WROXETER--Trig presenta-
tion of diplomas and seals for
perfect attendance in 1 l b:3 was
made on Sunday at the Wroxe-
ter United Church Sunday
School by Les Douglas, chair-
man of the Session.
First year diplomas were re-
ceived by Brenda Townsend,
Debbie Townsend, Kevin Town-
send, Mary 13eth Riley, Ronald
Gibson, Marcia Gibson, and
Arthur Gibson.
Seals were presented as fol-
lows; 2nd year, Murray Sinna-
mon; 3rd year, Brenda Brown,
and Marjorie Ann McMichael;
4th year, Ronnie Riley; 5th year
Douglas McLean; 6th year, Mar-
vin McLean, Glenis Gibson,
Tharon Riley, Doreen Riley; 'ith

WROXETER—Gladys Alberta
Haugh, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Fraser Haugh of R. R. 1,
Wroxeter, became the bride of
William Wesley Newton, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Newton
of Wroxeter on Saturday after-
noon. The ceremony was held
in Molesworth Presbyterian
Church with Rev. J. S. Stewart
officiating.
Mr. Haugh gave his daugh-
ter in marriage. She wore a
street -length dress of white
embossed satin with rounded
neckline trimmed with eyelet
embroidery, long lily -point
sleeves and fitted bodice. The
full skirt with folded pleats had
a back bow. Her two tiered
shoulder -length veil was held
by a crystal and pearl trimmed
tiara. She carried a bouquet of
red roses.
The maid of honor was Miss
Sally Jeffray of Wingham. Her
street -length dress was made of
emerald green and aqua blue
brocaded taffeta with which she
wore a whitc pill box hat. Her
bouquet was white mums.
David Harper of Mildmay
was the best man.
The reception was held at
Danny's Restaurant where the
guests were received by the
bride's mother, who wore a
brown silk crepe dress with
brown accessories and a cor-
sage of yellow mums.
The groom's mother assist-
ed. She chose a mink brown
crepe dress with gold metallic
embroidery, beige accessories
and a corsage of yellow mums.
Guests were present from
Penetang, Toronto, Kitchener,
Molesworth, Mildmay, Wing -
ham, Belgrave, Gorrie, Wrox-
eter and Belmore.
The wedding cake was made
by the groom's great aunt, Mrs.
Art Wenzel, of Stratford.
Mrs. Newton chose a tur-
quoise dress with black acces-
sories for travelling to Niagara
Falls and other southern points.
The bride was honored prior
to her wedding at two showers,
one a rniscellancous shower at
the home of Mrs. Jos. Simmons
The couple were presented
with an electric frying pan at
Lloyd -Truax, where they are
both employed.
WESTERN EGYPTIAN
The most popular gamhlipg
game, apart from poker, in
the Old West of the United
States, was faro. This is one
of tile oldest games itt which
the dealer or hanker plays
against all other players. It
got its name because one of
the longs in a deck of cards
used in France resembled an
Egyptian pharaoh.
NEW PRESIDENTS of Branch 180, Royal Canadian Legion,
and the Women's Auxiliary paraded to the front of the
Legion auditorium Friday night for installation, led by a
piper from the Seaforth Branch and the local colour party.

First Meeting In New Year
WROXETER--The first meet-
ing for the New Year of the
Women's Institute, under the
heading of Agriculture :Ind Can-
adian Industries, was held in
the Community Hall last Tues-
day.
A New Year's poem was.
read by the president, Mrs. Wm.
McLean. The motto, "It's a
great country but you can't live
in it for nothing", was taken by
Mrs. Thos. Burke,
The minutes of the previous
meeting were read and approv-
ed and the correspondence
containing several thank -you
notes from people remembered
at Christmas were read. A
Juniors Hold
Joint Meeting,
Name Officers
North Huron Junior Farmers
and Junior Institute held a joint
installation Thursday night at
Wingham District High School,
following their regular meet-
ings.
Mrs. D. S. MacNaughton,
president of Wingham branch
of the Canadian Cancer Society,
was guest speaker for the Insti-
tute. She acquainted the mem-
bers with the work being done
by the local branch at twice
monthly clinics and home and
hospital visits.
The motto of the evening
was "Good health is precious
beyond wealth or wisdom".
Addressing the Junior Farm-
ers' meeting was Barnie Evans,
president of Liqui-Feeds in Em-
bro and he discussed the new
trends in livestock feeding.
Miss Patricia Demude, home
economist for lturon installed
the officers of both groups when
they united after the individual
meetings.
Mrs. Williarn Coultes is the
Institute president; Miss Gale
Kirton, vice president; Mrs.
Ross Smith, second vice; Miss
Grace Matlters, secretary -treas-
urer; Miss Jean Fraser is the past
president.
Robert Higgins was elected
to head the Junior Farmers.
John Wighttnan is vice-presi-
dent; Robert Mathers, second
vice; Donald Martin, secretary -
treasurer and .Murray I loover,
past president.
James Spivey is secretary -
treasurer for Joint meetings of
the groups.
The Junior Farmer directors
are Laurie IlIack, George Proc-
ter, Murray Scott and the press
secretary is Ivan Dow.

Laurie VanVelsor and Mrs. Ron
McMichael be the nominating
committee for the year 1964.
The bi-weekly euchre part-
ies will commence January 15.
The highlight of the after-
noon was the topic, The Min-
ing of Nickel". Ivlrs. Harvey
Timtn's remarks were very in-
teresting and educational and
she also had samples of the dif-
ferent stages of nickel ore.
The roll call, "An Item
from Home and Country",
brought a fair response. Mrs.
Thos. Burke conducted a mis-
cellaneous sale. A humorous
reading, "The Song of the Lazy
Farmer", was read by Mrs.
Wm. T. McLean.
The meeting closed with the
Institute grace and the hostesses
for the afternoon were Mrs.
Wm. Wright and Mrs. Wes.
Heimpel.
