Coach's clinic• in their Ilona!
areas.
The ?attic type of clinic
will he held again this year in
Kingston and the W. 0..1. A. is
looking fur wren interested in
attending, This will be an
eight -to -tel -day clinic, !n
August. Transportation, room,
and board will be provided.
The ten (.10) dollar entry tee
is refundable. Those who at-
tend will be expected to hold
clinics in their home areas,
which should be ,successful - if
for no other reason - because
of the excellent staff selected
for the National Institutes.
Comprising these staffs are
people involved in all levels of
the game, from PeeWee
through Senior. As an example
- }lap ['mins from the Junior
Level (Niagara Falls Flyers -
Jr. "A").
What is the purpose of this
program? First of all, it is not
to suggest that existing coach-
ing is unsatisfactory; instead,
this is designed as an aid to
better coaching. And this in
turn, involves getting more
boys into the game, and more
adults as well. What adults?
The professional people. These
would make excellent mana-
gers, executives, advisors,
treasurers. And in taking over
such duties, they would lift a
heavy burden from the coach's
shoulders. This latter involve-
ment is something naturally
that would have to he worked
out in each community. But
it would be of inestimable va-
lue - because the 'citizen-
ship" idea can be stressed
(subtly) - in no small way,
hy the example of the respons-
ible pzople involved. Thus,
the sport stands to gain, as the
game takes on more character;
the Conr.nunity gains too be-
cause better boys develop into
finer citizens,
