of the Lions Club on Tuesday for father and son night when the club entertained the local midget
team, Paul is pictured, second left, with Jim Mitchell, little Randy Elliott and Larry Taylor,
Paul spoke to the boys about his season in the NHL and answered dozens of questions. Ile is the
son of Mr, and Mrs, Garnet Henderson, Lucknow, and played all his minor hockey in that vil-
lage before moving into Junior B at Goderich then on to Hamilton and later to Pittsburgh, in the

at the home of the former's
sister, Mrs. Jennie Mosure,

ford was a week -end visitor

The sympathy of the com-
munity goes to Mr. and Mrs.
Herbert Ross in the death of
their little four-year-old
granddaughter, who was killed
by a car near Woodstock. They
attended the funeral on Friday.

GORRIE-A meeting was held
in the Council Chambers, in
Goderich, on Wednesday toor-
ganize an historical society in
Huron County, Some 50 per-
sons including a number of Wo-
men's Institute members at-
tended.
J. G. Berry was chairman,
Reeve Ivan Haskins, Ifowick
Township, introduced the guest
speaker, W. A. Taylor of Galt,
president of the Ontario Histor-
teal Society, At the close of
his address, Mr. Taylor and
Norman Wade of Gorrie pre-
sented Herbert Will, curator
of the Huron County ;r1useurn
at Goderich with a scroll hon-
ouring hien for his work in the
Museum. This was from the
awards Committee, Atnerit,:an
Association for `tate and Local
History, who<c object is e:u-
cottragcinent of local history.

Speaker's Talk
GORRIE-" What makes a
good farm wife?" was the roll
call, answered by thirteen
members when the Women's
Institute met at the home of
Mrs, Clarence Stokes.
The motto, "Farming is
like a wheelbarrow; it stands
still unless you push it", was
prepared by Mrs. Glad Edgar
and given by Mrs. MorleyJohn-
son.
Mrs. Dinniwell, a pastpres-
ident of the horticultural soci-
ety in Ilarriston, was introduc-
ed by Mrs. Johnson. Mrs. Din-
niwell spoke on garden care
and rose care especially. She
said roses like their own corn-
pany and should not be planted
with other things. They should
be planted in the fall and the
graft must be covered during
planting.
Mrs. Johnson thanked the
speaker and presented her with
a gift.
Mrs. Norman Wade read the
minutes, Mrs, R. Adams, pre-
sident, welcomed Mrs. G.
Hamilton as a new member.
Mrs. Alex Graham won the
mystery prize and the hostess,
assisted by Mrs. R. Adams and
Mrs. Cec Wilson served lunch.

church basement last Wednes-
day. Mrs. Roy MacSween gave
the call to worship followed by
a Psalm and a hymn. Scripture
was read by Mrs. William Coul-
tas, Mrs. MacSween led in
prayer.
:Minutes were read by Mrs.
James Lamont and Mrs. Alan
Dunbar gave the treasurer's re-
port. A discussion was held on
cleaning the church basement
and the purchasing of a dupli-
cating machine. The garden
party was announced for June
10. A petition was signed
about the beer advertising on
sportscasts. A bus trip was an-
nounced to Five Oaks and sev-
eral ladies thought they could
attend.
A film was shown on India.
Bible study on the Creeds was
taken by Mrs. Arthur Jackson,
A hymn was sung and Mrs. Cliff
Logan showed slides and snaps
for recreation.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Laura Johnston and her group.
