TIli'RSIAY This was the day of the Ca- det Inspection but the school day itself was rather une• Lnr- ful. 'There was a slight flurry of interest when "God Save the Queen" was played in the en- tirety over the P.A. system at the start of classes in the morn- ing since the record which is usually played is an abbrevia- ted form of that old favourite. Speculation ran high for a litrlt while that the 1.0.D. had seized control of transmission headquarters. 1low c vet, no one is ever too sure what is going to come over the intercom. There was one memorable morning in the past when 'God Save the Queen' was replaced by 'The Star-Spangled Banner'. FRIDAY The long version of "God Save the Queen" issued forth from the intercom again. The one gig event of the day was an Assembly at 3.00. Vast piles of bars, crests, certifi- cates and other awards were distributed to students who had engaged in everything frorn wrestling to writing, from curl- ing to cadets. During the Assembly, Mr. Madill introduced the topic of the Prefect System which will go into operation next year. Prefects chosen frorn Grades Twelve and Thirteen will as- sume some of the supervisory duties now carried out by the teaching staff. Alex Hamilton and Brenda MacLennan reported to the stu- dent body on the operation of the Prefect System at London Wheahle Collegiate. They had been sent there, with the other three members of the Student Council Executive as observers. o --0--o The Night George Washington Slept at W.D.1I.S. or The Night George Washington Was Arrested for Vagrancy This is the fifth in a series of three articles designed to tell the reader nothing worth know- ing about the Wingham High School.
