Ostrom is the minister. These churches are 18 miles south of Ottawa. Rev, Ostrom brought Mrs. Ostrom home and spent a few days during the Easter holidays at his home here. --Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Beirnes and Mr, and Mrs. Har- vey Niergarth attended the fu- eral of their uncle, Mr. John Muir, in Kitchener last Thurs- day. -Mr. and Mrs, Michael Wil- lie, daughter Sharon, Mrs. Wal- ter Pocock, and Mrs. George Love and Miss Faye Love of Walton, attended the Preston ice carnival "Rhapsody on Ice" last Thursday evening. -Mr. and Mrs. Murray Ai - mer of Toronto spent the week- end with her mother, Mrs. An- nie Knight. -Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Staf- ford have returned home to Port Burwell after spending the holidays with their mother, Mrs. Thos. Couples' Club Sees Pictures The Couples Club of sr, Andrew's Presbyterian Church met on March 3lst e. ilii 1:3 couples present. The president, Arnold Tar' for opened the meeting wtih a call to worship. A hymn was sung and the twenty-fourth Psalm was repeated in unison. Mrs, Leonard Phillips gave the meditation, followed by prayer. A duet "I've Got a Mansion Just Over the Hill Top" was sung by Mary Phillips and John. Congram. The minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted and the roll call answered. The offering was taken and dedi- cated by Arnold Taylor. Mrs. Leonard Phillips read a poem - entitled "Destiny of the Three Trees" , Mary Philips and John. Congram sang "It Took a Mir- acle". Mrs. Geo. Scott introduced the guest speaker, Cliff Robb, farm editor of CKNX who showed slides of farm land and points of interest around King- ston, and also recited some poems composed by his father. The hymn " I'he Day Thou Gayest, Lord, Is Ended" was sung and Mrs. Gordon Sutcliffe closed the meeting with prayer. Mr. and Mrs. Fred McGee and Mr and tlr:. Clare Neir- garth will be in charge of the next meeting. SHARON WILLIE PASSES TEST Miss Sharou Willie, tee daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mich- ael Willie passed her fourteenth Step on her senior bronze dances in Preston last ,londay, Wilfred Pocock, son of '.1r. and Mrs, Walter Pocock orf Wingham, passed his senior silvers and is now a gold dancer. Wilfred, who is a memi'er of the Preston club, was Miss Willie's dance partner. Howick Native Dies inToronto The death occurred in 'Tor- onto on April 3 of a native of Howick and Gorrie, Dr..Fran . 1.. Lowrie., 79, son of James Lowrie of the B Line and Mary Burton, daughter of IkImore pioneer Gus Barton. Ills pas- sing comes shortly after the death of his two brothers, Dr. Robert J. Lowrie of New York City and Dr. Milton 1. Lowrie. of Charlottetown and a sister, Bertha Lowrie, Reg. N. , of Toronto. During the major part of his life he specialized in optom- etry and diseases of the eye. In recent years he became inter- ested nterested in building, his latest project being in Richmond Hill. Dr. Lowrie leaves his wife, Maud; daughter, Mrs. Floyd (Joyce) Shealy, Indiana; three brothers, Dr, Howard A., and William J., of Toronto; David W., Hamilton; four sisters, Mrs, 13. J. (Elizabeth) Smith, Miss Adeline, recently retired missionary to China, Miss Hat- tie E., Toronto Hospital, Wes- ton and Olive Hersey, late of Guelph. Mrs. A. Jackson Born in Howick GORRIE-The death of Mrs. Arthur Jackson occurred on Thursday in Fergus. She had suffered a very severe stroke one week before. She was the former Lillian Mae Edgar, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Edgar and was born in Howick Township, near Or- ange Bill on May 24th,1891. In her early teens she moved with her family to Harriston. In November, 1915 she was married to Arthur Jackson of Harriston. lir survives with one son, William Thomas, of Guelph. There are fourgrand- children. Two brothers also survive, Roy of New Liskeard and Carl of California. She was a member of the Harriston United Church and a member of the choir for many years... Funeral sevice was in the Harriston United Church and interment in Harriston ceme- tery. Attending from this district were, Mr. Geo. Galbraith, Mrs. Ruth Corbett, Mrs. Lindsay Gal- braith, Mr. Anson Galbraith, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Wade, Mr, and Mrs. William Wilson, and Mrs. Alex Taylor. WH1TECHUsCH Miss Linda Coultes visited for a few days at Toronto with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kaasa. Mrs. Cecil Coultes was a guest of her daughter. Miss Barbara Coultes, in Toronto last week, Mr. Leroy Rintoul is driving a Wingham District High School bus for Mr, Russel Chapman, and Mr. Gary Rintoul has start- ed to drive a milk truck for Tceswater Creamery. Mrs. Albert Coultes spent Monday with Mrs. George Coul- tes, who has been ill. Her ma- ny friends wish her a speedy recovery. Mrs, John Jamieson arrived home on Monday from Victoria Hospital, London.
