Among those attending were Mrs. A. Duke, Don,. Mac and Norman Duke, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hooper and Mr. and Mrs. Jim McArthur of Ottawa, Mr. and Mrs. Greg Duke, Mrs, Les- lie Wilson and Mr. Jim Duke of Toronto. Cousin Graduates At Stratford FORDWICH-Misses Louise and Letitia Matthews and Mel Batters attended the graduating ceremony for nurses of the Stratford General Hospital School of Nursing in Stratford on Saturday. One of the graduates, Miss Joan Friar of Paisley is a cousin of the Misses Matthews and was the valedictorian. Miss Friar received three awards. On her way home to Paisley she came across an accident in which a victim was seriously in- jured, and applied her skill as a graduate nurse. Ken Grant, Mrs. Ronald Bennett, Mrs. James Walker, Mrs. Duff Bell, Mrs. Rosemary Campbell, Mrs. Beverley Petrie, Miss Sharon Pollock, Miss Margaret Ann Wilson, Miss Sharon Merkley, Mrs, Cecil Wilson, Miss Pat Harris and Miss Catharine Grant. The wedding hook was signed by 150 guests. Two Couples Are Honored FORDWICH-A presentation was held at S. S. No. 9 on Friday night in honour of two couples, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mc- Arthur (Betty Duke) of Ottawa and Mr. and Mrs. Carson Crow- der (Doreen Artnstrong)of Peter- boro. Miss Glenna llibberd read the address and Mrs. John Top- ham, Mrs. Dean Holborn and Mrs. Scott Clarkson presented each couple with an occasional chair, step-up stool and vase. Fitting replies were made. The evening was spent play- ing progressive euchre and lunch was served. 10th ANNIVERSARY Pub. Library Was Community Effort BLUEVALE- Open House" , in celebration of its tenth anniver- sary, was held in the Bluevale Public Library on Saturday af- ternoon. The tea table was decorat- ed with spring blooms, candles and an anniversary cake. Pouring tea were Mrs. T.E. Kennedy and Miss Ruby Duff. Assistants were Mrs, J. V. Fis- cher, Mrs. G. C. Mitchell and board members Mrs. Harry Elliott, Mrs. George Hether- ington, Mrs. James Johnston, Mrs. Gordon Mundell, Mrs. Charles Campbell and Mrs. A. D. Smith. Miss Jane Camp- bell had charge of registration. Among the guests were Mrs. Glenn Eckmier, former county librarian at Goderich, now head librarian of Scarborough Public Library. The building of the library ten years ago was a commun- ity effort. Donations of money and labor were received from residents and many former re- sidents contributed money gen- erously. It is considered to he one of the best rural libraries. Mrs. Harry Elliott is librarian, C.G.I.T. Holds Last Meeting BELGRAVE--The regular meeting of the C. G.I. T. was held on Wednesday, the final meeting of the season. The opening sing -song was led by Joyce Coultes. A discussion was held on the Mother and Daughter banquet to be held on June 18 and final plans were made. The group decided to give a donation of :110.00 to missions. The crafts were then completed. Mrs. Arthur Jackson took charge of the worship service and gave the call to worship, followed by a hymn. Scripture and meditation were read by Mrs. Jackson. Joyce Coultes received the offering and the benediction was pronounced by Mrs. Jackson. Some speakers need no intro- duction. They need conclu- sions. Wed in Toronto WROXETER-A wedding of interest to many in the district took place recently in Forest Hill United Church, Toronto, when Robert George Gold of Willowdale took as his bride, Suzanne Middleton of Toronto. Bob is the son of Mrs. Albert Gold, formerly Marjorie Paulin and the late Mr, Gold, Those attending from the surrounding district were Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Paulin and Francis, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Foxton, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Burke, (Godparents of the groom), Mr. Wilfred Brown, and Mr, and Mrs. George Pau- lin. Miss Margaret Paulin was one of the bridesmaids. Fordwich News Misses Lenore and Violet Beswitherick were Kitchener visitors on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Moore visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bricker in Baden. Mr. Doug Wildfang of Cooksville spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sim- mons. Mrs. Wildfang and Brian returned home after spending a few days here. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ross and family of Weston were week -end guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Ross. Miss Janie Hambly of Kit- chener spent the week -end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hambly. Thelma Gowing Is Graduated Thelma Elizabeth Gowing, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gowing, R. R.2 Bluevale was one of a class of 88 who graduated from the Victoria Hospital School of Nursing on May 22nd, held at Thames Hall, University of Western On- tario. Relatives and friends attend- ed from Bluevale, Brussels, Wroxeter, Kincardine, Brant- ford and Ottawa. BLUEVALE Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Groves and Mr. Bill Raney of Akron, Ohio, spent the week- end with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hall, and and on Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hall and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scott and family of Newton and Mr. and Mrs.Jack Hall and David of Brussels visi- ted at the same home. Mr. and Mrs. Groves and Bill Raney left for home Monday morning. The junior choir, composed of Sunday school scholars, sang two anthems. The boys' quar- tet, David Beecroft, Jim Ro- bertson, Hugh and Ronald Mc- Burney sang "Now 1 Belong to Jesus". Mrs. George McGee is pianist and Mrs. Norman Coultes and Mrs. Sidney Thompson are her assistants. The speaker's theme was, "Playing the Game".
