Euchre Party
At Whitechurch
WHITECHURCH--On Friday
evening a euchre party was
held at Curries School (S. S.
No, 9), with ten tables in play.
Prizes were won by high man,
George Walker; 2nd high,
Lawrence Taylor; high lady,
Lloyd Montgomery who was
playing in this capacity; 2nd
high, Mrs. Harold Congram;
lucky draw, Gershom Johnston,

be held in two weeks, Decem-
ber 27th with Mr. and Mrs.
John L. Currie and Mr, and
Mrs. Ed. Walker in charge.

last week with them visited at

Miss Janie Beecroft of Alma
College, St. Thomas, arrived
home at the week -end to spend
Christmas holidays with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert
Beecroft.
Miss Elaine Conn of Toronto
spent Sunday with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Conn.
Mr. Dan Cassidy spent a few
days last week visiting relatives
in Teeswater, Riversdale and
Kenilworth.
Being situated as we are in
the lea of the lake we are al-
ways in for a snowfall if there
is any of the white fluffy stuff
in the sky. Many of the back
roads in this locality were
heavy motoring over the week-
end. Sure is Christmasy look-
ing in our neck of the woods!

Mr. Bill Willis has returned
home from Highgate where he
was employed with Mr, Mack
Inglis, who has Closed his work
for the winter months.
Mr,and Mrs. Charles Mar-
tin completed moving on Thurs-
day from their farm in East
Wawanosh to the former Peter
Kennedy house which they pur-
chased last summer. We wel-
come them to the village.
We are pleased to report Mr.
Herb Laidlaw was released
from Wingham District Hospi-
tal on Tuesday.
Visitors at the manse on
Thursday evening were Mr, and
Mrs. Robert Bregman, Keith
and Bobbie of Culross, Mr. and
Mrs. John DeBoer, Irene, Jim
and Cecil, Mr. and Mrs. Peter
DeBoer, Simon and Nancy, Mr.
and Mrs. Simon DeBoer and
son of West Wawanosh.
Wed 53 Years
On Saturday
WHIT1rCHtJRCH-'Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Coulter, one of
Whitechurch's esteemed coup-
les will observe their 53rd wed-
ding anniversary on Saturday,
December 21,
Mr. and Mrs. Coulter were
married at the home of the
bride's parents, the late Mr.
and Mrs. William Purdon on the
14th Concession of East Waw-
anosh in 1910.
They reside with their daugh-
ter, Mrs, H, David MacDonald
and Mr. MacDonald. Their
son, Alex, farms in East Waw-
anosh and Chester, who resided
at South Burnaby, B.C. , died
in 1961. There are six grand-
children.
This community extends
congratulations.
Santa, Gifts and Treats,
Fordyce School Concert
WHITECHURCH-- Fordyce
School pupils, under the direc-
tion of their teacher, Mrs. Ol-
ive Kennedy and music teacher,
Mrs, Emmerson Rodgers, pre-
sented a concert in Whitechurch
Community Memorial Hall on
Tuesday evening with Elroy
Laidlaw acting as chairman,
The opening songs by the school
were "0 Canada", "Howdy",
and "Silver Bells",
The welcome recitation was
given by Doris Rintoul. A
Christmas recitation was read
by Mrs. Kennedy with the child-
ren doing the acting. Grade II
girls presented "Christmas".
The Irish Lilt was danced by
Sharon Jamieson and Jennie
Askes, Sharon Rintoul gave a
piano solo and Mr. Laidlaw
gave a humorous chairman's
address.
"The Educated Horse" was a
play presented in two acts. The
senior girls gave a two part song
and recitations were given by
Grade I. A humorous play,
"It's the Fashion" was presented
and the senior pupils sang "This
Land Is Your Land" and "Jingle
Bell Rock".
Linda McGee gave a piano
solo. A Poinsettia Drill was
presented by eight girls. Im-
promptu speeches were given by
Murray Gaunt M.P.P., William
Webster and Robert Lyons.
A play, "The Five Fifteen" ,
was very humourous depicting
a depot where many folks were
gathered on their way home for
Christmas. A song, "Venice"
was sung by Paul and Jane Laid-
law and Linda Taylor, Songs
by the juniors were "Up in San-
ta Land" and "Christmas Fairy-
land". A play, " The Minis-
ter's Mistake", was presented.
The lucky draw for the tur-
key and the Christmas cake was
made by little Miss Lori Miller.
Winner of the turkey was Miss
Margaret Taylor and the cake
went to Miss Louise MacDon-
ald. Both winners live in the
school section.
"God's Little Candles" was
a drill and song. All the pupils
sang a closing song and Paul
Elliott gave the closing speech.
Santa then made his ap-
pearance with presents for all
the pupils and all children in
the hall received a bag of treats,
The weather was favourable and
a large crowd was present.
Dies in London
WHITECHURCH—Word was
received here by Mrs, J. D.
Beecroft that Fred Clark. had
recently passed away at his
home in London,
Mr. Clark was tkie husband
of the former Vina Carrick,
whose parents, the late Mr,
and Mrs; Robert Carrick, resid-
ed in the residence now occu-
pied by Mr. and Mrs. Claude
Coffin and family. Vina is the
sole living member of the Robt,
Carrick family.
Concert Held at
Currie's School
WHITECHURCH--On Wed-
nesday evening Currie's School
pupils held their concert in Bel-
grave Foresters' Hall, under the
leadership of their teacher, Mrs.
Isobel Garniss with Mrs. Sidney
Thompson at the piano and Mrs.
Norman Coultes assisting the
pupils.
The chairman, Howard Wal-
ker, presided for a concert of
choruses by juniors and seniors,
plays, monologues, a drill,
"Alice's Blue Gowns", a double
duet by Misses Brenda, Joyce,
Doris Coultes and Joan Currie
and " Laughing Song" by the
juniors.
A skit, "The Operation" and
action songs, "Frosty the Snow-
man" and "Puff the Magic Dra-
gon" were presented. The na-
tivity scene was followed by the
closing number and Sanda Claus
arrived with presents for all the
pupils and many older folks.
The proceeds of the evening
amounted to over $40.00.
DONNYBROOK
Mr, and Mrs, WillowsMoun-
tain, Mrs. Elgin Josling and
Lloyd of Londesboro visited Wed-
nesday with Mr. and Mrs. Wes-
ley Jefferson and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Cham-
ney and family were London
visitors on Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Camp-
bell of London visited the week-
end with Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Jefferson.
Miss Mary Jefferson of Lon-
don is spending a few days with
her parents,Mr. and Mrs. Hil-
liard Jefferson and family.
