Maybe the energy expended last week was still being renewed. I saw a member from the Apaches and one from the Mo- hawks discussing the situation, and they have decided that one team should take the playoffs and the other team should take second. Sounded like a good idea, but Don Cameron thought otherwise. His team is going after the playoff trophy, How- ever, he needn't think it is go- ing to be handed to him; he is going to have to fight for it. The playoff trophy goes to the team with the highest pinfall, and to date, the standing of the teams is as follows: Iroquois 3155; Hurons 3060; Sioux 2986; Mohawks 2959; Crees 2743; Apaches 2546. A point system was run for the games, but becau:;e of the good team spirit and different teams winning the variou games, the final score was very Young Canada Week Wingham Teams Won and Lost The Wingham minor hockey team entered in the Young Canada Week games at Coder- ich last week won their after- noon encounter on Thursday ag- ainst I:-Iornepayne after a five - all tie at the final whistle. The decision was made on the basis of shots on goal during the game. The same evening, in their second round they were matched against Dresden. At the end of official time the . score stood at 2-2 and again the decision had to be mad; by a count of the shots on gr al, this time the local boys were the losers and were thus eliminated from further competition. Roly Kaufman and Elwood Irwin are the coaches of the team and Roger West accom- panied them. The line-up is a as follows: Goal, I3i11 Skinn; Defence, Brad Elliott, Malcolm Galbraith, Brian Skinn, Stephen Sell.; Forwards, Tom Gower, Toni Irwin, Joe Kerr; Alts. ,Don Hastings, Gary Bauer, Ken Rae, Paul Templeman; sub goalie, Ken Aitchesou. Staffa Guest Shows Slides A very pleasant evening was enjoyed last Friday, when Misses Greta, Barbara and Sheila France were hostesses to the 4-H "Wingham Wardrobe Workers" and their leaders. During the evening, Miss Kaye Worden, of Staffa, a very enthusiastic 4-H member from Perth County, showed coloured slides, which she had taken on 4-H tours to Ottawa, Guelph, Niagara and Toronto. • Kaye had the honour of be- ing chosen to represent Perth County at 4 -FI National Week, held in the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. here the delegates At Owen Sound Wingham Bowlers Take Top Awards Wingham bowlers stole the show at the annual tournament of the Georgian Bay Region held at Owen Sound Saturday. Mrs. L. Button, leader .)f the group presented Kaye with a gift in appreciation of her in- teresting talk. The girls also enjoyed contests and a sing- song, followed by lunch. Miss Worden is a niece of Mr. and Mrs. France, and is a Grade 13 student at Mitchell High School. close, Red Six came first with the White and Yellow Sixes tied for second place;, and the Green and Blue Sixes tied for third place. This final score proves tile keen participation of all the boys, as the games were of the type to test Cub skill as well as for fun and relaxation. There were only two members of the Brown Six present and these two hoes balanced off the odd numbers in two other Sixes. Many models and various items were brought in for the display of handwork arid badge requiresments, to be set out for the Father and Son banquet along with plants which have been grown and tended with great care over the months, Colour parties for the ban- quet were chosen, as it is an- ticipated that the new Com- pany colours and also the new Pack Queen's colours will be unfurled at this event. The boys chosen to participate were picked for overall general im- provement and good Cub growth over the year, uniform neatness srudy and achievement, good co-operation with leaders and other Pack members. This proved a very difficult matter for all leaders as the general spirit and growth of the Pack has been excellent during the year. However, those six cho- sen have presented the best overall points and attendance, 0--0--0 '' A" PACK Tht. regular Tuesday meet- ing of the 1st Wingham Pacl< "A" Cubs was held at the Scout House with 21 Cubs and two leaders present.
