W.I. Gives donation to
Chcren's Aic Sociey
BELGRAVE-The Belgrave
Women's Institute met in the
Community Centre on Tuesday.
Mrs. Stanley Cook presided and
the minutes and treasurer's re-
port were read by Mrs, EarlAn-
derson. The London Area Con-
vention was announced for No-
vember 3 and 4. A donation
of $10.00 was voted to the
Children's Aid Society at God-
erich and any other gifts are to
be taken to the November
meeting.
Mrs. Mel Bradburn was the
convener for this, the historical
research meeting with the
theme, "What happens today is
history tomorrow", The roll
call was answered by naming a
historic place in Ontario. Com-
munity singing was led by Mrs.
Stanley Cook and Mrs. Annie
Coultes. Mrs. Albert Coultes
gave the address on the topic

Miss Karen Anderson of
Scarboro spent the week -end
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Anderson.
Visitors on Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Leslie Bolt were Mrs.
Anne Hodgson, Mr. and Mrs.
Ken Hodgson, Judy, Jane and
Kathy all of Nobleton.
Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Coultes
of Belgrave quietly observed
their 45th wedding anniversary
on Thursday, October 22. ,
Miss Linda Coultes of Water-
loo Lutheran College spent the
week -end with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs, Albert Coultes.
Weekly Euchre
BELGRAVE-The first of the
weekly euchres was held last
Wednesday with five tables in
play.
High lady was Mrs. Gershom
Johnston; high man, Earl Noble
novelty lady, Mrs. George
Walker; novelty man, Herson
Irwin; low lady, Mrs. Fred
Cook; low man, Alan Moores.
It was decided to hold the
election of officers at the nen-
euchre.
"Horne, the Heart of History",
which was illustrated by slides
of homes in the Belgrave dis-
trict shown by Mrs. Ivan Wight -
man, Each member had been
asked to take an article over
50 years old and give its history.
The penny collection was re-
ceived for Mental Health.
Lunch was served by Mrs. Stan-
ley Cook, Mrs, Richard Procter
and Mrs. Garner Nicholson.
The next meeting will be an
afternoon meeting.

An excellent attendance
of Cubs and three leaders were
at the Scout House Thursday
night for the regular meeting.
ACM Mrs. Monty Bennett
opened the meeting and the
Grand Howl was led by the
White Six. Inspection was
made by ACM Miller and ACM
Sinnamon. The Brown Six won
with a perfect score.
ACM Hugh Sinnamon gave
instruction in semaphore to
those working for their Second
Stars. ACM Miller helped
those working toward First Stars
and Mrs. Bennett assisted the
New Churns.
A game was played and the
White Six led the closing howl.

BELGRAVE CUBS
1st Belgrave Cub Pack met
in the Community Centre on
Tuesday evening. There were
15 Cubs and four leaders present
The Grand Howl was follow-
ed by the Lord's prayer in uni-
son with Akela in charge. The
Tawny Six had the most points
during inspection and Robert
White placed their pennant on
the Totem Pole.
Bagherra conducted a hockey
game and then read a story
"The Cry of the Wolf' a ghost
story for Hallowe'en. Raksha
and Baloo both led in games.
Wayne Hopper received his Sec-
ond Star.
The Cubs will again collect
six and eleven quart baskets
which may be left at the com-
munity centre,

WROXETER CLUB
WROXETER--The first meet-
ing of the 4-11 Homemaking
Club was held at the home of
Mrs, William Wright last Wed-
nesday. Officers elected were:
President, Jean Adams; vice-
president, Carol Coupland; sec-
retary, Jean Newton; press re-
porter, Ann Gibson.
The project is " A Club
Girl Stands on Guard" and the
motto is "It's Great to be a Ca-
nadian". There, are 16 mem-
bars and the roll call was an-
swered by ten.
The leader is Mrs. Wm,
Wright and co -leader, Mrs.
Allan Munro. This is the first
club held in Wroxeter since
the 1955-56 season when Mrs,
John W. Gibson was leader. It
is hoped the girls will enjoy the
club and complete the project.

SAFETY PALS
GORRIE-The first meeting
of the Gorrie 2, 4-H project,
"The Club Girl Stands On
Guard", was held at the home
of Elizabeth and Judy Galbraith
with 17 members attending.
Mrs. Clarence Stokes is the lea-
der and Mrs. Russell Adams, as
sistant.
Officers elected are: Pres. ,
Judy King; vice-pres. , Dawna
Bennett; press reporter, Barbara
Thornton.
Mrs. Adams discussed citiz-
enship and demonstrated how to
put on a sling. She also dis-
played a first aid kit.

SAFETY SISTERS
GORRIE-The second meet-
ing of the Gorrie Group 1, was
held last Wednesday at the
home of Miss Margaret Ann
Wilson with the president in
charge and 13 in attendance.
The name chosen for the
club was Safety Sisters.
Miss Damude, home econ-
omist, will be a guest at the
next meeting on October 31 at
1 p, m. at the home of Mrs,
Melvin Taylor. Discussions
were led by Mrs. Taylor and
Miss Wilson on, "The Club
Girl Keeps Fit Mentally",
"Spending Our Time Off' and
"First Aid".

LAKELET CLUB
LAKELET-The first meeting
of the Lakelet 4-H Club was
held at the home of the leader,
Mrs. Gordon Wright with 13
people present, including eight
new members.
The new project includes the
study of the following: The
club girl as a Canadian citizen;
the club girl keeps fit mentally
and physically; public health
services; sanitation and safety
and first aid.
The election of officers re-
sulted as follows: pres., Louise
McComb; vice-pres., Lois
Ferguson; sec, , Janette Wright;
press reporter, Carol Anne
Hohnstein.

WHITECHURCH- The White-
church 4-11 Club met last Tues-
day evening at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Dave King. The pres-
ident, Miss Beverly Solomon,
opened the meeting. The mi-
nutes were read by Miss Tereasa
De Bruyn, Roll call was an-
swered by the eight girls. The
next roll call is a suggestion for
an exhibit or demonstration.
The instruction was on slip
stitching on a sample to be
made for the record book.
The home assignment is to
complete the garments and work
on the record hooes.

Monday at the home of the
leader, Mrs. Hutton. Themi-

Mrs. Hutton gave notes on
posture, exercise, care of the
feet, eyes, teeth, and skin.

The first meeting of the Bel -
more Club was held last Wed-
nesday evening in the Institute
Room. The officers are: Presi-
dent, Cheryl Haskins; vice-
president, Jane Woods; treas-
urer, Margaret Jeffray; press
reporter, Connie Cameron.
Mrs. Johann spoke about the
first aid kit and its contents and
the assistant leader, Mrs. E.
Jeffray gave the topic, "The
Club Girl as a Canadian Citi-
zen".
The second meeting was
held on Monday. The minutes
were read by Connie Cameron
and the roll call was answered
with an item to be included in
the first aid kit.
It was decided to call the
club The Belmore Guardian
Angels. The next meeting
will be held Monday.
The topic "The Club Girl
Keeps Fit Mentally", was given
by Mrs. Johann and "Spending
Our Time Off' was given by
Mrs. Jeffray.
