The president, Miss Irene DeBoer, opened the meeting with the call to wor- ship, The assistant leader, Mrs. Earl Caslick, gave the medita- tion on "Peace". Paul Elliott read the Scripture, and roll call was answered by the chil- dren. The leader, Mrs. Hugh Simpson, gave the prayer. A hymn was sung. Mrs. Cas- lick conducted a contest "'Names of people of the Bible", and al- so told a story, "School Chil- dren". CONGREGATION HOLDS POT LUCK SUPPER WHITECHURCH-On Friday evening at Langside Church a pot luck supper was held by the congregation. Each Sunday school class gave a number on the program and Lloyd Ackert showed slides and gave a com- mentary on his trip with the Kinloss Boy Scouts to Washing- ton. Seals and certificates for at- tendance and work done were presented to the Sunday School scholars. W.I. Sponsors Euchre Party WHITECHURCH-On Wednes- day afternoon the Women's In- stitute held a progressive euchre party in the Community Me- morial Hall. There were ten tables in play. Mrs. Frank Ross gave the opening instructions. Winner of the pink cards was Mrs. Higgins of Belgrave. The win- ner of the white cards was Mrs. Anne Coultes, also of Belgrave. The lucky draw prize went to Mrs. Anne Henry of Wingham. GET A BUCK ON OPENING DAY WHITECHURCH-Monday was the first day of the Bruce County deer hunt, Luck was with Jim Ross and Percy McClenaghan who by eight o'clock had cap- tured a three-point huck. By ten o'clock they had it dressed and were on the trail again, VISIT MRS. GRAHAM ON 82nd BIRTHDAY WHITECHURCH-Visitors on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Neable were Miss Helen Neable of London, Mr. Murray Neable, Brampton, Mr. and Mrs, Gene Tunney, Ricky and Shirley Anne of Inglewood. They also visit- ed with Mrs. Graham of Tees - water to help her celebrate her 82nd birthday which was No- vember 2nd. Mrs. Graham is Mrs. Neable's mother. DONNYBROOK Mrs, Edward Robinson, Mrs, Hilliard Jefferson and Mrs.Wil- liarn Hardy attended the region- al meeting in Blyth last week. Miss Mary Jefferson of Lon- don visited at the week -end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hilliard Jefferson and family, Mrs. Cecil Chamney of Wingham spent a few days with her daughter, Mrs. Sam Thompson, Mr, Thompson and family. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Camp- bell of London visited Saturday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jefferson. A car load of Donnybrook U.C, W. members attended a special meeting at the Auburn United Church on Wednesday evening. Mrs. Hiltz of Exeter was guest speaker. Calvin -Brick congregation is having a congregational tur- key supper in the basement of Belgrave United Church this Friday evening. A short pro- gram will follow the supperper- iod. Evans and Mrs. Victor Emerson. Whitechurch Women's Insti- tute will hold the next meeting Tuesday, November 10th, a Community Family night at p.m. in the Whitechurch Com- munity Memorial Hall. The supper is pot luck with the north ladies as hostesses and special speaker, Clifford Robb. Take your basket of food and meet your old friends and make new ones. Bradley remained with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Russel Chapman for a week's visit. Mr. Bill Scott was busy the past week in Tiffin's Cemetery putting in new cement bases under old monuments, which were falling down due to de- terioration of the bases. Recently the kitchen in the United church received a coat of paint by the ladies of the Wingham Advance -Times, Thursday, Nov. b, 1964 - Page 3 church. The walls are green and the cupboards dusty rose. Ceiling and counter top are yellow. These colours make a bright kitchen. Allan and Mrs. Leader and fa- mily at Clinton, who will soon be leaving for overseas for his new appointment. Monday evening Mrs. Rus- sel Gaunt, Mrs. Russel Ross, Mrs. Johnston Conn, Mrs. Wal- lace Conn and Mrs. Don Ross of the north group of Women's Institute gathered at the home of Mrs. Bill Evans to make plans for the Community Fami- ly Night pot luck supper. Mr. and Mrs. George Ram- sey and Gwendolyn of London were Sunday callers on Mr, and Mrs. Orville Tiffin. Mrs, Ramsey and Mrs, Tiffin were roommates while patients at Victoria Hospital, London. Mr, Joe Tiffin attended a musicians' union meeting in Stratford on Sunday afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Tiffin and Joyce and Mr. and Mrs. Orville Tiffin were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs, Billie McIrnnes of Walkerton. Audrey Ruttan Graduates FORDWICH-Miss Audrey Ruttan graduated on Saturday as a Registered Nursing Assistant from Freeport Sanitorium in Kitchener. The ceremony took place in Iona Hall of the Presbyterian Church. The speaker was the Dr. Finley G. Stewart of Kitch- ener.
