Beverley Soloman Is 4-H President
The first meeting of the
Whitechurch Sewing Seven was
held Monday evening at the
home of Mrs. Dan Tiffin, as-
sistant leader. The meeting
was opened by the pledge. The
officers elected were president,
Beverley Solomon; vice-presi-
dent, Sandra Fisher; secretary,
Teresa DeBruyn; press reporter,
Alma Conn.
The roll call was answered
by seven members. A discus-
sion on patterns and material
was held. The next meeting
will be held September 14th at
the home of their leader, Mrs.
Thomas Magoffin.

Mr. and Mrs. Russell Chap-
man and Gary attended the
wedding of Miss Connie Wright
and Mr. Jerry Cover in Willow -
dale last Saturday. Mrs. Ross
Smith returned home on Sunday
evening with Mr. and Mrs.
Chapman,
Mr. and Mrs,. Eric Elliot
and family of Ottawa are visit-
ing with Currie relatives in the
district.
Mr. and Mrs, Clarence
Wadle of Zurich spent Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Swan
and family.
Mr, Murray Neable of
Brampton spent the week -end
with Mr, and Mrs. Bill Neable.
Congratulations to Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Neable on celebrat-
ing their 35th wedding anniver*
sary over the week -end.
Mr. and Mrs. James Ketch-
um of Palmerston spent Wed-
nesday evening with Mr. and
Mrs, Carl Weber and family..
Mrs. Carl Weber was ad-
mitted to Wingham and District
Hospital where she underwent
surgery Monday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cham-
bers and Barb Masters, Robbie
and Jimmy Thedorf, of Kitch-
ener, visited on Saturday eve-
ning with Mr. and Mrs. Carl A.
Weber and family.
Mrs. Russell Gaunt and Don-
ald, Grant Currie and Miss
Leah Currie went to Wasaga
Beach on Sunday and visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Eric Elliott
and family, Mr. and Mrs, Eric
Elliott, June and David and
Miss Leah Currie left on a trip
through Northern Ontario, into
the States and to Chicago for
a week.
Mr. and Mrs, I. McClena-
ghan and Nancy of St. Thomas
visited with Mr, and Mrs. Carl
McClenaghan on Sunday. Ron-
nie McClenaghan returned to
St. Thomas with them.

aghan and Mr. and Mrs. Ben
McClenaghan visited on Sun-
day with Mrs. George McClen-
aghan,
Mrs. Ross Smith, Kathy and
Bradley of Toronto, are spend-
ing the week with Mr. and
Mrs. Russell Chapman.

oy Minister Who Christened
Rev, George H. Dunlop un-
ited in marriage Barbara Anne
Coultes of Toronto and David
Ralph Spencer of Montreal in a
ceremony at Calvin -Brick Uni-
ted Church on Saturday, August
15. Mr. Dunlop is the minister
who christened the bride.
Mrs, Norman Coultes was
organist and played traditional
wedding music. The church
was decofated with white glad-
ioli and chrysanthemums.
The bride's parents are Mr.
and Mrs. Cecil Coultes ofWing-
ham and the groom is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Morrison Spen-
cer of Simcoe.
Mr. Coultes gave his daugh-
ter in marriage, Her floor -
length gown of peau de soie
featured a bateau neckline and
lily -point sleeves, and the bo-
dice and skirt were appliqued
with chantilly lace. A train
with lace border fell from her
shoulders. She worea pillbox
hat with silk illusion veiling
and carried a cascade of white
carnations and ivy.
Miss Mary Armes of Windsor,
cousin of the bride, was maid
of honor. Her pale turquoise
silk organza over taffeta dress
was street -length withanorgan-
za train. Miss Lynda Coultes
of Wingham, also a cousin of the
bride wore an identical gown
and their pillbox hats matched.
They carried nosegays of blue
carnations.
George Leck of Niagara Falls
was best man and Dennis Dur-
rant of Simcoe and Walter
Armes of Windsor were ushers.
The reception was held at
the Blue Barn, Listowel. Can-
dles and floral centre pieces of
blue crysanthemums and shasta
daisies decorated the tables.
Mrs. Coultes wore a blue
organza and lace sheath with
blue hat and white accessories.
Her corsage was white mums.
The groom's mother was at-
tired in a blue floral print
sheath with white accessories

WHITECHURCH— The Cal-
vin -Brick UCW met at the
home of Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft
when ten ladies were present
and one visitor. The call to
worship was given by Mrs. Alex
Robertson, Mrs. Sidney
Thompson read the Scripture.
Mrs. Robertson read two
poems, "Fundamentals" and
"The Larger Prayer", The Bi-
ble study was read by Mrs. Nor-
man Coultes, taken from "The
Word and the Way". Offering
was taken by Mrs. Gilbert Bee-
croft and Mrs. Alex Robertson
gave the offertory prayer.
Mrs. Norman Coultes intro-
duced the speaker, Miss Claire
McGowan of Goderich. Her
topic was "Four Keys to Better
Family Living". She was
thanked by Mrs. Alex Robertson.
The minutes were read by
Mrs. Sidney Thompson. The
fall rally is to be held in Ethel,
October 20th. A new supply al-
location was requested for a
girl's parka coat and five
pounds of quilt patches, The
quilt patches are to be taken to
the October meeting and sent
away by November lst.

Mr. and Mrs. Spencer are
graduates of Ryerson Institute of
Technology. They will reside
in Montreal.

WHITECHURCH- The United
Church Messengers met on Sun-
day. They opened the meet-
ing with a hymn, followed by
a call to worship by John Gibb.
A hymn was read in unison,
Mrs. Ritchie read the Scripture.
Nancy Swan received the offer-
ing and Mrs. Sleightholm led in
prayer. Roll call was answered
by 17 members and two visitors.
The minutes of the last
meeting. were read. The group
decided to hold the next meet-
ing Septmber 20th.

GORRIE--Miss Ruth Grainger
was given a personal shower at
Burlington prior to her marriage
with co -hostesses Misses Joyce
Taylor, Betty Godby and Mar-
garet McBain.
A miscellaneous shower was
held at the home of Miss Linda
Fairies, Stratford, with Mrs.
Eurgen Engelke as co -hostess.
A linen shower was held at
the home of Mrs. Kenneth Has -
tie, Gorrie. She was assisted
by Mrs. Robert Strong and Mrs.
Robert Hastie.
