Brick U.C.W. held their Octo-
ber meeting at the home of
Mrs. Harry Cook last Wednes-
day. The call to worship was
given by Mrs. Ken Mason, fol-
lowed by a hymn and prayer
read in unison. Mrs. Lawrence
Taylor had charge of the Bible
study from the new study book,
"God and His Purpose". A dis-
cussion period followed.
Mrs. Ronald Coultes read a
poem, "For All the Little
Things". Mrs. Ken Mason read
a short story, "Something for
Thanksgiving", Mrs. Gilbert
Beecroft and Mrs. Ken Mason
showed the film "Jimmie's
Question". A discussion period
followed and Mrs. Alex Robert-
son and Mrs, Beecroft conduct-
ed the business period.
The minutes were read by
the secretary, Mrs. Sidney
Thompson. It was decided to
have a congregational supper
early in November, Mrs. Geo.
McGee and Mrs. Harry Cook re-
ported on the fall rally held at

Calvin -Brick U.C.W. are
invited to attend Whitechurch
Thankoffering meeting on No-
vember 4 at 2:30 when Rev,
Robert Watt will be guest
speaker, show slides of Israel
and give a commentary.
Mrs. Mason Robinson and
her group served the quarterly
tea,
sion as They Stand Today".
She took her audience on a trip
to different countries in the
world explaining the mission
work in each. Christ's com-
mand was "Go ye into all the
world and preach the Gospel."
The population of the world
today is 6 billion people and
10, 000 people die every day
for lack of food. Many coun-
tries today have gained their
independence and resent the
teaching of the missionaries.
In Sudan 300 missionaries were
given one week to pack up and
leave. The speaker mentioned
the 1800 temples with their
beautiful bells in Japan. Idols
in our country are alcohol and
pleasure.
"What can we do?" the
speaker asked. Be informed
about the world. Be inspired to
pray. Increase in numbers and
hence in power. Teach chil-
dren, as they make a wonder-
ful mission field.
Miss McLeod was thanked
by Mrs. Russel Ross and pre-
sented with a gift.
Mrs. Emma Coffin and Mrs.
Dan Tiffin sang "Open Thine
Eyes" with Mrs. Garnet Farrier
as pianist, The presidentclos-
ed the meeting with prayer.
Guests were present from the
United Church. Lunch was
served to an attendance of 25
adults and three children.
