Farmer Dies
William Leslie Wightntan,
70, passed away in Queensway
Nursing !Ionic, 1lensall on Mon-
day morning, Ile was born in
East Wawanosh and farmed
there all his life until he re-
tired to Blyth in August 1955.
Ile was a member of Brick
United Church and served on
the session, the board of stew-
ards and the Sunday School ex-
ecutive, For a number of years
he was a director of the Bel -
grave Co-operative Association
and of the East Wawanosh fed-
eration of Agriculture,
In 1931 he married the for-
mer Mary Vipond who survives
along with a family of three
daughters, Mrs, Stanley (Elea-
nor) 11iseler of Welland, Mrs.
Kett (Joan) Crawford of Wing -
ham and Susan of the Cloderic•lt
Public School staff and five
grandchildren. One son, Will-
iam Vipond predeceased hint
in 1940, Surviving also are
three sisters, Mrs, J. A, (Isa-
belle) Young of Lucan; Mrs.
Ross (Elizabeth) King of Wing -
ham and Mrs. Frank (Grace)
MacDonald of Goderich; two
brothers, Rennie of Flint, lMich-
igan and Norman of Welland,
The funeral was held on
Wednesday afternoon from the
Tasker funeral home, Blyth,
with Rev. R. F. McLagan in
charge.
The pallbearers were Alex
Robertson, Sydney Thompson,
Norman Coultes, Gilbert Bee-
croft, Chas. Shell and Gordon
McBurney. Nephews acted as
flower bearers. Interment was
in Wingham Cemetery.

The Aitken reunion was held
on Sunday at the home of Mr,
and Nirs. Wilfred Johann of Bel -
more, Sixty-five members of
the family were in attendance.
