Mrs Cxeorfro Walker attended the Women's Institute Confer- ence being held for district dir- eetors from all Ontario at the Federated Colleges in Guelph on May 6 and 7. Mrs. Walker join- ed Mrs. Patterson, Wingham, Mrs, Dave Eadie, Belmore and Mrs. McDonald, Teeswater, and all motored to Guelph on May 5. Wednesday evening they were taken to St. George by bus to view the Adelaide Hoodless homestead. Mrs. Claude Coffin. Alex and John were in Hesneler on Mon- day and attended the burial of her husband. Mr. Charles Lantinga of Hol- land is visiting with his sister, Mrs, John De Boer and Mr. De Boer. Mrs. Tom Morrison and Ken- neth visited on Saturday at Westminster Hospital. London, with her husband, who expects to undergo surgery in the near future. Mr. and Mrs, Walter Arscott, Valerie and Andrea and Mr. Dan Cassidy spent the week -end with relatives in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Evans and Linda of Toronto spent the week -end with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Evans and on Sun- day Linda was christened at the Anglican Church at Kinloueh. Mr. and Mrs, Russel Ritchie visited on Saturday with Mr, and Mrs. Bill Ritchie of Luck - now. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tiffin spent Mother's Dav with her NOTICE TO THE CUSTOMERS OF WROXETER TELEPHONE COMPANY LIMITED Application has been made to the Ontario Telephone Service Commission for increased rates, some of the seasons for which are as follows: Extended Area Service with the Brussels exchange; plans to carry on with the Com- mon Battery System and the resulting requirement for new telephones and buried cable; increase in costs of labour, materials and office administration. Application has been made to the Ontario Telephone Service Commission for authority to make the following charges for telephone service effective as at June 1st, 1964: EXCHANGE RATES Individual line Two-party line Business Residence Business Residence $5.00 per month 4.00 per month 4.50 per month 3.50 per .month Multi-party line Business (10 or less) and Residence 2.85 per month Multi-party line Business (11 or more) and Residence 2.70 per month The above rates for individual and two-party line service will apply only within the Base Rate Areas which are defined as being: WROXETER—Within the area bounded by McLauchlan Street to the south, the Howick-Turnberry Boundary to the west, 400 feet north of Highway 87 to the north, and the boundary between Lots 15 and Lot 16 to the east. GORRIE—Within the area of the municipal limits of the Village of Gorrie and north 300 feet of Highway 87. If individual or two-party line service is required beyond the above limits, there will be an additional charge for extra mileage of forty-five cents a month for each 1/4 mile or fraction thereof for an individual line and twenty-five cents a month for each 1/4 mile or fraction thereof for each party on a two- party line. Rates for supplementary service such as extension telephones and bells, connection and moving telephones, etc., remain unchanged. This application will be heard before the Commission at its next regu- lar meeting in Toronto. Any representations to be made to the Commission with respect to this application should, therefore, be submitted on or before May 18, 1964, and addressed to the Chairman, Ontario Telephone Service Commission, 7 Queen's Park Crescent, Toronto 5, Ontario. If you desire any further information in reference to the need for in- creasing the telephone rates, you may apply to the undersigned, either per- sonally, by telephone, or by letter. May 5/64. Mrs. Jacob Kuiper and baby Dick arrived home from Wing - ham and District Hospital on Wednesday. Mr. Jacob Kuiper accompanied Mr. Tom Morrison to Westmin- ster Hospital where Tom was admitted for possible surgery, Mrs. Hugh McMillan, Paul and Gregory of Lucknow were Wednesday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Tiffin and Mrs. Myrtle Dawson. Mrs. Norah Cronin of Caledon is visiting with Mrs, Cecil Fal- coner and other relatives. Mr, Gary Willis of Streetsville spent the week -end at his home here and Mr. Bill Willis began work this week with Mr. Mac Inglis of Highgate. Mrs. James Laidlaw received word on Thursday of the death of her sister, Mrs, Oliver Mc - Brian of Goderich. The funeral was held on Saturday. This community extends sympathv to Mrs. Laidlaw and Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Laidlaw and family. Mother's Day visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Caslick were Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Caslick and family of Wingham, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Coultes and Dar- lene. Mr. George Conn returned home late Saturday night from a motor trip to New York City, where he attended the World's Fair with five of his university chums. They viewed many of the large buildings of New York, among them the Empire State building and the United Nations building. George began cement work with Albert Coultes on Monday. Mrs. Roy Irwin spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Conley of Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. Julius Fischer and Douglas of Molesworth vis- ited on Sunday with her par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Neable. Mr. Murray Neable began con- struction work on Monday on a new school in the Brampton area. Mrs. Stewart Plunkett of God- erich spent Saturday with her daughter, Mrs. Keith Collyer and Mr. Collyer. On Saturday Mr. Malcolm Brown threshed what remained of last season's oat crop, after feeding his stock all winter, as well as his wheat crop. Both oats and wheat yielded well, Visitors on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs, Victor Emerson were Mr. and Mrs. Russel Ritchie and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tiffin. Miss Linda Johnston spent the week -end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Johnston of Bel - grave and on Saturday attended 4-H Achievement Day at Clin- ton. where she received her pro- vincial honours certificate, hav- ing comnleted 12 projects. Con- gratulations. Mr, and Mrs. Clifford Farrier and family of Kitchener and Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Farrier and family visited on Mother's Dav with their mother, Mrs. W, R. Farrier. Miss Diane Swan spent the week -end with Miss Barbara Ritchie (laughter of Mr, and Present Awards at Sunday Service WHITECHURCH--On Sunday at the United Church the ser- vice for Christian Family Sun- day was followed, the theme be- ing "Our Family --A Household of God". Rev. Mitchell's ser- mon was based on marriage as the beginning of the family and home life. The Sunday School formed the choir for the service. Certifi- cates and awards were present- ed to the Sunday School schol- ars. Clifford Laidlaw, superinten- dent, presented the following: The Robert Raikes Diploma to Misses Nancy and Diane Swan for 1st year regular attendance; awards of buttons for first year attendance to David, Lloyd and Janet Sleightholm and Barbara Ritchie. Phyllis Sleightholm and Bren- da Ritchie received a second year crown to add to their dip - Truck Rolls over Embankment WHITEOHURCH—On Thurs- day morning while Donald Rae of Wingham, salesman for Cole- man's meats, was in at Chap - man's general store the vibra- tion of other passing vehicles caused his truck to start and it backed across the road and over the embankment at the eastern end of the Cities Service lot. Walter Arscott tried to pull the truck out with his tractor but to no avail. One of Russel Chapman's school buses was cabled to the truck and pulled it out from its resting place against a small tree. The truck was not marked in any way and Mr. Rae was able to continue on his sales route. Mrs Clarence Ritchie, who was celebrating her 11th birthday this week -end. Members of the family honor- ing Mr. and Mrs. Gershom Johnston on Mother's Dav were Mr, and Mrs. Charles Wood. Bill. Rickey and Kenneth of Seaforth, Mr and Mrs. Jack Johnston. David and Donna Jean of London. On Friday Mr. and Mrs, Clarence Ritchie vis- ited them and on Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Jim Johnston and fam- ily. lomas. On the diploma is a place to put seals for each year's regular attendance up to eight years. Many of the other Sun- day school scholars besides those mentioned received seals to add to their Robert Raikes diplomas.
