Choir Social at Knox Church i;ELGRAVE--The annual so- cial of Knox United Church choir was held in the church on Friday evening. After choir practice a short business meet- ing; was held with the president, Ken Wheeler in charge. Min- utes of the last annual meeting were read by Murray Scott. Officers for the corning year are: President, Ken Wheeler; secretary -treasurer, Murray Scott; gown committee, Mrc. Leslie Bolt; Mrs. George Michie, Mrs. Arthur Jackson; social, Bill Coultes, George Johnston, Luuk Meulwyke, Mrs. Murray Scott, Mrs. Ted Fear; lunch, Mrs. George Johnston, Mrs. Carl Procter, Wendy Fear, Marilyn Taylor. Sunday School Teachers Meet BLUEVALE-A special meet- ing of Sunday School teachers of Bluevale and Whitechurch United Churches was held in the Bluevale Church on Tuesday evening. Rev. G.C. Mitchell presid- ed and introduced the speakers, Rev..Arthur Higginbotham, of Walton, and Rev. Arthur Jack- son and Mrs. Jackson, Belgrave. A film was shown to illus- trate religious training in home and Sunday School. An exhi- bit of books and pamphlets cre- ated much interest. These are to be used in connection with the new curriculum to be star- ted in September in United Church Sunday Schools. The study has been in preparation with much care over a number of years. Dr. E. C. Tate BLUEVALE- Eldred C. Tate, M. B. , M. D. , died in St. Mich- ael's Hospital, Toronto, on April 5th. Surviving are his wife, for- merly Shirley Moore; three sons Howard C., Richard A, and James H., a brother, Francis, of Toronto, and a sister, Ruple, (Mrs. J. B. Ferguson) of Alberta. Dr. Tate was the elder son of Rev. Crawford Tate,Presby- terian minister, who preached in Bluevale Presbyterian Church from 1913 to 1925. Dr. Tate spent his younger days in Blue - vale. Berry of Goderich, Association of Assessing Officers and Elmer Ginn, secretary -treasurer of Belmore Public Library at the Turnherry Council meeting. A. D. Smith, reeve, presided and E. Walker was the only coun- cillor absent at the session. Council decided to ask con- tractors who had submitted grav- el tenders to send new ones, and to tender as the advertise- ment reads. Blake, membership municipal officers Friends Present Wedding Gift BLUEVALE- A party was held in the community hall on Wed- nesday evening when a number of friends of Mr. and Mrs. George Lowis (formerly Mrs. Mary Horton) assembled to hon- or them after their recent mar- riage. Games of euchre and croki- nole provided the entertain- ment. Prize winners were Mrs. R.J. McKinnon, R. J. McKinnon, Mrs. Ross Mann, George Heth- erington, and special prize winners, Mrs. John McInnis and Wildon Robertson. Mrs. J. V. Fischer read an address and A.D. Smith pre- sented a large mirror, on be- half of friends and neighbors. The bride and groom each re- plied in words of appreciation. Peter's Sense of Mission Discussed BELGRAVE-The Iii -C Group met in the church basement on Sunday evening when Ruth Mi- chie led in a sing -song, accom- panied by Lorne Campbell. Donna Grashy read the minutes of the last meeting. Councillor Mrs. Jack Higgins thanked the Hi -C members for canvassing for the Red Cross. The topic for discussion was "Peter's Sense of Mission" . The members divided into two group groups with Mrs. Jack Higgins leading one and Jack Higgins leading the other. The discus- sion groups then met to com- pare their findings. Wendy Fear gave the call to worship followed by a hymn. Lloyd Michie read the Scripture and Wendy read the meditation. Offering was received by Luuk Meulwyke and David Beecroft.
