BEST MILITIAMEN — Doug Walker, of
Walkerton, and Howard Mooney, of Gorrie,
were named top militiamen at the passing -
out ceremony at the ball park last Thurs-
day. The two boys are receiving jackets
presented on behalf of the 21st Field Regi-
ment by Lt. -Col. T. H. Burdette and Major
Harvey, the inspecting officers.—Connell.
Belmore Personals
An unfortunate accident oc-
curred one day last week, when
Alfred Fitzgerald, 7, fell off
his bicycle and suffered a had
cut over one eye. Nine stitches
were required to close the
wound, after which the young-
ster was allowed to return
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Diefen-
baker and John attended the
Pfohl family reunion in Victor-
ia Park, Kitchener, on Monday
of last week.
Misses Audrey and Marlene
Hartung of near Listowel, spent
some holidays last week with
Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Johann
and sons.
Miss Sharon Fitch has re-
turned home after spending
some holidays with her sister,
Mrs. Mel. McCutcheon of
Brussels.
Mrs. Eddelston of Michigan
has spent the last few weeks at
a Lake Huron resort and with
her daughter, Mrs. John Ruther-
ford, Mr. Rutherford, and fa-
mily.
Though rhe Belmore Inter-
mediate Ball Team lost out in
the final series of games with
Kurtzville in the Tri -county
League, the community is very
proud of its players, and feels
they deserve much credit for
their efforts. -
Mr, and Mrs, Wally Watson
and family of Ottawa, visited
with Mr. and Mr;. Alan Darling
and family on Thursday.
Mrs. William Haelzle and
son Clarence, of Mildmay, and
Mr. Steven Grubb of Saskatch-
ewan, called on Mr. and Mrs.
Elmer Zinn on Thursday of last
week. Mr. Grubb and sir.
Zinn were former schoolmates,
Miss Diane Fitch spent a
week at Port Elgin Beach re-
cently.
Miss Elia Poste of Toronto,
visited at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Elmer Jeffray and family
on Thursday.
Dinner guests at the T. L.
Inglis home last Wednesday
were Miss Margaret Mitchell,
Mrs, A. Featherstone, both of
Toronto, Mrs. Ruth Stubbs and
son David, of Bermuda.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Jo-
hann, Gilbert and Steven, at-
tended a Klein family dinner
on Sunday at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Louis Emke at Elm-
wood.
Mr. Earl McNee, who is
convalescing at the home of
his daughter, Mrs. Willer
King at Bervie, called at the
home of Mr, and Mrs. Ken
Dickson on Sunday. Mr, Mc-
Nee was putting up aluminum
windows at the King home on
:Monday of last week, when the
ladder slipped and he fell to
the ground, injuring his back.
He was detained in Kincardine
Hospital for a few days, then
allowed to return to his daugh-
ter's home.
Rev. Evans of Elmira, who
is vacationing at Inverhuron,
attended services in Rev. Doug-
las Steven's charge on Sunday
morning. Mr. Evans is the
man who was responsible for
Mr. Steven's decision to be-
come a minister.
Miss Shirley Harpe is visit-
ing at the home of Rev. and
Mrs. Douglas Steven, and on
Sunday, joined the Mildmay
United Cht:rch.
Miss Lois Simmons of Kitch-
ener spent the week -end at the
home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs, Joseph Simmons.
Mr, and Mrs. Carl Douglas,
Mrs. and Mrs. Leonard Met-
calfe, and Mr. Harry Metcalfe,
were guests on Saturday at the
wedding of Miss Merle Gowdy
and Mr. Murray Underwood in
Wingham United Church.
Mr, and Mrs, Otto Johann
of Owen Sound visited on Sat-
urday with Mr. Henry Johann
and Miss Mae Johann, in the
village.
A Zinn family reunion was
held at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Alan Darling on Sunday
afternoon. Attending were Mr.
and Mfrs, Warren Zinn and fa-
mily of near Dungannon. Mr.
and Mrs, Clarke Zinn and fa-
mily of near Lucknow, and Mr.
and Mrs. Elsner Zinn and Mr.
and Mrs. Elmer Jeffray and fa-
mily of the village.

Harvey Wright on the occasion
of their 30th wedding anniver-

Mrs. Walter Demerling.

attendants of 30 years ago, were
