Troop Receives Colours A very inpressive ceremony toots place at the Salvation Army Citadel Tuesday night when the new colours of the 1st Wingham Cubs and Scouts were dedicated and presented to the boys. "Onward Chrisian Soldiers" was sung and the challenge to hold the ban- ners high was read from Psalm 62. The prayer of dedication asked for God's blessing not on- ly for the new flags but also in the work of the Cubs and Scouts as they go forward into life, Dr. Murray MacLennan pre- sented the Queen's colours to the Scouts and both Cub packs, on behalf of the Lions CIub. Jack Bateson, representing the Kinsmen Club, presented the new pack colours to A and B packs, It was a proud moment for all present as the colour parties and leaders knelt to receive the flags. The first occasion for parading the colours will be at the annual district church pa- rade in Brussels on June 7.(Note the change of date.) The Cubs, Scouts, leaders and the Group Committee are grateful to the Lions and Kins- men for these gifts. They will be proudly displayed at the troop booth at the Kinsmen Trade and Agriculture Fair, Horace Greeley always in- sisted that the word "news" was plural. He once wired a -reporter: "Are there any news?" The Grand Howl was led by Blue Sixer Randy Hafermehl. Flag -break was followed by the singing of '0 Canada'. General inspection was carried out by Akela and Raksha. A vigorous game of 'Capture the Flag' was played. No one ever did capture the flag. Several boys, who will form the colour party next Tuesday night at the dedication service, practised marching and learned how to carry the flags properly. The meeting closed with the Cub prayer and "God Save The Queen". District church parade will be held in Brussels Sunday, May 31. We would like to have all Cubs in full uniform. HE'S GONE CHICKEN "Ponderosa" 0111 Walden, who last year promoted a big beef barbecue for the Legion during the Kin Trade Fair has dropped his trusty rope this year and has taken to chicken farm- ing. The boys will bring in a huge chicken cook -out for the occasion which will take place on Saturday evening, June 6th, on Diagonal Road beside the rink.
