear- ers were James F. Scott, John W, Thompson, Albert Hudson, Frank Kling, E.C. Boswell and Emmerson Durst. A SPECIAL CEMERONY in the Wingham Park on Sunday morning saw the 21st Field Regiment (M) have the com- mand turned over from retiring Lt. -Col. L. G. Vickars to Major J. D. Harvey. Major Harvey is pictured left facing the 97th Battery of Walkerton and the 99th Battery of Wingham. Former 99th Battery OC, Major Robert Ritter is in front of the Wingham group. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Wil- liamson and two daughters of London spent the week -end here and visited the former's mother, Mrs. Emma William- son in Listowel Hospital. Mr. Everitt Cooper of Huntsville spent the week -end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Cooper and attended the funeral of his brother-in-law, Mr. Norman Stephenson in Brussels on Monday. Mrs. Alex Keith and Mrs. Earl Moore spent one day last week in Kitchener. Miss Janice Steuernol visited Sunday with Miss Leslie Camp- bell. Mr. Earl Ridley of London spent the week -end at his home here. Miss Betty McClement and Mr. Paul Schaefer of Kitchener were week -end visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Tom McClement. A number of men from the Fordwich United Church attend- ed Sing -Time on CKNX on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Don Doig and family of Galt were week -end visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Ross. Doig. The W. A. of Trinity Church held a very successful bake sale and tea on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Connell visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Keith Duncan. Mrs. Wal- ter Hainstock, who has visited the past two weeks with Mr. and Mrs, Trey Hainstock at Milton, returned home with them. Mr. and Mrs. Stan Bride vi- sited over the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Riddell at Lindsay. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Wild - fang, Brian and Paul ofCooks- ville were week -end visitors with Mt. and Mrs. Roy Sim- mons. CONFEDERATION MEDAL ON DISPLAY A very rare medal com- memorating the Confederation of Canada in 1867 will be on display at the 3rd Annual Coin Exhibition sponsored by the Hu- ron County Numismatic Society at the Elm Haven Motor Hotel, Sunday afternoon. The medal is approximately four inches in diameter and a quarter inch thick, and is made out of solid silver. It is believ- ed that now only a few exist, due to the fact that most of them have been melted down for their silver content.
