Master Peter Bride re- turned home after spending a week with his grandparents. Mr. and Mrs, Will - Afternoon Unit Meets at Church FORDW ICI I -The Afternoon Unit of the United church was held in the Sunday school rooms with the worship service conducted by Mrs. Jack Wilson on the theme, "Christ the Light of the World". She was assisted with Scripture reading by Mrs. C. Sothcrn, Mrs. C. Bride and Mrs. C. Carswell. Prayer was offered by Mrs. Pearl Patterson. A solo "Take My Hand and Trust in Me" was sung by Miss Minnie McElwain. Mrs. Jack Wilson read, "A Tri- bute to My Country', in recog- nition of Dominion Day. The worship centre combined the two thanes, "The Union Jack, Thu Christian Flag" and "The Open Bible and the Lighted Candle" Mrs. Wm. Wilson gave a message on Christian Citizenship. Mrs. S. Bride presided for the business period. The roll call was answered by a verse on God's World. A motion was passed to cater to a wedding in September. and Ries and family of llatnil- ton, \irs. Miss Lenore Beswitherick left on Saturday by plane from \lalton airport for France where she will study for five weeks. She will also visit for three weeks in Northern and Southern Ireland. Mrs, Ruby Forster and Miss Mary Corbett spent one day last week with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Corbett in Woodstock. :\Members of the Orange Or- der of the LORA from tlliscom- munity attended the July 12th celebration held in Mitchell on Saturday. Mr. John Armstrong Sr., is at present confined to Walker- ton Hospital. Mr. Lloyd Fitzpatrick and Mr. W. A. Dobson, New West- minster, B.C., Mr. and Mrs. I'. Hannus, Burlington, visited with Mrs, W. Wade and Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Jordon on Sunday. St. Helens Mrs. Gordon McLltyrc of Richmond Hill is spending this week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Miller. Mr. and Mrs. David Gil- mour of Toronto spent the week -end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Wcbh. Jeffray returned home after two weeks here. Miss Nlary Murray is spend- ing two weeks in Toronto with relatives. Mr. John Pritchard visited with his son, Eugene, in a Lon- don Hospital, over the week- end. Mrs. Pritchard has been in the city this week. Mr. Robert Lyons, Jr. is a patient in Wingharn and Dis- trict Hospital.
