25th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs, William Har-
tnan were pleasantly surprised
on Friday evening, April 17
when about 60 neighbours,
friends and relatives gathered
at, their home to honor them on
the occasion of their 25th wed-
ding anniversary. The couple
have two children, Mary Louise
of the Toronto -Dominion Bank
staff in Wingham and Joyce,
W, B, Nurse of Toronto.
A very enjoyable evening
was spent playing cards with
the high prizes going to Eileen
Sellers and Ernie Pletch and
low prizes going to Irene Har-
man and Lew Armstrong, Mr.
and Mrs. Harman were present-
ed
resented with a swivel rocker by Tom-
my Warwick and Keith Bone,
Brenda Bone read the address.
A delicious lunch was served by
a number of ladies from the
neighbourhood.
Five Kinettes
Attend Meeting
At Shelburne
Five members of the Wing -
ham Kinette Club, Mrs. Jack
Walker, Mrs. S.G. Leedham,
Mrs. Bill Hanula, Mrs. Murray
Taylor and Mrs. R. 0. Wenger
attended Zone B. Interclub at
Shelburne last Wednesday.
Fourteen clubs from Zone B.
were represented and each pre-
sident gave a short report of
her club's activities for the
year.
The district convener, Mrs,
S.C. Atkinson of Niagara Falls,
brought greetings from District
One executive. Rev. L.E.
Sparks of the Church of the
Nazarene, Shelburne, spoke
about his missionary work in
India and Burma.
The Girl Guides and Kins-
men of Shelburne provided en-
tertainment and a delicious
dinner was enjoyed at the Com-
munity Centre.
Receive Word of
Aunt's Demise
WHITECHURCH-Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Morrison received
word on Wednesday that his
mother's sister, Eva Gertrude
Hession, passed away on Wed-
nesday, April 22nd at Toronto
General Hospital.
She was the wife of the late
Walter Ross McBryen, dear sis-
ter of Mrs. John (Norma) Grif-
fen, Toronto. She was prede-
ceased by the late Dr. Henry A.
Hession, (Major. John Hession of
Toronto, and Mrs. , J. B. Mor-
rison of Whitechurch.
The funeral was held on Fri-
day at the Earle Elliott funeral
home with interment in Mount
Pleasant cemetery.
Deceased was a nurse and in
her youth had nursed in New
York for a time. Some of the
older folks of the community
will remember when she visited
her sister, the late Mrs. J. B.
Morrison.
The community extends
sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Morrison and family and Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Morrison and
family.
Two Elderly
Residents Are
Victimized
FORDWICH-Hoodlums, who
have picked two elderlyFord-
b wich residents as their victims,
are being sought by Ontario Pro-
vincial Police of Mount Forest
• Sunday the vandals struck at
the home of Mrs. Jennie Mo -
sure, 90 years old. After
breaking into a back kitchen
they spread jam over the kit-
chen door, smeared lard over
• the steps, emptied a jar of
pickles on the floor and spoiled
a can of meat.
The next night rocks were
thrown through the windows of
Mrs.. Mosure'S home and those
of a neighbour, Mr... Fred Shar-
pin. Windows in the basement
• of the Anglican Church were
also damaged.
Both Mrs. Mosure and Fred
Sharpin live alone.
