Chaplain Is Sunday Speaker GORRIE-Miss Carol Robin- son was organist and Miss Lynda Johnston pianist on Sunday when Rev. John S. Bonham, chaplain at RCAF Centralia was guest speaker at anniversary services in Gorrie United Church. Rev. Bonham based his morning ser- mon on "Cost of Discipleship" and in the evening, "Praise Ye the Lord". Bill Jeffray, Belmore, was guest soloist. He sang, "Green Pastures" and "Holy City", The choir sang the anthems, " The Light of the World" and "A Psalm of Praise". Rev. F. Tay- lor, Bruce Robertson, Robert Grainger and Harold Robinson, Mrs. Raymond Gowdy, Mrs. Russell Adams, Mrs. Harry Rhame and Mrs. Ivan Felker formed the double quartet and sang "Eventide". The church was attractively decorated with baskets of chrysanthemums. Following the evening ser- vice, coloured pictures were shown in the Sunday School room of beautiful gardens and churches taken by Rev. Bonham while in Europe in 1962. Gorrie Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Josling, Goderich, spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Cameron. Edgar, Mrs. Bertha Plant spent the week with relatives in London and Saturday evening her daughter, Mrs. Daniel Ward, entertained in honor of Mrs, Plant's birthday. Mrs. Stanley Grainger, Eliz- abeth and Bill of London, and Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Grainger of Exeter visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Grainger. Bus Trip F ORDW ICH- Thirty- four members of the Women's Insti- tute enjoyed a bus tour to To- ronto. They visited the new airport at Malton, toured Pio- neer Village, Casa Loma and the Parliament Buildings. They . shopped and had supper at the new Yorkdale Plaza, which is fabulous. They arrived back in Fordwich at 10. Alan Reed of Lucknow was the bus driver. Mrs. Anderson Gives Story of Bishop Stringer GORRIE- The W.A. of St. Stephen's Church met on Thurs- dayaafternoon at the home of Mrs. R. T. Bennett. The ladies sewed on quilt blocks. For the devotional period Mrs. G. Underwood presided and led in prayer. Mrs. Ben- nett read the minutes of the last meeting and a portion of Scripture was read. The roll call was answered with a verse on giving thanks. Mrs, G. A. Anderson read of the life of the late Bishop Stringer, who was born near Kincardine and spent his life as a missionary to the Indians in Northern Canada. Mrs. Norman Wade read an article on the work of the Bishop's Messengers who work among the Indians and Eskimos in the northern part of Manitoba and Saskatchewan. It was announced that the fall deanery meeting will be held in Trivett Memorial Church, Exeter, on Friday af- ternoon. Rev. G. A. Anderson closed the meeting with prayer. Meeting FORDWICH-Trinity Angli- can W.A. met at the home of Mrs. Spence Brears with the president, Mrs. Elsie Strong presiding. The opening hymn was followed by the prologue and guided soliloquy from the Living Message, led by Mrs. E. Ferguson. Mrs. R. Foster, treasurer, reported on the dinner for the Fair Board which was quite suc- cessful. Mrs. E. Strong re- ported for the Guild. Roll call was answered with a verse on "Thanksgiving". Thank you notes were read and a notice of the deanery meeting, Octo- ber 23, in Exeter . The Dioces- an W.A. meeting will be in Ingersoll on October 21st. Bul- letins were read. Mrs. E. Strong led in the study book "A Woman of the Bible". November 7 was set for the W.A. bazaar in the church basement. Lunch was served by the hostess, assisted by Miss Elva Foster. S.S. Meeting BELMORE-A meeting of Sunday School teachers, super- intendents, and others interest- ed, was held in the United Church on Saturday evening. During the meeting, new class- es were organized, and a new format for opening and closing the church school was discussed, to be used in conjunction with the New Curriculum. The Belmore Sunday School is now divided into seven groups Kindergarten, primary, junior, intermediate, senior boys, sen- ior girls and adults.
