organized. The present church
now the United Church, was er-
ected in 1899 with the corner-
stone being laid by Rev. A. Me-
Lean on May 24. The building
was completed in November
and the opening services were
held on the 19th. The church
was opened entirely free of
debt. Three years later a
closed shed was built at a cost
of upwards of $700.00. The
cost for the shed was soonmet.
Mr: Hall remained until
1901. He was followed by Rev.
Ferguson, B.A. , whose induc-
tion was in March, 1909. His
successor in 1913 was Rev. A.
M. Boyle, B.A., who was the
minister when the congregation
celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Nearly $20,000
The following letter from
the Ontario Society for Crippled
Children to the Lions Club of
Wingham bears testimony ro the
great assistance which has been
rendered to handicapped chil-
dren, not only by the club but
also by the residents of this
area:
September 2, 1964
Lions Club of Wingham,
Dear Mr. Casemore:
We have received your sign-
ed Easter Seal Agreement and
once again are delighted to
welcome your club as a partici-
pant in the 1965 Faster Seal
Campaign.
Your club has taken part in
17 Easter Seal Campaigns and
has raised a total of $19, 965.07.
These funds, used by you local-
ly and by the Society in the
provincial program, have made
a great difference to thousands
of crippled children - a chance
for improvement and perhaps a
complete recovery.
We look forward to working
with your club in the next
twelve months in the interest of
needy crippled children.
Sincerely yours,
R. Ault
