returned to his home on Satur-
day, after more than three
weeks in the Owen Sound hos-
pital, We wish him continued

Kitchener spent the Father's
Day week -end with Rev, and

Palmerston, visited on Friday

Abraham's granddaughter,
Miss Janet Duncan of Glen Wil-
liams, is spending this week
with the Abrahams.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Col-
lison and family of Greenock
and Mr. George Gamble of
Teeswater, were Sunday dinner
guests of Mr. and Mrs. James
Struthers.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Robb

Mrs. William Mulvey and Jef-

Sympathy is extended to the
Fitch family in the loss of their
father and grandfather, Mr.
John Fitch, Sr., who died at
Clinton on Saturday.

ROYAL BLACK KNIGHTS
MAKE DONATIONS
FORDWICH-Huron County
Royal Black Knights of Ireland
held their meeting in the Wing -
ham Orange Hall. County Mas-
ter W. II. Scott presided and
gave a report of the Grand Lodge
held in Sault St. Marie.
A sizable donation was made
to the Crippled Children and an
operating table to the hospital
of Sault Ste. Marie by contribu-
tions of all the preceptories in
the Jurisdiction of Ontario West.
A testimonial banquet for the
Grand Master and a church set -
vice were planned. An precep-
tories were represented.
Addresses were given by W.
O. Oliver Jacques of Varna,
Deputy Grand Master of Ontario
West and George Nelson of Tara,
County Master of Grey -Bruce.
W.M.S. Meeting
BELMORE-At the Junt meet-
ing of the W. M. S. Mrs. Ken-
nedy gave an informative talk
on the W. M. S. training centre
held at Luther College, i'egina,
which she attended last year.
Her demonstration on how a
worship service could be centr-
ed around a hymn was most ef-
fective.
Mrs. McPherson, first vice-
president, presided at the meet-
ing. Mrs. John Dickson read a
Psalm. The roll call was an-
swered by 12 ladies.
The ladies were reminded
that knitting and other articles
for the bale must be ready by
September. Mrs. McPherson
closed the meeting with prayer.

Mr. George Inglis and Fran-
ces visited with Miss Nellie
Doig and Mr. Jack Doig, who
has just returned from Owen
Sound hospital where he under-
went surgery.
Word has been received from
Mr. Arthur Langman who ispre-
sently visiting in Holland that
he arrived safely and is enjoy-
ing his visit there.
Misses Brenda and Barbara
Stapleton of Wingham spent
the week -end with Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Wright and Valerie.
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Farrish
of Wingham visited Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Wright on Sunday.
Surprise Party on
35th Anniversary
DONNYBROOK -A surprise
party was held Saturday evening
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Jefferson, by the fa-
mily and relatives, to celebrate
their 35th wedding anniversary.
Those attending were Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Campbell of
London; Mr. and Mrs. Wesley
Jefferson, Debbie, Brian, Ger-
ald, Doreen and Barry ofDonny-•
brook; Mr. and Mrs. Don Jef-
ferson of London; Mr. and Mrs.

Mr. and Mrs, James Leddy, NIr.
and Mrs. Murray Wilson and
Gregory of West Wawanosh; Mr,
Edward Robinson, Jim and Bill
all of Donnybrook; Mrs, J. C,

The faintly presented them
with a space saver and the other
relatives gave them a cornflower
bowl and aluminum lazy Susan.
Although a complete surprise to
them Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson
made fitting replies for the
good wishes and the beautiful
gifts they had received. A buf'
fet luncheon was served and a
social time spent together.

A large crowd attended the
supper given in Knox Presby-
terian Church school room on
Wednesday evening, and en-
joyed a fine repast prepared by
the ladies of the church, and a
social time.
Service in Bluevale United
Church was withdrawn last Sun-
day owing to Whitechurch Uni-
ted Church anniversary.
Miss Gail Kirton and Miss
Mary Craig having completed
their commercial course at
Wingham and District High
School, have secured positions
in Kitchener. The former is
with the Mutual Life Assurance
and the latter in the office of
the Kitchener Record.
Mr. and Mrs. George. Lowis
spent the week -end in Spring-
field.
Rev. G. C. Mitchell and
Mrs. Mitchell spent a few days
in Toronto last week,
Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Adair, of
Huntsville, and Mr. and Mrs.
Bruce Adair, of Toronto, were
in the village at the week -end,
attending to matters relative to
the estate of their brother, the
late Mr. Jack Adair, who died
recently.
Mr. and Mrs, J. K. McTav-
ish and family, of London,
were week -end visitors with
Mr, and Mrs. R. Il, McKinnon.
Mr. and Mrs. George Heth-
erington visited in Teeswater
on Sunday.

the 25th anniversary of the
marriage of their sister, Mrs.

Mrs. George Metcalfe of
Wingham, the former Georgina
Nies, Reg, N. of Kitchener,
held in the Community Centre
on Friday evening.
An address was read by
Donald Eadie and Jim Douglas
presented the newlyweds with
an envelope of money. Lamb -
kin's Urchestra played for Jane -
The young bride announced
to the grocer. "1 want to buy
some oysters."
"Large or small, madam?"
he asked.
Faced with an unexpected
decision, she studied a moment,
"Well," she reasoned, "they're
for a man with a size 15 col-
lar "

A hymn was sung, and
Scripture was read and com-
mentary given. Prayer was of-
fered, and an interesting read-
ing by Mrs. Len Harper fol-
lowed.
During the business meeting
$26.00 were voted to ;Miss
Lowrie, a missionary on fur-
lough, who is returning to Ja-
pan.
A bus trip was discussed and
a committee of Carl Douglas,
Jack Ferguson and Fred Double -
dee was named to make, ar-
rangements. Anyone interest-
ed should contact one of these
men.
Rev, and Mrs. G. Howard
Pace were then presented with
a gift, this being their last
meeting before taking up their
ministry at Crystal Beach,
A duet was sung by Mrs.
Gordon Wright and Mrs. Jack
Ferguson. Progressive crokinole
was enjoyed and lunch was
erved. The meeting conclud-
ed with the hymn, "Blest Be
the Tie that Bind:", and the
Mizpah benediction.
