College Royal
Starts Saturday
The theme, "Forty Years of
Progress" will highlight College
Royal '64, presented by the
students of Ontario Agricultural
College, Ontario Veterinary
College, and Macdonald Insti-
tute, at Guelph. The Royal ex-
tends from Saturday, February
29th to March 6th. The big
Show Day is Wednesday, March
4th.
College Royal began in 1924
to give the students of Ontario
Agricultural College practical
experience in showmanship,
similar to its counterpart, the
Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.
Today, the Royal has grown so
that practically every club on
campus, and approximately
75% of the student body, take
part in this educational event.
The Macdonald Institute and
Ontario Veterinary College, .
open their doors to the public,
and tours are conducted through
0. A, C. on Show Day, Wednes-
day, March 4th.
The Royal opens Saturday at
the College Royal Ball, with
the crowning of the College
Royal Queen by Russ Jackson of
the Ottawa Football Club. Mon-
day evening highlights a lively
square dance competition and
pie eating contest; Tuesday af-
ternoon the Dog Show, and dur-
ing the evening the students
hold radio and public speaking
competitions. On Wdnesday
the public is invited to view the
student displays; attend "Book
of Fashion", a show of fashions
created by the girls of Macdon-
ald Institute; watch a livestoc<<
show; tour the colleges and re-
turn in the evening for the an-
nual, laugh -packed student
production of "Curtain Call" ,
"The Devil's Harem" is a musi-
cal satire attacking woman's
status in our society down
through the ages.
