Continues Study on India
The Goforth Evening :1uxi1-
'iary of St. Andrew's Presbyter-
ian Church, met in the ladies'
church parlor, Tuesday eve-
ning*. The meeting was opened
by a call to worship by the
president, Mrs. S. Forsyth, fol-
lowed with prayer led by Mrs.
Wm. Reed. Mrs. Gordon Leg-
gatt read Scripture verses from
RAINBOW CLUB
HOLDS EUCHRE
The Mary liastings Rainbow
Ci;.b held a euchre m the coun-
cil chambers on Friday evening
with 22 tables in play.
Prizes were won by high lady,
Mrs. Margaret Carter; Mrs. Ed-
wards of Clinton, low lady;
high lady playing as a man.
Mrs. lean Crump; George Dreh-
mann, high man; Fd. Marsh,
low man.
Gordon Walker won the
lucky draw and Charles Shiell
won the luc.<v saucer.

Families, Friends
The Wingham Women's In-
stitute held a pot luck supper in
the council chambers on Thurs-
day evening. About 40 mem-
bers and r.v relatives and friends
enlayed a very sumptuous sup-
per.
1'he program consisted of a
humorous reading by Mrs. D. S.
:McNaughton and several poems
by Cliff Robb, farm editor, in-
cluding a poem written by Sir
Harry Lauder in his own hand
writing in M;. Rohh's book.
A delightful medley of old
time songs were sung by Mrs.
O. G. Casemore, to her own
accompaniment on the auto
harp. Mrs. George Drehmann
showed moving pictures, in
color, of the "Rose Bowl Parade'
in Pasadena, California.
All present reported having
had a very enjoyable evening.
Matthew, giving her medita-
tion from the verso, "Ye are
the Light of the World".
Miss Gail Henderson, ac-
companied by Mrs. G. L, Fish,
sang the lovely solo, "Who
Could It Be but Jesus". Mrs,
Parker Campbell gave an in-
teresting summary of the Book
of Exodus.
Continuing from tete study
book of the Presbyterian Church
in India, Mrs. T. Balser, Mrs.
Gordon Welwood and Mrs. Thos.
Henderson, dealt with the ac-
complishments of the pioneer
missionaries in the Jantze and
Mil fields.
The offering; was dedicated
by Mrs. W. Reed. The roll
call was taacn and the minutes
of the previous meeting were
read by the secretary, Mrs. 11.
Bateman.
Mrs. Forsyth closed the
meeting with prayer and a so-
cial time followed.
Baked Apples in
Lemon Custard
Apples make delicious des-
serts because they can be serv-
ed in so many ways. If you
have run out of new ideas try
this attractive dish of baked
apples. Northern Spy apples
are abundant now and are par-
ticularly good baked.
4 apples
1 egg
1;3 cup sugar
a cup milk
1 tablespoon lemon juice
grated rind of one lemon
Wash and core apples; prick
the skin with a fork. Place in
a shallow baking pan and add
a little water. Bake at 350
degrees F. until apples are al-
most tender, about 30 m`.nutes.
Beat egg until light, adding
sugar gradually. Add milk,
lemon rind and lemon juice,
Drain hot juice from apples and
stir into the custard. Pour cus-
tard over apples and continue
baking until custard is set,
about 10 minutes. Serve warm.

FORDWICH--Beverly Ann
Jacobson of Fordwich and WU-
laim Louis Demerling of Fene-
lon Falls exchanged wedding
vows in Trinity Lutheran Church,
Howick on Saturday afternoon.
Yellow and white baby
mums decorated the church and
Rev. Martin Schieman of Clif-
ford performed the double ring
ceremony. Mrs. Donald Wer-
ner was the organist and Gerald
Buhrow sang The Lord's Prayer
and The Wedding Prayer.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jacobson of
Fordwich. The groom is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Demer-
ling of R. R. 2, Clifford.
Mr. Jacobson gave his daugh-
ter in marriage. Her floor -
length gown of bridal faille
featured a fitted bodice with
lily -point sleeves. Eder shoulder -
length veil of nylon tulle was
held by a headdress of white
flowers. She carried a white
Bible crested with red and white
carnations.
Miss Yvonne Elsner of Brock-
ington, Sask., was the maid of
honor. She wore a street -
length dress of red brocade with
an overshirt and carried a white
muff with sprays of red and
white carnations.
In identical attire were the
bridesmaids, Mrs. Gary Jacob-

The best man was James
Demerling of Fenelon Falls.
Ushers were Vernon Jacobson of
Listowel and Walter Demerling
of Clifford.
A dinner was held for the
immediate families in Listowel
at six o'clock with a reception
for 150 guests at eight o'clock.
The bride's table was decorated
with red and white carnations
and white candles, and centred
with a three storey wedding
cake.
Guests were present from
Toronto, Galt, Peterborough,
Huntsville, Hanover, Neustadt,
Fordwich and Listowel.
The bride's mother wore a
three-piece turquoise boucle
suit with a corsage of pink car-
nations and pink accessories.
The groom's mother chose a
gold wool dress with brown ac-
cessories. Her corsage was
white carnations.
The young couple left for a
wedding trip to the Eastern
United States. The bride's
travelling costume was a two-
piece real blue suit of poodle
cloth with black and white ac-
cessories. Her corsage was
pink carnations.
Mr. and Mrs. Demerling
will live in Fenelon Falls.

FAITIHFUL FOUR
BELMORE--The fourth meet-
ing was held last Wednesday at
the home of the leader, Mrs.
Kieffer.
The minutes were read by
Janie Woods. Three girls an-
swered the roll call, "The col-
or and style of blouse I have
chosen to fit into my wardrobe:
Pattern alterations were dem-
onstrated by the leader,
The discussion was on blouse
material, preparation of the
'material, taking measurements
and selection and use of the
pattern.

HARMONIZERS
FORDWICH--The meeting
for the "What Shall I Wear?"
project was held at the home
of Karen Carswell on Saturday
afternoon. The roll call was
answered by pictures of gar-
ments and the lines that would
suit the different persons.
Minutes of the last meeting
were read by Linda Angst. The
next meeting will be held at
the home of Mrs. Jack Mann.
The discussion was "Clothes
to suit occasions and harmony
in the costume" and someplan-
ning on wardrobes was explain-
ed to the girls by the leaders,
Mrs. Scott Clarkson and Mrs.
John Inglis.
The girls were asked to have
their material and patterns for
the next meeting, The meet-
ing closed and Karen Carswell
served cherry pie and ice cream

DRESSY DEBS
BELGRAVE--The fourthmeet-
ing was held in the Belgrave
Community Centre afterschool
on Tuesday of last week. Mary
Ellen Walsh opened the meet-
ing and the roll call,"Thecol-
our and style of blouse I plan
to make" was answered by 11
members.
The minutes of the last
meeting were read by Joan Bos-
man. Mrs. Clark Johnston told
how to lay out a pattern, and
demonstrated pinning a pat-
tern and making tailor tacks.
Mrs. Clarence Hanna demon-
strated how to alter a pattern.

CUSTARD CUTIES
WHITECHURCH--The fifth
meeting was held at the home
of Mrs. Dan Tiffin. The presi-
dent, Miss Diane Coultes open-
ed the meeting. The roll call
was answered by the six mem-
bers each presenting the baked
custard which she had trade at
home. The girls then judged
the custards and sampled them.
Miss Sandra Fisher and Miss
Marlene Weber prepared chick-
en a la -king which was served
on hot toast. How to make
good cream white sauce was
discussed by the leader, Mrs.
Dan Tiffin, and Mrs. Tom
Magoffin, assistant leader,
Three Units Hold Meetings
Mn. D. McTaggart was in
charge of the Unit 1 meeting in
the church parlour last Wednes-
day. She was assisted by Mrs.
R. Goy, Mrs. D. Rosenhagen
and Mrs. M. Foxton.
Little Daphne Robb sang a
solo. She was accompanied by
Mrs. Keith McLaughlin.
Mrs. Rosenhagen and Mrs.
Fax ton gave the meditation and
Mrs. Russel Lurbrigg gave a
talk on India.
Mrs. I larold Kerr conducted
the business. Nineteen were
present.
UNIT :3
Mrs. II. G. France conduct-
ed the warship service, .assisted
by Mrs. Rupert Simianton and
Mrs. hazel Campbell when
Unit :3 /net last Wednesday.
The topic was "Prayer"
Mrs. 'I. Jardin sang "An
Evening Prayer" . Mrs. K. Mc-
Laughlin was her accompanist.
It was announced that there
will he a general meeting of
the 1',C. W, on Marcie J 1,
when a panel discussion will be
held.
There were 16 members and
one guest at the meeting.
UNIT 4
Unit 4 met in the Sunday
school room on Wednesday
when the worship period was
conducted by Mrs. Elwood Ir-
win.
Mrs. R. Gordon accompani-
ed the soloist, Marilyn Irwin,
who sang "Jesus Wants Me For
a Sunbeam".
Mrs. Marry McArthur gave
an interesting talk on "Hindu-
ism and Christianity" from the
study book on India.
Mrs. Jack Reavie conducted
the business. This unit plans to
sell greeting cards and to have
a birthday box in June. Twenty-
one were present.

use of cream sauces and the use
of milk in cake, pies, drinks,
soups, casseroles, coffee and
to flavour meat, vegetables
and desserts, Mem'Ners were
taught how to estimate the
amount of milk you get in your
meals.
Home Assignments -- Make
a milk soup or dessert with milk
and file the recipe you use. Re-
cord group discussion in record
book.

BLUEVALE BELLES
BLUEVALE--The fourth
meeting was held at the resi-
dence of Mrs. S. McLennan on
Tuesday of last wee.<. The roll
call was answered by six mem-
bers. The minutes of the last
meeting were read by Edith
Shaw and notes were given on
blouse materials, selecting the
blouse and preparing the ma-
terial and selecting and alter-
ing the pattern.

FASHIONETTES
LAKELET-- The second meet-
ing
eeting of the Fashionettes was held
at the home of Mrs. Arnold
Gadke on February 17. All nine
members were present.
Notes were taken on ward-
robe planning, texture and de-
sign. Different materials were
discussed for the blouses. The
correct method of taking mea-
surements was demonstrated in
preparation for purchasing pat-
terns for the blouses which are
to be made.

SEWING SISTERS
GORRIE--The fourth meet-
ing was held on Saturday at the
home of Mrs, R. Adapts. The
roll call was answered by 10
members. The minutes of the
last meeting were read by Ruth
Anne Taylor.
Members discussed prepar-
ing material and selecting a
pattern, Mrs, R. Adams dem-
onstrated altering the pattern
and using it, Mrs. Clarence
Spading discussed the notes,
Group work was laying the
pattern and cutting the blouses.

WARDROBE WORKERS
WINGIIAM--The fourth
meeting was opened by the
president, Barbara France and
nine members answered the roll
call.
The blouses which the girls
are to snake were discussed in
detail, with questions answered.
Blouses are to be started next
week.
SUPPER DISH
For a hearty supper dish,
top hot, cooked Spanish rice in
a casserole dish with a layer of
fish sticks then bake in a hot
oven for about 15 minutes. The
combination of the golden
brown fish and tomato -flavored
rice is exceptionally good.
