Easter Theme
For Meeting
GORRIE-The United Church
Women held their March meet-
ing in the Sunday School room
using the theme, "Darkness and
Light" . Mrs. Wellesley Strong
gave the call to worship and
also an Easter story.
Mrs. Milton Luther gave a
paper on the Passover feast,
betrayal, crucifixion and re-
surrection. She said," Easter
should mean a renewal of
faith."
Larke Carson favoured with
a piano solo. Mrs. W.W.
Strong read the Scripture and
closing prayer.
The president, Mrs. Glad
Edgar, had charge of business.
Mrs. Robt. Strong gave an in-
teresting report of the Presbyter-
ial at Exeter. The M. and M.
Fund is now to be called Uni-
fied Budget Fund. Marcus
Cloete, Listowel, will be the
Easter Thankoffering speaker
on April 12.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Wm Behrns, Mrs. Robt. Strong
and Mrs. Wm. Latronica.

Ladies Wind up
Curling Season
The final session of the sea-
son was held by than Wingham
Ladies' Curling Club on Mon-
day of this week. The affair
got under way with a potluck
luncheon at one o'clock. A
short meeting followed with re-
ports from the secretary, the
treasurer and a number of com-
mittees. All reports indicated
a most successful year under
the president, Margeurite Cal-
lan. A decision was made to
assess each member 50 cents

A motion carried which
stated that the winning rink of
the first round-robin next sea
season will represent the club
in the Wingham bonspiel.
Doris Felis, a new -comer to
the club this season, expressed
her enjoyment of the winter's
activities in the club.
Margaret Elliott gave the
report of the nominating com-
mittee which was as follows:
Past president, Marguerite Cal-
lan; president, Jacqueline Rae;
first vice-president, Nan Mc-
Kibbon; second vice-president,
Ethel Spry; third vice-president,
Peg Bateson; treasurer, Joyce
Pollock; secretary, Ella Gurney.
A list of committee members
was also approved.
Prizes for the various round-
robin games and the Monday
jitney curling were awarded
with the remainder of the after-
noon spent curling. •

one o'clock draw, Betty Mac-
Donald, Skip, Clare Hotson,
Jane Burke and Ruth Currie;sec-
ond prize went to a rink skipped
by Doris Vivian with Margaret
Foxton, Marlene Leedham and
Grace Webster. In the three
o'clock draw winners were:
first, Eurith Nasmith, skip,
Verne Galbraith, Edith Rathbun,
Doris Fells; second prize, Chris
Currie, Skip, Margeurite Cal-
lan, Nora Finnigan, Elaine Rin-
toul.

woman, reaching for a card and
pencil said, "I guess I'll sign
up, but I sure don't know what
I'll do with another door."
