Mrs. Bertha De Groot visited
Wednesday with Mr, and Mrs,
Simon De Boer of St, Helens..
Mr. George Thompson has
been engaged at the Wingham
and District Hospital as a main-
tenance man. lie began his
duties this week.
This community extends
sympathy to Ezra Scholtz in
the passing of his mother, Mrs.
Emerson Dennis, 85, of Blyth
in the Clinton Hospital on
Tuesday. The funeral service
was held on Thursday at the
Tasker funeral home with bur-
ial in Union Cemetery, at
Blyth,
Mr, Alex. Hand has left the
Wingham and District Hospital
as maintenance man and has
secured a position in Kitchener.
Mr, Russel Gaunt was re-
leased on Friday from Wingham
and District Hospital,
Mr. and Mrs. Wm, Brown
of Lucknow spent a few days
with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tif-
fin.
Mrs. Garnet Farrier and
Mrs. Albert Coultes attended
the funeral of the late Mrs.
Emerson Dennis in Blyth on
Thursday.
Mr. John MacKay went to
London on Saturday to attend
the wedding of his nephew, Mr.
Donald MacKay, son of Rev.
Angus and Mrs. MacKay, miss-
ionaries home on furlough from
Jhansi, India.
Mr. Garry Willis of Streets-
ville spent the week -end athis
home here.
Miss Elaine Conn of Toronto
spent the week -end with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace
Conn.
Mrs. Claude Coffin received
word Saturday that her sister-
in-law, Mrs. Wm. Leight of
Sarnia, had passed away. They
came for her on Sunday and
she returned with them to ac-
company the remains by train
to Montreal, where the funeral
was held on Wednesday. Alex
and John Coffin went to Kitch-

Scott Reunion

WHITECHURCH- The Scott
reunion was held at the home
of Mr, and Mrs. Norman Coul-
tes in East Wawanosh on Sat-
urday.
By the noon luncheon around
60 had gathered and by after-
noon around 130 had arrived.
The afternoon was spent in
contests, games, races, and
softball games.
The president, Lloyd Scott
of Alma, presided. Mrs. Lloyd
Scott, secretary, read the
minutes. The election of of-
ficers was held: President,
Harry Scott; lunch committee,
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Scott of
Guelph, Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Scott, Fergus. A recreation
committee was also appointed.
After the election of of-
ficers the lunch committee
served refreshments. Guests
were present from Alma, Fer-
gus, Elora, Elmira, Guelph,
Hamilton, Woodstock, Wind-
sor, Listowel, Mount Forest
and Ashfield.
Bus Trip
To Toronto
WHITECII['RCH-Pupils of
Fordyce School under the su-
pervision of their teacher, Mrs,
Olive Kennedy, took a bus trip
to Toronto on Friday and visit-
ed Fort York, went across on
the ferry to the island and had
their noon luncheon there.
They visited Casa Loma,
the Museum and to conclude
the day attended Country Hoe-
down and saw Gordie Tapp in
person.
Accompanying the scholars
were Mrs. John Jamieson, Earl
and Ronnie, Mrs. Bill Rintoul,
Mrs. Norman Rintoul, Mrs.
George McGee, Mrs. L. Why-
tock, Mrs. Gordon Taylor,
Margaret and Patsy, Mrs. Mac
Cardiff, Mrs. Walter Elliott,
Mrs. Archie Purdon, Mrs. Don
Martin, Mrs. Harold Gaunt,
Mrs, Geo, Webster, Mrs. Wm.
Purdon, Mrs. I'Iroy Laidlaw and
Miss Sandra Hill.
and Mrs. Lawrence Taylor over
the week -end were Miss Ruth
Taylor, Toronto, Mrs. George
Taylor and Tom of Hamilton
and Mr, and Mrs. Jim Moss
and Theresa of Hamilton. Mr,
and Mrs. George Taylor are
leaving Hamilton and going to
a new position at Barrie,
Miss Doreen Taylor, young-
est daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence 'Taylor, was admitted
to Wingham and District Hospi-
tal last Thursday with pneu-
monia.
Mr. Rickey Tunny of Ingle-
wood accompanied Mr. Murray
Neable to his home here and
spent the week -end with Mr.
and Mrs. Wm, Neable.
Mr. and Mrs, Gordon Mc-
Burney were Sunday callers on
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson of
Wingham.
Mr. Jim Bird is assisting Mr.
John Gaunt with his work at the
sawmill during the rush season.
Mr. Jerry Robinson, son of
Mr, and Mrs. Calvin Robinson
has finished a seven month's
course at Drauillard School of
Barbering, London, and will
spend a week at home prior to
starting work.
Misses Claire Chamney of
Toronto and Sandra of London
spent the week -end with their
parents, Mr, and Mrs, Clarence
Chamney.
Mrs. F. L. Creighton and
her daughter, Mrs, Robt. Too-
ney of Greenville, South Caro-
lina, spent the week -end with
Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Beecroft,
Mrs. Creighton is Mrs. Bee -
croft's sister.
Mrs. Ezra Welwood of Wing -
ham and her sister, Mrs. Harry
Stewart of Winnipeg, visited
on Saturday with Mr. and Mrs.
J. D. Beecroft. Mrs. Stewart
intends to return this week to
Winnipeg.
Mrs. Mable Stapleton, after
visiting for a couple of weeks
with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jamie-
son, has gone to visit with rela-
tives in Wingham.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tiffin,
Mr. and Mrs. Clark Johnston
and Janette accompanied Miss
Linda Johnston Sunday to Wa-
terloo where Miss Johnston be-
gan work with Mutual Life Co.

On Sunday the beautiful flo-
ral bouquets in the United
Church were placed by Mr. and
Mrs. Ezra Scholtz in memory
of his mother, the late Mrs.
Emerson Dennis.
Anniversary services will
be held at the United Church on
June 21 with Rev, J. Thompson
of London, a former missionary
of Trinidad, and now secretary
of the British Foreign Bible So-
ciety, bringing the messages
at 11 a.m. and at 7:30 in the
evening. A cordial invitation
Fatal Accident
Youth Thrown
From Convertible
WHITECHURCH-Word was
received last Wednesday by
Mr. and Mrs, Lester Falconer,
of Culross, and other relatives
here, of the death of Ronald
George Falconer, 17 of Water-
loo. Ile was the grandson of
Lester Falconer's brother, John
Falconer.
The youth was the son of
Mrs, George Falconer and the
late Mr. Falconer, who was
killed in a plane crash in 1957.
Mrs. Falconer, a nurse at
Kitchener -Waterloo Hospital,
was on duty when her son was
admitted following an accident
when he was thrown from a
convertible that failed to make
a left turn, and landed on its
wheels in a field. The young
man died shortly after the
mishap.
Surviving are his mother,
two sisters, Cecelia and Anne,
and a brother, Raymond, all
at home; his grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. John Falconer ofKit-
chener and Mr, and Mrs. Jas.
Brown of Marlbank, Ont.
The retrains rested at the
Walsh-Sandrock funeral home
and requiem high mass wasce-
lebrated at tit, Louis'Rornan
Catholic Church at eleven
o'clock Friday morning. In-
terment was in Mount Hope
Cemetery, Waterloo.

WMS Meets at Tiffin. Home
WIIITECHURCH-On Thurs-
day afternoon the Langsfde W.
M, S, met at the home ofMrs.
Charles Tiffin. The president,
Mrs, Gordon Wall, opened the
meeting in the usual manner
and gave the call to worship.
A hymn was sung. Mrs. James
Richardson read the Scripture
and Mrs. George Conlon gave
the meditation.

day 5, S. No. 9 (Murray's
School) under the supervision
of the teacher, Mrs. Orville
Elliott, enjoyed a bus trip with
Allan Reed as bus driver to the
Federated Colleges, Guelph
and Kitchener, Mrs. Wm. Ev-
ans, Mrs. Wm, Scott and Mrs.
Frank Miller accompanied the
scholars on the trip,

to join in these services.
On June 26th a bus trip is be-
ing sponsored through the Wo-
men's Institute to visit the Ad-
elaide Hoodless Homestead at
St. George, Stoney Creek, and
Hamilton. A few from here are
planning on going on this trip.

Church on June 2lst will hold
its 96th anniversary .. a t 11
o'clock in the morning and 8
in the evening. Rev, R. T. A.
Marshall of Strathroy, a former
minister, will be guest speaker.

Messengers Will
Provide Program
WHITECHURCH-The United
Church Messengers held their
June meeting under the super-
vision of the leaders, Mrs.
Clarence Ritchie and Mrs. E.
Sleightholm.
The president, Miss Cathy
Soloman, opened the meeting
with the call to worship, "Come
with Hearts Rejoicing". Scrip-
ture was read in unison, Mrs.
Sleightholm led in prayer. Miss
Linda Purdon received the of-
fering and the prayer was given
by Miss Janet Sleightholm.
The minutes were read by
the secretary, Miss Dianne
Swan. Mrs. Ritchie thanked
the Messengers for their mite
boxes. The Messengers will
put on the program for the U,
C. W. meeting to be held July
1 at the home of Mrs, Millan
Moore.
The seniors and juniors each
went to their group with their
leader for the study book per-
iod.

Campaign Enc of June
WHITECHURCH- The June
meeting of the Women's Insti-
tute was held last Tuesday eve-
ning in the Community Memo-
rial Hall with the president,
Mrs. Claude Coffin, presiding.
She warmly welcomed thirteen
members and three visitors.
Arrangements were made to
be hostesses at the Log Cabin
Museum in Southampton on
Sunday, July 12. Mrs. AIbert
McQuillan, Mrs. Tom Jamie-
son, Mrs. Ed. Wacker and Mrs.
Russel Ross were appointed to
be responsible but as many fa-
milies as possible are asked to
attend. Mrs. Coffin asked that
all collectors for the Red Shield
drive turn in their collections
by the end of June.
Current events were given by
the convener, Mrs. Wallace
Conn, who also told about the
"Ookpik" .
The highlights of the Bruce
South District annual were giv-
en - by the district director,
Mrs. Dan Tiffin. The nextan-
nual will be held at Berv:c and
the directors a:;d executive will
meet at Belmore.
A meeting is to he devoted
to poison, ns use and misuse,
and a report seat to Mrs. Vick -
ruck, .R. 5, Port Arthur. Any-
thing done in cultural activities
is to be reported to Nirs. S. Pan-
ting at Bala, Ontario. The
F.W. I. O. is spending $100 on
the Peace Gardens to make Ca-
nada lovelier. Bruce South
District will sponsor "Song" the
little Korean girl. Mrs. Geo,
Walker reported on the confer-
ence held at Guelph for district
directors.
Mrs, Annie McQuillan gave
a reading, "The Fight in the
Wilderness". Mrs. Dan Tiffin
gave a musical number. The
roll call was answered by a
holiday safety rule. Mrs. Geo.
Fisher and Mrs. Victor Emer-
son served lunch.
