Fred W. Taylor officiated at a marriage ceremony in the Corrie United Church manse on Saturday. Au- gust 22, when Joyce Elaine Ladd of Southampton became the bride of Thomas Robert Ed- ward Moore of Walkerton. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gibbons of Southampton, chose a street- length white lace over taffeta dress with fitted bodice and full skirt. Her shoulder -length veil of silk illusion was held by a headpiece of silk rosettes. She carried a bouquet of red roses. Miss Shirley Moore, sister of the groom, was the bride's only attendant, Her street - length dress was blue nylonem- broidered with white bows. She carried yellow roses. The groom, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ulmont Moore of Wroxeter, was attended by his brother, Charles Moore, of Wroxeter. A reception was held at the home of Charles Moore, with guests attending from South- ampton, Port Elgin, Walkerton, Listowel and Whitechurch. Wroxeter Personals Misses Faye and Ruth Edgar, St. Thomas, visited one day re- cently with Miss Gertrude Bush and Mrs. W, Weir, and Mr, and Mrs. George Gibson, Misses Elva and Evelyn Hup- fer, Wingham, spent Thursday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hupfer. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Ben- der and Melville of MountFor- est visited Mrs. F, F. Wright recently. Mr, Charles Maxwell is vi- siting his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Parks and Mr. Parks in London at present. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McGill- christ of Toronto spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Clement. Miss Linda Green, Goderich, is spending this week with Mr. and Mrs. George Gibson. Mr, and Mrs. John Berger, Woodstock, were week -end guests with Mr. and Mrs, Laur- ie VanVelsor. Mrs. Clarence Clement vi- sited last week with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs, E. H. Fowlie at Smiths Falls, and also called on other relatives. Mrs. Alonzo Sparling and Miss Hazel Sparling are in God- erieh this week. Mrs, Oliver Riley, Doreen, Tharon, Marybeth and Linda Lee spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Charles McCutcheon at Walton where a birthday party, complete with cake and games, was planned for Tharon. Misses Velma Loutit, Carol Adams and Brenda Townsend also at- tended. Mr, and Mrs, John Snell vi- sited Mr. and Mrs, Charles McCutcheon, Walton, Sunday evening. Couple Enter Northern Mission LAKELET—Mr. and Mrs, El- don Byer have accepted an ap- pointment from the Interde- nominational Evangelical Northern Mission for duty at Rupert House Quebec, which is located in an isolated area east of James Bay. Mr. Byer is a student of Theology and Mrs, Byer will be teaching school. The best wishes of the community are extended to them in their chos- en work. Red, White Color Scheme WROXETER—Baskets of white and red gladioli and candelabra decorated Wroxeter United Church on Saturday August 15, for the wedding of Helen Dian- ne McGee of Wroxeter and Mur- ray Allan MacFarlane of Blue - vale. Rev. Fred W. Taylorof- ficiated. Mrs. Ed Martin, organist, accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Allan Henderson, who sang "Wedding Prayer" and "OPer- fect Love". Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd McGee of Wroxeter are the parents of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Mun- go MacFarlane of Bluevale are the groom's parents. The bride chose a formal gown of peau de faille with batteau neckline, lily -point sleeves and fitted bodice. The bodice featured a midriff with appliques of guipure lace and the skirt was controlled, the full back accented by a lace bow. A detachable cathedral train completed the dress. Pearl leaves and crystal sprigs forming a crown held the four - tier shoulder -length veil of silk illusion. The bride carried a cascade of roses and ivy and was given in marriage by her father. A three- storey wedding cake, red roses and candles decorated the table. The grooms's mother was at- tired in a beige sheath dress of chiffon and lace with beige and pink accessories and a corsage of pink mums. For the wedding trip to eas- tern points Mrs. MacFarlane chose a brown figured silk sheath and beige duster, beige and brown accessories and a corsage of turquoise mums. Several Showers Held for Bride Of September FORDWICH—Mrs. Ruby For- ester was hostess for a bridal shower at her home here in hon- or of her niece, Miss Marjorie Connell. Several interesting and amusing readings werecon- tributed by Mrs. D. S. Mac - Naughton of Wingham. Mar- jorie was presented with an electric frying pan. A surprise shower was held for the bride -elect in Toronto, arranged by Miss Jean Foster and Marjorie's college friends, when she was presented with chrome and black bathroom scales and bathroom accessor- ies. Mrs. Robert Connell, Mrs. Ruby Forester and Mrs. Clarence Duncan attended. Mrs. Donald Bort was host- ess at her home in Alma for a miscellaneous shower for Miss Connell. She was assisted by Miss Audrey Ruttan of Kitchen- er and Miss Doris Carswell of Fordwich. Former high school classmates and friends attended. The guest of honor was seated in a chair decorated with pink and white streamers and bells. Several contests were enjoyed. A bride's book was compiled by Mrs, Bott and completed by the guests. "WHAT I MEAN IS," ex- plained the insurance salesman to a bewildered prospect, "how would your wife carry on if you should die?" "Well," answered the farm- er reasonably, "I don't reckon that's any concern of mine --as long as she behaves herself while I'm alive." Trousseau Tea At Connell Horne FORDWICH—Mrs. Robert Connell entertained at a trous- seau tea at her home here in honor of her daughter, Marjorie Elizabeth, whose marriage to Keith Clarence Duncan of At- wood takes place this month. Guests were received by Mrs. Connell and Mrs. C. Duncan, mother of the groom -elect, assisted by the bride -elect. The tea table was decorated with mauve and white streamers centred with white candles -nd shaded mauve sweetpeas and baby's breath. Soth- ern presided for the August meeting of St. Anne's Guild at the home of Mrs. Ruby Farster. Miss Elva Foster gave. the chap- ter from the study book, "When the King Died". Thirteen members answered the roll call by telling what they find relax- ing. Plans were made for the next meeting when Miss Carol Lane, Shell's travel director, will be guest speaker. It was decided to have a booth at the fall fair. Points were counted for the Golden Book of Charity and committees were appointed for the church picnic. Mrs. G. Anderson closed the meeting with prayer and Mrs. Hector Brown served lunch. \Irs. Sothcrn was in cha•ge of the program.
