Woman Problem In Ministry Women have the right to be- come ministers of the gospel in the United Church of Canada and a number of women have been ordained. In the Anglican Church women have the right to take theological education hut not to practise or at least to preach. But even in the United Church, where all obstacles to ordination of women have been removed, there is difficulty in placing married women in charge of individual churches, It appears that although women seem to he in the majority in most congregations, they have not been able to overcome prejudice, perhaps their own prejudice, against rninisterswho are women, As for the ten, most of thein are as reactionary as was the great Samuel Johnson when he said, according to Boswell, that a woman as a preacher would be like a dog walking on its hind legs: one would not ex - peer her to do it well and would be surprised that she could do it at all. That learned old curmudgeon lived before there was any discussion of what might Iiabe called "the non- sense" of women's rights. - The Printed Word. mour and Jeffrey of Woodstock visited on Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. Ed Yeoman. -Mr. and Mrs, ,Max McFar- lane of Ilderton were guests on Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. Ross [Hayden and family. -Mrs. Gil Kellaway, Mr. and Mrs. James Henderson and James Jr. and Mr, Ford Hender- son of Paris visited with their mother, Mrs. C.
