The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Winnifred Hall of Toronto and Mr. Norman Hall of Eng- land and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Norman Coultes, R.R. 5, Wingham. The bride chose a street - length gown of white satin with three-quarter length sleeves and scooped neckline. The bell-shaped skirt was accented by a bow at the waistline. A white organza rose held her shoulder -length veil. She car- -Photo by McDowell r:ed a cascade of white and pink rose buds. Her attendant was her sister, Linda Hall, Toronto. She was attired in a street -length gown of mauve taffeta with matching head -band. The groom was attended by his brother, Jim Coultes, Wing - ham. A reception was held at the home of the bride's mother where a buffet supper was serv- ed to the guests. For travelling the bride don- ned a two-piece suit of yellow boucle. The couple will reside in Toronto where both are em- ployees of the Canadian Im- perial Bank of Commerce. Fordwich Personals Mr. Roy Gadke is at present visiting relatives in the Western Provinces. Mr. and Mrs. Jack King and sons, and Mr. Mark Bellamy vi- sited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. James Valeroite in Guelph. Miss Elizabeth Armstrong of Galt visited over the week -end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Armstrong. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hunt and sons spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Zimmerman near Gorrie. Mr. and Mrs. James Stewart and family visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Stewart. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Simmons, Anne and Kenneth, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hambly, Miss Janie Hambly and Mr. Joe Givens vi- sited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Hambly in Toronto. Fair Booth Nets $160 f©r Guild FORDWICH- The October meeting of St. Anne's Guild was held at the home of Miss Louise Matthews. A chapter from the study book, "Thanks- giving", Thanks-giving", and the Scripture les- son were read by Mrs. Ann Armstrong. Roll call, a verse with" Thanks", was answered by 18 members. The president, Mrs. Wm. Sothern, welcomed the mem- hers and guests. The Guild members were happy to learn the booth at the Fair was very successful with a profit of $160.00. A business discussion followed and members talked of getting new tables for the church. Mrs. Sothern read a short story. Members were reminded of the Golden Book for Charity project. Mrs. Alma Hargrave read an amusing poem, "The Meaning of Life". Rev. G. Anderson closed the meeting with prayer. Mrs. Ruby Arm- strong had some interesting - contests for the group, after which lunch was served by Miss Louise Matthews and Mrs. Flor- ence Foster. GORRIE NEWS Rev. John S. 3onhan, chap- lain at R. C. A.. F, Station Cen- tralia will be guest preacher on Sunday, October 18, at 11:00 a, m. and 7:30 p. m, at the Gorrie United Church anniver- sary services. Guest soloist will be Bill Jeffray of Belmore. Rev. Bonhan will show slides after the evening service, of churches and gardens taken in Europe in 1962. Thanksgiving dinner guests Saturday evening with Mr, and Mrs. Ed Newton were Mr. and Mrs. 13111 Hart, Douglas and Dale of Oshawa, Mr. and Mrs. Mac Newton, Brian, Beverley and Linda, Concession 12, Howick. Mr. and Mrs. Hart spent part of the week -end with other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Strong Mrs. Nettie Hutchison and Mrs. Stanley Edgar of Molesworth re- turned home Monday from a trip to Western Canada. Misses Elaine Miller has ta- ken a position in St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Wade motored to Montreal where they will stay for a short vacation with their son, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wade and family. Judith Wilt Weds Wilfred Latronica GORRIE-Judith Lynn Wilt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ches- ley Frederick Wilt of Harriston and Wilfred William Latronica, son of Mr. and Mrs. William John Latronica of Gorrie were married on Saturday afternoon in Harriston United Church, Rev. J. H. Lake officiated. The bride was given in mar- riage by her father. She chose a white nylon street -length dress with nylon lace jacket with long sleeves, a round neckline, cummerbund and full skirt. Her shoulder -length veil was held by a matching wedding ring headdress. She carried pink roses. Miss Donna Ferguson was maid of honor. She wore a holly green street -length dress of embossed taffeta featuring a round neckline, short sleeves, and A line skirt. Her bouquet was white and pink roses. - James Murray Latronica was his brother's best man. The reception was held in St. George's Anglican Church. The bride's mother received in a black crepe dress, matching accessories and a pink dahlia and fern corsage. The groom's mother wore a mink brown ny- lon ensemble and her corsage was yellow mums. Mr. and Mrs. Latronica will live in Gorrie. VISITING IN CALIFORNIA FORDWICII-Mrs. Gary Me - Clement and Miss Betty Me - Clement accompanied Miss Barbara Brase, who has been visiting relatives here for the past three weeks, to her home in Glendale, California. They left Malton on Sunday by jet plane and will visit with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Brase for the next three weeks. SURPRISE PARTY FORDW ICH- Mr. and Mrs. William Marriner were pleas- antly surprised on Wednesday evening when neighbours and friends gathered at their home to extend hest wishes on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary. The evening was spent in a social way. Bill and Pearl were presented with a smoker for which they thanked everyone and lunch was served. FORDWICH Mr. and Mrs. Don Seabrooke of St. Catharines visited over the holiday week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Doig. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Moore spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bricker at Baden. Mrs. J. Pettiplace of Kitch- ener visited over the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Mar- tin. Mr. and Mrs. Hiram East- man of Listowel called on friends in the village on Satur- day. Mrs. Jessie O'Gorman re- turned home on Monday after visiting the past ten days with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Welsch in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Robinson enjoyed a motor trip last week to North Bay and Ottawa. They also attended the ploughing match at Peterborough. Mrs. Nina Armstrong is • John H. Eckmier Dies in Listowel FORDWICH-John Hanley Eckmier, 57, a resident of this village for the past ten years, died in Listowel Hospital on Friday. He had suffered a long illness. Mr. Eckmier was born at Ethel on October 24, 1906. His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Eckmier. He never married. Surviving are five brothers, William of Atwood, Cecil of Ethel, Russel of Windsor, Mer- vin of Kincardine and Glen of Toronto; and three sisters, Mrs. Edith Gilkinson of Listo- wel, Mrs. Alice Smillie of Wingham and Mrs. Ella McNi- chol, Atwood. A brother, Lorne Eckmier of Brussels, died in 1963. The funeral was on Sunday afternoon at the Reed and Mc- Lauchlin funeral home in Listo- wel, with burial in Fordwich Cemetery. Rev. A. C. Coles officiated. spending two weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Irwin McDowell in Galt, Misses Anne Millar and Jeanne Browne of Listowel spent the week -end at their respec- tive homes.
