The theme was "A Household o f God". Harold Vincent, super- intendent of the Sunday school was in charge. Hold Plant Sale GORRIE-The Friendly Four Unit of the Gorrie United Church Women met at the home of Mrs. Raymond Gowdy on May 4th, with 19 members attending. Mrs. Allan Hynd- man presided for the worship with Mrs. A.L. Stephens con- cluding the study of "The Word and the Way". This was fol- lowed by an auction of house plants and bulbs with over $12,00 being realized. Ye Heavens Adore Him" was followed by responsive reading and Scripture was read by Lloyd Michie, fol- lowed by a family prayer and the Lord's prayer. The offering was received by Neil Vincent and Richard Anderson. The story, "Making Things Right" was read by Mrs. William Coul- tas. The following attendance awards were presented by George Michie assisted by Mrs. George Johnston. Certificates: Danny, Dwight, Donelda, and Dale Lamont, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vincent. Story of Hannah Told at Meeting Of Knox W.M.S. BELGRAVE- The Women's Missionary Society of Knox Presbyterian Church held its May meeting at the home of Mrs. Athol Bruce, which was conducted by president Mrs. Joe Dunbar. A Psalm and prayer opened the meeting. The topic from the study book "Educational Work in In- dia", was taken by Mrs. J.C. McBurney. A panel taking part consisted of Mrs. Edgar Wight - man, Mrs. Mac Scott, Mrs. Garner Nicholson and Mrs. Al- an McBurney. The Scripture was read by Mrs. Athol Bruce. Mrs. Robert Purdon led in prayer. "A Wo- man of the Bible" was given by Mrs. Victor Youngblut who chose "Hannah", and gave a very interesting talk on the life of Hannah and the birth of her son, Samuel. The secretary's report was heard and the financial state- ment given. A meeting of the executive is to be held in Clin- ton on May 15. Plans for the Home helpers' meeting in June were made witl a special speaker to he contact- ed. The roll call was answered by the name of a woman of the Bible. The visits to the sick were reported and the offering received and dedicated. Mrs. Edgar Wightman gave the Glad Tidings prayer. A hymn was sung and the president e nt closed the rneeting with prayer. Morris Township Council Meeting Reeve Stewart Procter presi- ded for the Morris Township Council meeting when it was decided to endorse the resolu- tion from the town of Newmar- ket on the use of school facili- ties for a longer period. James Mair made a motion that the Municipal Corporation of the Township of Morris ap- prove the request of the Board of Trustees of the Turnberry Township School Area for the issue of debentures in the am- ount of $155, oou by the Muni- cipal Corporation of the Town- ship -of Turnberry for the con- struction and equipping of an addition to the Turnberry Cen- tral School and for the purpose of school buses. The motion was seconded by Walter Short - reed and passed by the council. Ross Smith and StewartProc- ter were appointed to interview Stewart Cloakey in regard to the dump and make the neces- sary arran dements for improve- ments.
