Mr, and Mrs, Jack Johnston and family spent the week -end Hopper Reunion Heki on Sunday BELGRAVE-The sixth an-. nual Hopper reunion was held on Sunday at the Stone School with about 100 persons attend- ing, Sports were enjoyed and a picnic lunch was served. Officers for 1966 are: Pres- ident, Stan Hopper; secretary - treasurer, Mrs, Stan Hopper; games committee, Fred Hopper, Ken Forbes; lunch committee, Mrs. D. A. Rann, Mrs. May Bryans, Mrs. Margaret Kerr, Mrs. Muriel Garniss, William Hopper of Seaforth was the oldest member present. Youngest child present was Leisa Garniss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Garniss of Brussels. Mr. and Mrs, Charles l lopper and two sons received the prize for coming the fur- thest distance. They were from Royal Oak, Michigan. Guests were present from London, Detroit, Seaforth, Bridgeport, Goderich, Neustadt, Wingham, Belgrave and Brus- sels. with Mr, and Mrs. Gershon: Johnston and also with Mr. and Mrs, W. J. Stanley of Luck - now, Congratulations to the teacher, Mrs, George Kennedy, and pupils of the Fordyce School who passed their ens trance examinations. Helen Currie left last week for work at 'Jack's Ranch"at North Bruce for the summer months, Week -end visitors at the home of Mr. and 'Ars. Bill Nea- ble were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Neable and family of Brampton, Mr, and Mrs. Gene Tunney and family of Inglewood, Ontario, Mrs. M. Graham of Teeswater and Mr. Graham Neable of Sebringville. Mr. and Mrs, George Po- cock of Lambeth sisited at Mr. and Mrs. Alex Leaver's on Sun- day and called another relatives in the community. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ben- nison of Powasson visited over the week -end with Mr, and Mrs. Ivan Laidlaw and Mr, Herb Laidlaw, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stock - hill and family of Timmins are spending their hal:days at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Pike of Brussels, Mr. and Mrs. Wil- bert Schwichtenherg and Lori Jayne of Port Elgin and Mr. and Mrs, Jack Coultes and Deb- ra Ann of Wallaceburg visited on Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. Albert Coultes. Sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs, David King and family of Culross in the loss of their son, Claire, who passed away last Friday at his home, Miss Janis Farrier and San- dra Fisher are spending this week with Mr. and Mrs. Gor- don Fisher of Guelph. Mrs. Robert Ross, who has been a patient in the Wingham and District Hospital, returned to her home last Wednesday. Mr, George Conn leaves Monday for a six weeks' course at Western University, London. Those attending the bus trip from Whitechurch with the Wingham Institute ladies were Mrs. Lester Falconer, Mrs. Ez- ra Scholtz, Mrs. Russel Ross, Mrs, Thos. Metcalfe, Mrs, Frank Ross, Mrs. Ed. Walker and Mrs. George Walker. They visited at Hamilton, Burlington and called at St. George and saw the Adelaide Iloodless House and also the monument at Stoney Creek. Mr, and Mrs. Dan Tiffin, Barry, Joyce and Mrs. Ethel Stewart of Wingham attended the concert held in the Bluevale Park on Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs, Russel Ritch- ie are keeping house for Mr. Victor Emerson and Jack Ait- cheson, while Mrs. Emerson is away attending the convention in Nova Scotia. Norman and Donald Kirk of Lighthouse Point, Florida, are visiting a few days at the home of their aunt and uncle, Mr, and Mrs. J, D. Beecroft, They will continue their trip on up to Alaska. PRESENTATION BELMORE- A presentation and dance was held in the Com- munity Centre on Friday eve- ning of last week, when the community honoured Mr, and Mrs, Cecil Horton, the further Donna Renwick, An address was read by Miss Norma harper, and the newlyweds were present- ed with a purse of money. Mu- sic for dancing was provided by Farriers' Orchestra, GARDEN PARTY LAKELET- A successful garden party was field on Wed- nesday evening at McIntosh United Church with over 300 attending. Couple Move FQRDWICH -Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Eastman moved their household effects to R. R, 1, Gowanstown on Saturday. The neighbours presented them on Friday night with a satin hound blanket, Mr. and Mrs. E. strnan are leaving town to he near their daughter, Mrs. Bert Carter, Since Mrs. Eastman has been i11 she is unable to carry on household duties. Many a girl who can't even add can often distract! Mission Band Met Sunday W I1ITI:C11URCI I The Whitechurch Presbyterian Miss- ion Band held its meeting on Sunday at the manse. The pre- sident, Irene DeBoer, was in the chair and gave the call to worship. A Hymn was sung, Linda McWhinney read the Scripture. Jimmy IN: Boer gave the prayer. Darlene Simpson read the minutes of the last meeting, The roll call was answered by 24. Bobbie Ross took up the of- fering and Mary Lou Wall gave the offertory prayer, Mrs. Cassie Falconer gave a reading. Mrs. Kuiper and Murray Mc - Whinney each read a story. Mrs. Hugh Simpson had a contest between the girls and the boys on " i low Well Did You Listen?" The boys were the win- ners. A hymn was sung and the meeting closed with the Lord's prayer, Life Membership, Charter Member FORDWICII-Members of the Ladies' Auxiliary to liowick Legion held a social evening aT the home of Mrs, Wm. Mc- Cann. Progressive euchre was played, Mrs. William Sothcrn being high winner and Mrs. Jack Clarke won the consola- tion prize. At the close, one of the members, Mrs. Ross Doig, was presented with a life member- ship pin and citation, Charter Member Mrs. Wm. Austin made the presentation. Although much surprised, Mrs. Doig thanked the ladies for the great honor.
