Knox Anniversary (Continued from Page One) a Young People's Society was organized. The present church now the United Church, was er- ected in 1899 with the corner- stone being laid by Rev. A. Me- Lean on May 24. The building was completed in November and the opening services were held on the 19th. The church was opened entirely free of debt. Three years later a closed shed was built at a cost of upwards of $700.00. The cost for the shed was soonmet. Mr: Hall remained until 1901. He was followed by Rev. Ferguson, B.A. , whose induc- tion was in March, 1909. His successor in 1913 was Rev. A. M. Boyle, B.A., who was the minister when the congregation celebrated its 50th anniversary. Other ministers between 1914 and 1925 included Rev. J. The ser- vices were held in the Foresters' Hall as the former Presbyterian Church became the United Church. Later the Presbyterian congregation purchased the or- iginal Methodist Church. Belgrave was put into a four -point charge which includ- ed Blyth, Auburn, Smith's Hill and Belgrave. Rev. D. J. Lane was moderator and provided a supply. Later Rev. Mills was the minister and then Rev. A. M. Boyle returned. In 1942 Belgrave Church was served from Brussels and Knox, Belgrave and Melville Presby- terian Church, Brussels were of- ficially joined into one charge in 1945. These funds, used by you local- ly and by the Society in the provincial program, have made a great difference to thousands of crippled children - a chance for improvement and perhaps a complete recovery. Morrison has been the incumbent for about three years. News of Lakelet Week -end visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Gadke were Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Gadke and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Water- strat and family of Buffalo, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Keeso, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Gadke and family and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hohn - stein and family. Those spending the holiday week -end at their homes in- cluded Miss Patricia Gadke of Wingham, Miss Marlene Wylie of Guelph, Miss Sharon Gadke of Harriston, Miss June Wright of Kitchener and Miss Sandra Wright of Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mast of Hespeler visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Reidt on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. L. Van Velsor of Wroxeter were Mon- day visitors at the same home. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Murray and sons Scott and Clark of Kitchener spent the holiday week -end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Dickert. Mr. and Mrs. James Inglis, James Jr. and Mr. Keith Love of Guelph motored to Ridge - town on Sunday and visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. Goldhawk. Mrs. Hazel Tuck of Glenan- nan spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Wylie. Mr. James Inglis Jr. return- ed to Guelph on Monday to re- sume his duties on the teaching staff of the King George Public School. Mrs. James Inglis has returned.
