To celebrate the occasion she had as her guests, Misses, Barbara and Brenda Ritchie, Brenda and Cathy Soloman and Joyce Tif- fin, whom she entertained with contests and games and a birth- day tea. The average man is sixty- five pounds of muscle and a lit- tle over three pounds of brains — which explains a lot of things! Mr. and Mrs. Allan Graham spent Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Richardson and on Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Howard Savage of Molesworth visited at the same home. The Calvin -Brick Sunday School meeting will be held on the evening of January 13th at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gor- don McBurney. A good at- tendance is requested. Visitors on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Claude Coffin were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Coffin, Scott, Chris and Mark of Galt and Mr. Alex Coffin, who had been holidaying in Kitchener and Galt returned home with them. Messrs. Clifford Wells and Mr. Ralph Hancock of Pres- ton also visited at the Coffin home. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Weber, Anne, Marlene and Clare visit- ed Monday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mock of Harris - ton. On Monday Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ross accompanied her father, Mr. George Casemore, to Victoria Hospital, London. We wish Mr. Casemore a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. John L. Cur- rie, Bruce and Duane were Sun- day visitors with Mr. and Mrs. James Toth in Kitchener, and with Miss Rachael Currie in Galt. Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Car- ruthers, John, David and Julia of Goderich spent Monday eve- ning with Mr. and Mrs. George Fisher. Mr. and Mrs. John L. Cur- rie, Bruce and Duane spent New Year's Eve with her moth- er, Mrs. William Orr at Lang - side, and with Mr. James H. Currie and his sister, Mrs. Mc - Ritchie. Mr. and Mrs. George Fisher, Sandra and Doris spent New Year's with Mr. and Mrs. Toby Jantzi of Milverton. We are sorry to report Mr. James H. Currie is a patient in Wingham and District Hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Coultes spent Monday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Alex Leaver. Mr. Barry Tiffin of Kitchen- er, who spent the two weeks' holiday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Tiffin, returned on Sunday to his work at the Waterloo University cafeteria, Kitchener. On Monday, Mr. Alfred Buckton was admitted to Wing - ham District Hospital with symptoms of pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Arscott, Valerie, Andrea and Brian King went to Toronto on Monday to visit with Mr. and Mrs. De Nova, for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Smith, Kathy and Bradley returned to Toronto on Monday after spend- ing Christmas week here. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Jamie- son and family spent Wednesday with his parents, Mr, and Mrs. Tom Jamieson. Mr. Allan Moore of London spent the holiday season with Mr. and Mrs. William Kennedy. Mr. and Mrs. Joe St. Marie and Susan, Vancouver, British Columbia, spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Mylis St. Marie. Mr. Gary Brown spent the I lolidays with his brothers and sisters in Kitchener. Mr. and Mrs. Mylis St. Marie, Debbie and 13i11 spent the week -end in Toronto with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Robinson, who were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gray, Bonnie and Tommy of London, were week -end guests with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Magoffin. Mr, Wayne Farrier returned home on Saturday after visiting a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Farrier of Kitchener. We are sorry to report Mrs. Robert Laidlaw has been ill with an arthritic sore back. We wish her a very speedy recovery. Mrs. W. R. Ask for Deeds For Chalmers WHITECHURCH--It was an- nounced at Chalmers Presby- terian Church on Sunday that the annual meeting would be held on Saturday, January 25th at 2 p.m. in the Sunday School room of the church. If the weather should prove unfavour- able it will be held the follow- ing Saturday. Two trustees are to be elect- ed to fill vacancies. It is re- quested if anyone has any deeds pertaining to church property in their possession that they please hand them in at this time, W.I. SPONSORS RECORD HOP WHITECHURCH—On Friday evening a second record hop for the young folks, under the aus- picies of the Women's Institute, was held in Whitechurch Com- munity Memorial Hall under the supervision of Barry Tiffin, with his record player, acting as master of ceremonies. A crowd of around '75 en- joyed the evening's fun. An- other will be held early in Feb- ruary. THE RHYS POLLOCKS CALL FROM FLORIDA WHITECHURCH--Mr. and Mrs. Rhys Pollock, who at one time owned the general store in Whitechurch across from the mill, telephoned from Jackson- ville, Florida, on New Year's Eve to Mr. and Mrs. George Fisher, to wish them a happy New Year. Their son, Richard, specializing in surgical work is in his sixth year and Donald is in his second year in college, majoring in accounting. Record Hop After Euchre WHITECHURCH—On Monday evening a progressive euchre party was held in the White- church Community Memorial Hall, under the auspices of the Women's Institute, with six ta- bles in play. Prizes were won by Mrs. George Drehmann for high lady; George Gregg won the men's high prize and the lucky draw prize was won by Russel Gaunt. Lunch was served to the card players and the teen-agers be- gan their Record Hop. Barry Tiffin had his record player set up and he acted as master of ceremonies. Jim Ross with his violin and his mother, Mrs. Russel Ross, as accompanist on the piano, sup- plied music for square dances with Arthur Laidlaw doing the calling off. E. M. K. Elliott Was in Hospital For Two Months Earl Marshall Keith Elliott, R. R. 1, Wingham who had been a patient in Victoria Hospital, London for about two months, died on Sunday, December 29. Mr. Elliott, who was iib, was taken to hospital November '7 with a fractured leg but death was due to a heart attack. His parents, the late Irwin Elliott and Margaret Keith, farmed in East Wawanosh. They, had one other child, a daughter Verna, who died in 1928. Mr. Elliott attended schools in East Wawanosh and Turnberry Township. Ile took up farming as his occupation and in 1946 married Lillian Garniss of R. R. 5, Brussels, at 1lolmsville. Ile is survived by his wife. Ile was a member of Blue - vale United Church. Rev. Geo. Mitchell conducted funeral ser- vice on January lst at the R. A. Currie & Sons funeral home. Tlie pallbearers were Nor- man Ross, Fred Lewis, William Ross, Stan Dennis, Ed Powell and Walt Willits, Flower bear- ers were Graham Wray of Brant- ford and Keith Moffatt of Wing - ham. htterment was in Wing - ham Cemetery. Miss Muriel Moore, Mr. George Conn, Mr. Murray Coultes, resumed their studies on Monday at the Uni- versity of Western Ontario, Lon- don. Mr. Jacob Kuiper of the manse returned to Knox College, Toronto, Mr. Douglas Coultes, to Waterloo University, Mr. Glen Coultes to O.A.C., Guelph and Miss Janie Beecroft to Alma College, St. Thomas. Miss Janie Laidlaw spent the week -end with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Martin and Mrs. Jas. Laidlaw. Mr. and Mrs, Clark Johnston and Janette visited on Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tif- fin. Janette remained to visit until the week -end. Mr. Russel Ritchie received word Saturday that his brother, Mr. Alfred Ritchie of Lucknow, had suffered a heavy stroke and had been admitted to Wingham District Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Russel Ritchie, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emerson, Mr. Jack Aitcheson, Miss Jan- ette Johnston, Miss Lila Emer- son and Mrs. Maude Haggitt were Sunday visitors with Mr. and'Mrs. Fred Tiffin. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Dick of Toronto and Mrs. George Mc- Kague of Teeswater were Sun- day visitors with Mr. and Mrs. James McInnes. Mrs. Ethel Stewart of Wing - ham spent New Year's Day with Mr. and Mrs. Dan Tiffin and family. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Coultes and Diane were guests on Wed- nesday of Mr. and Mrs, Wilbert Schwichtenberg of Port Elgin. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Coultes and Debbie of Wallaceburg were New Year's guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Pipe of near Brussels.
